A Little Confused
thats a good point laura, I didn't think about that. I just got my third fill and I feel a bit of restriction right now....still not quite there I don't think....I am just really hoping that it kicks in about 2 weeks from now....just in time for xmas!

A Little Confused
I have been wondering this for a while.....can someone explain to me why a fill can take up to 2 weeks to 'kick' in? I know personally, it seems like that is what it takes for me to notice the restriction but I can't explain why....

Slow Losers - Unite!
thanks Marilyn, I will read that today. Just hang in there! Things can be incredibly tough but no matter how slow the weight loss is, you know as well as I do that without the band, we would all be heavier by now and would of continued to try diets and failed.

August Bandsters How are you Doing So Far
Hi everyone, just checking in. I had my 3rd fill yesterday and so far, haven't noticed much difference but I am still on liquids so its hard to tell. I hope this one restricts me this time....I so want to be in the 220's by xmas which is only 3 weeks away!

let's get to know each other
Hi Everyone! Awesome thread idea! My name is Lee Ann, I am 27, have three kids age 6, 4, and 3 and work in the Marketing field. I live in Pennsylvania, love animals (have horses, dogs, a cat) and have been overweight since birth. I am married but my husband isn't very supportive hence some marriage problems, especially lately. I have a few very awesome friends, including one person I actually met online here that helps get me through each and every day with my band. I love the band and though I am still learning the quirks, I wouldn't change my mind now that I have it! I look forward to getting to know all of you!

What are your problem foods?
You know, its amazing too....a few weeks ago I had good restriction and couldn't eat bread if my life depended on it....I have lost a few more pounds and again all of a sudden I can eat bread again of course with small bites, I even had a small small piece of pizza over the weekend and was fine. I am sure with my next fill that will go away again.

August Bandsters How are you Doing So Far
I am glad to hear everyone did pretty good. I was proud of myself too! I only ate one serving, not two or three like years past...left all the leftovers at my moms, refused to bring any home (sorry kids but they will live) I didn't gain anything and I think I may have lost but I just got my monthly friend so I think it is staying the same because of water weight....that is fine with me. I even had two seperate people comment on how great I looked and asked what I was doing....it was nice!

Anyone go to Curves? What do you think?
Thank you guys for the honest comments, I really appreciate them. Like I said too, I wasn't impressed with my first visit there. I want to burn some fat......I just don't think that is the way to do it for me. Back to the drawing board!

Anyone go to Curves? What do you think?
It did seem pretty redundant. When I was there, there was only one woman working out and she didn't look like it was very strenuous at all. I don't want to be sweating profusely after the 1/2 hour but does it really get your heartrate up just doing those pads and the machines? I want to tone, but I am more interested in fat burning right now... I suppose toning is a good thing to, I am so new to this exercise thing, I just want to make sure if I spend the money it will be worth it.

tattoos
I think roses can make a beautiful tattoo, but what is important is if you like the idea and that it means something significant to you. If it does, then I say go for it!
-
tattoos
I love tattoos too! I have three; right boob, a purple daisy with a couple leaves and vines, a black outlined tulip on the inside of my right ankle (ouch!), and most recently I got the top of my left foot done with three daisy like flowers with vines and leaves to represent my three children, the colors are the same as their birth stones.....I am going for a tramp stamp (hate the name, love the placement of this tattoo) after I hit goal. I am not into butterflies but to me they symbolize freedom and being carefree so that is what I plan on getting. If anyone sees any awesome butterfly tattoos anywhere, I would love it if you pass it along to me. I am looking for something like two or three starting to fly.

Anyone go to Curves? What do you think?
Thanks for the comments! I am just concerned that it will focus too much on toning and strength training and not enough on weight loss and getting your heart rate up to burn fat like you said. I have an elyptical at home that works great at getting the heart rate up but with my schedule lately I am just not finding time to get on it until 10 at night and then I get a second wind and can't fall asleep.

Anyone go to Curves? What do you think?
Just wondering if anyone here goes to Curves. I am having a hard time fitting in exercise everyday and with the weather getting yucky outside, I want to make sure I keep this in my daily schedule. I am going to Curves today to check it out. If anyone goes there or has in the past, please let me know what you thought about it. Is it worth the money? Seems like the 1/2 hour per day workout is too good to be true. Thanks!!

Does Anyone Fee Like Everything Tastes Funny??
I am almost three months out and my tastes have definitely changed. I LOVED pizza before surgery, now, if I eat it very slowly I can eat a piece but I don' t like it. I haven't tried to eat a fast food burger but I took a bite of my husbands big mac a few days ago....gross and the kicker is that it was my favorite! I don't know if it is because of the surgery but it definitely has to do with how you have to chew your food after surgery when you have restriction.....liquified anything in my mouth is disgusting to me (I am a texture person) let alone liquid ground beef...ick. Now, don't get me wrong, chocolate, cookies, etc still taste great.....darn it (hehehehe)

What do you do?
same here, I find that if I let myself get to hungry I get very nauseaus. Then when I do eat, I get sick to my stomach. If I do get really hungry and want to inhale, I will actually make myself stop what I am doing and slow down so that I don't inhale. After getting things stuck the first few times I didn't do this, you learn really quickly

House fire last night....
CTgirl, I am so sorry that happened to you. You mentioned your room was a complete loss. Has the red cross or anyone stepped in to help you out with clothing and things that you need right now. So many of us are going in and out of sizes, maybe we could help.

Actitrainer (Like a Bodybugg :) )
One question and this might be a stupid one but its all new to me....does the actitrainer calculate the number of calories you eat a day right on the device itself based on what you enter or do you punch this info into their website?

Actitrainer (Like a Bodybugg :) )
I have been thinking about investing in the bodybugg too. I will look into this one now, I just can't afford the other right now. Thanks for posting this!

Spouse not supporting the new you?
Gummiebear, you are not alone....I have no support system besides a few friends that I can vent to. As far as having my husbands support, all I hear is how he didn't realize this surgery was going to consume me like it has.....he has told me I am being selfish for taking time for myself to destress now that I don't have my 'food' to do it anymore. He says I am always tired now, I am disconnected from him and you know what, its true. I have been with him since I was 13 years old, I am 27 now. I have never forced myself to deal with issues we were having, instead I ate. Now I confront things head on and he hates it. I don't know where my marriage is going but it doesn't look good right now and frankly I don't care. I know that sounds awful but I deserve some down time, I deserve some support. If it isn't him that is going to give it to me I will find it elsewhere.

emotional eating
Try to find something else to take your mind off of it....I am a huge emotional eater too, it is tough to break. Take a bath, exercise, go to the store and wander around, read a book. If I absolutely have to eat something.....try hot chocolate or at least something lower calorie, they make a ton of sugar free candy's now, even sugar free reese cups. It is a hard cycle to break, but this is your chance! You can do it, hang in there!
