Yes...my first two days things tasted really strange...especially coffee. After that, I've gotten back to normal. It may have been all the meds given us during the surgery??

I still am having trouble with taste, Water makes me fell sick, and anything sweet like crystal lite that I was living on before surgery is too sweet I can't stand it, so I am going to have to really really dilute it.

I have no craving for anything sweet.....YIPPEE!!!! that makes me so happy, I know the sugar is bad..bad...bad...and if it is impossible to eat that will be so much easier to just say NO!!

I am almost three months out and my tastes have definitely changed. I LOVED pizza before surgery, now, if I eat it very slowly I can eat a piece but I don' t like it. I haven't tried to eat a fast food burger but I took a bite of my husbands big mac a few days ago....gross and the kicker is that it was my favorite! I don't know if it is because of the surgery but it definitely has to do with how you have to chew your food after surgery when you have restriction.....liquified anything in my mouth is disgusting to me (I am a texture person) let alone liquid ground beef...ick. Now, don't get me wrong, chocolate, cookies, etc still taste great.....darn it (hehehehe)

I am SOOO glad I'm not the only one. Water finally started tasting more normal last night. My surgery was Tuesday--supposed to start full liquids today but I really have no appetite for anything whatsoever. Plus I opened my big mouth yesterday and said I wasn't having any gas trouble, and now this morning I feel like I have a big lump in my throat and I'm afraid to put anything in it. Is that gas?? It's kinda scary--almost like I can feel something in there when I swallow. Is that normal??

Hello everyone. I was banded Tuesday Nov 13th. Everything tastes funny to me too. My saliva glands are in overdrive. Light stuff don't sit well with me. I am living on gravol and gas x. My gas was bad last night and today. Laying on your left side does work! Hope this resolves.

Boy am I glad to read that I am not alone with this funny taste right now. I was banded on the 12th and my hubby thinks I'm nuts when I tell him that the Water tastes really weird....

I am on Clear Liquids for this week, but I have not been hungry at all. I was on full liquids for 2 weeks prior to surgery too.

I used to love hot stuff (chilies). My DH is a big baby and can't tolerate anything with heat. Now, he can eat things that feel like they are burning the heck out of my tongue. It's so weird! I love tabasco and now it's almost out of the question. I hope it eases up a bit cus I LOVE HOT STUFF!

:)
