Date set: July 11th - any other July banders?
Was withheld water for a long time and was insanely parched. Then given ice chips. Now allowed to sip water, broth and SF jello. All feels good - just a tiny amount - and then walking afterwards when I feel some gas build. I celebrate every burp. Surprised how sore my throat is from the breathing tube but they tell me that should only last a day or so.

I'm thru and resting now. staying overnight. Into surgery around 7:45am and I'm told it took about 50 minutes and the doc pronounced my liver "lovely". Stomach is sore and a headache. No bad gas pains (yet). Walking feels good. Ice pack on the tummy feels good. Hubs is here with me now, parents and sister earlier. Sis has also elected to sleep over on my room. Discharge after upper GI tomorrow Morning.- Day 1

i'm sure this falls into the bucket of "varies by person/their doc&nutri team" but my nutri to just be on the lookout for no more than 12-14g of sugar in one meal. so if it was 12g in 1/2 a cup and that was the full meal i'd be ok. that said, i don't like tomato soup- Soooo depressed!
i'm so sorry to hear that - what a disheartening thing to hear when you wake up. I'm with Lady VS - hopefully there is a place near you better equipped, and good luck with whatever you decide. Did they say if you did decide to have it done how long you'd have to wait?- Free exercise apps for iphone
Hey everyone - I was just diddling around the App Store on my phone and discovered some free exercise apps. You can find ones for arms, abs, butt, legs etc. they show you the movements and form and then count out the reps for you. Did an arm set with a resistance band this morning and really liked it. I recommend them to anyone looking for home workouts. I think I will also get a lot of use out of them when I'm in hotels for work travel.- Date set: July 11th - any other July banders?
well tomorrow morning i will wake up unusually early (assuming I can fall asleep) and walk over to the hospital (it's just a few blocks from my house) to check in at 6:30am. excited/nervous for sure, but those words hardly capture what i'm feeling. i was hoping I'd have lost 20lbs before surgery - it seemed for a while like that was in reach but the scale hasn't moved in 3 days, so it looks like I'll be 17lbs down pre-surgery (12 of that on the 2 week pre op diet). the last couple of nights i've been having terrible headaches - not sure what that's about or if it's related. i know i'm not dehydrated, that's for sure. whatever lies ahead - if i'm not back on later in the day, i'll catch y'all on the flipside! good luck to my fellow 7/11 banders!- Date set: July 11th - any other July banders?
Is there someone you can call tomorrow?- Date set: July 11th - any other July banders?
I agree. Switch.- Day 1
I am 6:30am in thurs too! Meanwhile my husband just committed the ultimate atrocity. He brought McDonalds home and then fell asleep so there was a quarter pounder in my living room. There was 4 seconds when I thought "I'm just gonna have it" but insist give in. And I didn't want it sitting somewhere teasing me, and since I'm so mad he brought it home I gave it to the dog. Serves him right.- Date set: July 11th - any other July banders?
It sounds like moving around helps in the long run w gas pains. Glad the UGI looks all clear! Good luck with the ride home, and happy healing!- Date set: July 11th - any other July banders?
Sorry - I don't even know what kik messenger is.- pre-surgery nerves
Me too. Trouble sleeping last night and bad headache today, which combined are common stress manifestations for me. Just want it to be thurs already.- Pre-op diet killing me mentally!
Hang in there, folks in the pre op diet! For me - the headaches did go away by day 5 and I am rarely so hungry I consider eating my own arm - that probably happened around day 7. I am day 12 now and have been feeling pretty good for the last week. Having some water with lemon juice has been a lifesaver for me. The tartness cuts cravings for me.- What not to say to somebody who is getting a band...
OMG - my mom came by today - literally 15 minutes after i wrote my post AND DID IT AGAIN! i called her on it immediately. she just texted me that she's sorry and will keep trying to be less of an ***hole.- Day 1
I'm also really loving it, kbush - for sure sometimes i'm a little grumpy and i really can't stand to have aromatic food around me (my husband has taken to eating most of his meals out of the house) but i feel so much more in control right now, and a lot of my old cravings are gone. i just feel on-fire with this all being the right decision for me.- pre-surgery nerves
It's almost Thursday...a day i've been dreaming about for years in the abstract sense, and focusing on acutely for about 7 months. i just had a wave of nerves hit and as i have in the past - my mind went to what food might sooth me. (i should also say i have gone through brief moments of mourning the chance to really gorge on a turkey pot pie or entire plate of pasta) today was different! rather than be sad about the quantities of food i'll no longer eat, or run to the fridge to see what would ease my worry - i recognized 1) food will not take away these nerves. if i ate something now i wouldn't actually feel any less nervous, and i'd end up feeling guilty for cheating on my pre op diet and i've done so well that just isn't worth it, and 2) i'm not actually sad about not being able to eat another entire pot pie again. instead i just realized how AMAZING it will feel to one day be able to have a few bits of a savory taste that i love and feel satisfied! i've never experienced that before. i've always felt like i'd be missing out on the next amazing bite if i didn't eat a huge portion - or that i'd eat and almost immediately feel hungry again. now i get to look forward to enjoying food without feeling beholden to it - and I CAN'T WAIT!!!- one week banded
call your doc as often as you have an inkling to! it's their job!- What not to say to somebody who is getting a band...
this falls into the pet peeve/things i wish my mother would stop saying: every time i see her she spends 15 seconds commending my new habits and then immediately launches into something else I should be doing. "Oh that's great you went for a walk today, have you also been to the gym?"..."I'm so glad you're eating more protein - you should also be drinking kefir every day"... it goes on and on. this weekend i told her to knock it off. we'll see how long it lasts.- Hit my first Goal
congratulations! that's fantastic!- Date set: July 11th - any other July banders?
