KAATNS reacted to Tashaplus3 in Just had Breast Augmentation, Liposuction and Fat Transfer
Hey everybody, been a long time since I have posted anything. I am 51 years old and 16 months out from my lap band surgery. I am at the Dr.'s goal, but not my personal goal. I started at 223 lbs. I am 5'6". I am down to 157 and would like to lose another 7-10. I currently wear a size 8 or 10. A size I never thought I would see again. I am very pleased with my lap band and have never regretted it for one second. Last Thursday, I had a Breast Lift, Augmentation, Fat Transfer, and liposuction of the stomach, hips, flanks, and back. The 66 lb weight loss left me with sagging boobs, and a muffin top. Not the look I was going to be happy with. I found a wonderful plastic surgeon in Boca Raton, Florida. The whole experience has been wonderful. Right now I look like a freak, wearing a compression girdle, and a not so sexy bra. I am bruised and battered. I gained 12 lbs of Fluid during the surgery but am down 5 today. I am still very bloated and I can see the pockets of Water under my skin. The pain has been moderate, but manageable. You have no idea how much you use your pectoral muscles! I am thankful that I did not have the Tummy Tuck. I really needed my abdominal muscles to lift myself up out of bed and to use the bathroom. I had a nurse stay with me the first 24 hours which was a really really smart idea. I may end up with a tummy tuck eventually but decided on the least invasive procedure, hoping that there is still some elasticity left in my skin. Today is my second follow up apt. Hopefully they will take off the tape that seems to be annoying me and perhaps the green light to go ahead and get another type of compression garment. I will post some before and after pictures when I get back from my apt today. They aren't too pretty, but I do see a light!

My doctor required Clear Liquids for a week pre and post op. But I had plenty of "reserves"....
My suggestion would be just as you say your surgical team described....ONLY eat when you're hungry and allow your body to heal completely. There'll be plenty of time for eating later.
Best wishes for a speedy and successful recovery.
EDITED to add..... Not all surgeons....OR surgeries are going to have the same post op instructions....so it'd really be best to place a call to Your surgeons office.

So, I have been divorced for about 2 years now, but I am curious as to how many people have had it done and are still happily married.
The article touts that the percentage is 80 to 85 within the first 2 years.
I wanted to start a discussion on this because I found it quite interesting.

KAATNS reacted to catfish87 in What does restriction feel like to you?
    Just my opinion.
IF all surgeons were required to give "free" lifetime adjustments, using fluoroscopy, we wouldn't see such long drawn out bandster hell's, or as many problems. I believe getting/keeping people at correct adjustment sooner is better. To prevent people from "testing the waters" if you will. I'm not suggesting filling bands too tight, but I think some restriction right at the time you start reintroducing mushies would have been better for me. And I KNOW fluoro would have been.

I'm 60 years old, have been divorced for many years, and after a few going-nowhere relationships I just quit trying to date. Being at my heaviest during that time was either the chicken or the egg - I don't know which.
A couple of months ago I signed up for LoveAfterWLS.com, but as it happens there aren't any men in Texas signed up there. Yesterday I checked in at that site again, and there still aren't any. So, having heard of PlentyOfFish on this site, I signed up there. I found several interesting profiles within 75 miles of my home, and I messaged back and forth with 3 of the guys. I've already had a telephone conversation with the most interesting one, and we're going to meet later this week. Woot Woot!
For CowgirlJane: My bet is that you intimidate men by being so very good looking. Seriously!

OK -- so this thread inspired me so I signed up on Plenty of Fish... If nothing else, I'm enjoying reading through profiles and looking at pics.
I got 1-2 hits by email and actually ended up meeting a guy Saturday night at a local micro-brewery (probably not the best choice for me because I don't like beer). It was intimidating as all heck but I did it -- put myself out there and had a pretty nice time. Not a love match but pleasant enough to spend an evening with.
Probably will be more fun when I'm down to goal weight and the self confidence is through the roof!
    lol

I met my husband at a bowling alley. I was there with friends, and he was there with co-workers. I told one of my male friends not to sit next to me, I didn't want the good looking guy to think I was taken. LOL Turns out my guy friend had worked with the guys I pointed to, and walked over to talk to them. I wanted to crawl under the table, as my bff has no brain to mouth filter (why we are besties) and I had no clue what he was saying. He pointed my direction, and I lifted the drink menu over my face like I was soooooo interested in the beer specials. What he was actually doing was showing them where were were sitting. When they finished their "team building exercise" several of them joined us on our lane for the next few hours of bowling, drinking and just a general good time. 3 of those guys asked for my number, only one was interested the other 2 were planning on telling him I had asked them to pass the # on to him. He called me a few days later and we started seeing each other for odd dates, I worked nights and he did daytime retail management, so time was limited. This was in Feb of 2000, I got hurt at work in late April, and he very kindly offered to come and sleep on the sofa and help take care of me. When I returned to work 6 weeks later, I asked if he was leaving or if he wanted a key. He took the key, and a few weeks later told me that we needed to talk. I thought for sure he was moving out and breaking up with me. He told me that he had never seen me wear jewelry so he didn't know my taste, he got down on one knee and proposed. We were married that Oct, in a bowling Alley (where else?) and have been together for 14 years this year. He's not a knight in shining armor, but he's also not a retard in a tin foil hat either. He is the father of my only child, my best friend, and the one person that I never have to doubt when it comes to having my back. Like Forest Gump says "we are like peas and carrots" he has always dated bigger girls, so I was a little worried when I started getting thinner. Just a few weeks ago he told me that I look amazing, and he is proud of my weight loss, and the fact that I did this to get healthy for myself, and our family.
I said all of that to say this, I had planned to get a few beers and bowl a few games with my friends that night and met my future husband. I wasn't looking for anyone and he just dropped into my life. Sometimes the dating sites, looking too hard makes you walk past the one that you should have seen. Best of luck to those getting back into the dating scene.

I spent 10 years raising 2 girls on my own, moved from the east coast to the west coast, then joined plenty of fish. I met my husband 8 months after I moved here. We've been married 2 years and very happy! He is a wonderful man. I was 270-ish when we met.

I found my guy thru a car club... we have the same kind of car and we met at a show... we were friendly, at first... things eventually changed...and I was over 300 pounds, so I never thought we'd be anything but friends (like everyone..major self esteem issues)... he is a lovely, lovely man and takes great care of me... I never thought I'd find anyone like that... so be patient and it will happen, I BELIEVE!!!!

    Hi Pinksjo1,
Not sure if you'd be interested, but we have meetings the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of every month in the Metro East at the Collinsville Doubletree. Its led by a NUT from St. Alexius and we usually have several WLS patients attend with every type surgery. It's open to anyone who's had or contemplating WLS. All are welcome! Several members from this site attend.
PM me if you'd like more info.
    Thanks, David

I'm going through the exact same thing right now as well. I gained 6 pounds in the process and have been feeling down about it. I realized how badly I need my band! I got one fill but I still don't feel any different so I'm looking forward to my next one tomorrow. Looks like we have the same doctor too. Take care!
