What are your problem foods?

Recommended Posts

Up until a couple of days ago I was going along quite nicely with no problems....Then!!!!....... I had a snack of anchovies and corn chips (4 chips).... Well didn't that upset the apple cart!!!

I felt like someone had punched me in the chest and I couldn't even swallow my own saliva......... Then came the "sliming"........ You can bet your bippy that I won't be tucking into that combination again......:whoo:

How about you fellows...... Any Problems??

pizza, eggs, Dry beef or pork and heavily fried food

Hmmm... Looks like the four basic food groups to me..... (SIGH!) :decision:

That's the great tragedy of the band......... :think

Still, there's always Rice cakes....... Isn't there?:hungry:

You know. I too have had problems with certain foods and i was thinking 'o ill just not eat that anymore'

But my doc told me, actually DONT avoid that food. It you eat a small amount of it and dont get stuck that food will stay with you for a long time.

So i tried it and he is right.

Example: Eat some fried rice and it got stuck bad. Tried it again few weeks later (Much smaller quantity) and i got full quick on it but it didnt get stuck. THis is not a food i should just AVOID at all costs.

Of course i should avoid foods that are bad for me. (Funny how candy NEVER gets stuck)

Funny, no breads for me either. It's weird how it works because croûtons have become my bread replacement. If I'm really missing bread, that what I have with no problem.

Eggs---get this, I can have hard boiled eggs or fried eggs, but when it comes to scrambled or omelet......big NO NO! Funny Huh!

I LOVE cabbage rolls but alas they were not for me.... at least the night I tried them... so I peeled off the cabbage and just ate the inside meat/rice combo... that was fine.

Also one of my fav. foods since banding is Ham salad... well the last time I ate it... PB'd big time... don't know what's up with that! Last night for dinner I had chicken breast cut up tiny with onions/celery/mayo and it was fine...

Trial and error I guess.

I promised my nutritionist that I'd give up Choc. for a week! Instead when I want something sweet I will have 5 prunes as a healthy substitute... so far, so good.

My wife has trouble with chicken. She was banded the same day as me. I don't normally have trouble with Chicken. I work at a surgery center that does lap bands, and I hear of a lot of people that have trouble with chicken.

I think it's ironic that a good food (low in calories, fat... and high in protein) is something that I can't eat... but ice cream is sooo easy!

Thanks for letting me know, I thought I was the only one. :)

I tried a little of everything over T'giving. The mashed potato's and green bean casserole went down fine but turkey and stuffing was a rough go. Unfortunately the pumpkin pie also went down fine, time to get back to the Protein Shakes.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
