  1. I have! Best decision I ever made! Hateful people at the other office!
  2. I know how it feels to see everyone else's "big numbers". I have only lost 32 lbs. I now have about 6cc in a 10cc band and I FINALLY feel like it is working. I am just not hungry most of the time. I find myself not wanting carbs or "bad food" and a large meal just seems so overwhelming and does not happen. I am trying to learn to concentrate on getting in my protein because I just don't feel like eating lately. I have about one week a month (ladies know what I am talking about LOL) where I feel hungry now since my last fill. I am still about 60 lbs away from my goal weight. I am at 186 and I want to be at 126. I have a feeling I will probably actually want to stop somewhere around 135 or 140 though. Anyways, I have had 5 fills and feel like I am doing well. I hope everyone else is doing great as well!
  3. I am down to 194 lbs a total loss since starting the pre-op diet of 24 lbs. My band has exactly 5ml in it. I know this now because i got very sick this week and my band was so tight after my last fill i couldn't swallow water. Even had to spit out my own saliva (gross i know)...and if some saliva trickled down my throat i would vomit it up. My stomach was sealed shut. So in an emergency situation i had to remove 0.4ml in order to swallow my liquid antibiotics. At that time i checked the amount of fluid. It was 5.4ml. Thats the magic number that sealed my stomach closed! Lol.
  4. Naturallyjai, I had my 3rd fill. My dr will not tell me how much I have in my band, he says I should not worry about that. I will tell you my second fill brought me to 4 ml. I have no idea how much he just put in. I am on liquids only for today and feel no difference yet.
  5. what is your username and i will add you? You can already eat after a fill? my dr makes me stay on full liquids for 24-48 hours after a fill. dang.
  6. Errkadb are you on myfitnesspal? are you on mine? lol i can't remember who all are on mine. i just got a fill as well...but you are doing MUCH better than me! I actually gained a couple pounds!!!!!!!!! so that makes my 3.5 month weight loss....drum roll please....THREE POUNDS!!!! lol. maybe this fill will help
  7. errika, I have only lost 5 pounds since my surgery in december! five pounds!!! It's a long story, but i had to switch doctors and only had half as much fluid in there as the other dr office told me i had! So it was no wonder i thought my band wasnt working. So i got another cc added to my band and i am finally starting to feel a difference, although i still have not lost any weight. I have a friend who has lost 155 pounds in one year...she told me in the first 3 months after surgery she had actually GAINED 8 pounds!!! lol. that made me feel better. I am not alone. She said when her fills finally started getting her near the green zone after 3 months the weight just started FALLING OFF. so, that encouraged me. Maybe it will encourage you. I think my problem, and possibly yours, is that we just haven't reached a good fluid level in our band yet.
  8. The P.A.'s are hateful and horrible. The surgeon's are very good. But the P.A.'s are -what i would call-dangerous. They don't care, roll their eyes at you, and brush you off when you have a real problem. The surgeons have their own office called South Texas Surgeons. I would use them directly if I were you!!!! (I know this is an old post but I am hoping it can help someone in the future!)
  9. Hi erricka, I did not have any insurance. This was all cash pay. I plan to sit down with the surgeon at his office (not at the place where I went yesterday) and give him a chance. But only one chance. My husband is scheduling the appointment and going with me. The least of the bad things the P.A. did was not wear gloves. I likely have a vertical hernia as a result of the P.A. sending me back to work LIFTING after only 5 days (and she complained that I wanted to take of f the 5 days, said i only needed 3 at the most). I have a physically demanding job. So i went back after 5 days and got the likely hernia my first day back near the surgery site. I am having awful pain and I keep calling and when I go in they say that is not their problem and to find another doctor to handle it...my doctor saw me but refused to touch another surgeons work (As is the case in almost every surgeon) and says I need to go back there and tell them they are going to have to treat me. Again, the p.a. says its not her problem because its not directly the band itself! And she was VERY hateful and rude. As was the nutritionist. I JUST MET the nutritionist yesterday and she came in, said she wants me to eat two eggs for breakfast everyday...and since I didn't do that yesterday morning I clearly wasn't going to listen to her and she wasn't going to let them give me a fill....I was just beside myself...i was like-I just now met you and you just now told me to do this, I haven't even had a chance to do it and I will absolutely try it. She said she didn't care and I could just come back in 2 weeks and she would decide if I could have one...just VERY hateful, not to mention she looked to be a teenager. Then the p.a. came back in and said oh well she can't help me come back in 2 weeks because I didn't eat these eggs they were talking about. AGAIN, they all admit they just then during that visit told me about the eggs, but that basically they decided to punish me for not having ate the eggs they just told me about. Seems like group of immature young women, not obese friendly, who are on some kind of power trip. I feel like they never told the doctor about my post-op injury and have been negligent in treating it.
  10. Well, I fired my dr. office today. A years worth of fills came with the package...so that does suck. The P.A. and nutritionist are rude, negligent, do not use gloves for doing fills, etc. I will not be going back there. They say the dr who did my surgery may see me at his regular office. I will have my husband call and see what they say tomorrow as I have no intention of dealing with them anymore. I have a nurse friend who works at the hospital accessing ports who says she can do it for me no problem if i get the supplies so that is an option...I am completely capable of doing this myself BUT i am too big of a baby I think lol. Does anyone know how to find a new dr to do fills if I end up firing the surgeon as well. I have LOVED my surgeon up to this point, but just in case.

No, they will NEVER force me to eat meat...they may try. lol. They have already told me over and over that I have to eat meat if I want to lose weight with the band. not because of the protein, but because they say meat is more dense and will make me feel full faster.

Hi everyone! I was banded 12-31-12 (NYE). I have yet to meet with my "nutritionist"...the dr is insisting on this as I have lost almost no weight since surgery. I am at 202 lbs still. I am dreading this nutritionist visit because I have been a lacto-ovo-vegetarian since age 9...so going on 21 years. Non of my family is vegetarian. I just kind of woke up one day and said I wasn't going to eat meat anymore and I never have. I don't do most yogurt either as I do not eat anything with Gelatin in it. I have found one Greek Yogurt that does not contain gelatin so I am happy about that. When I got pregnant with my first 2 kids the doctors panicked when they found out i was a vegetarian and rushed me off to a nutritionist. both times she was not able to tell me anything i didn't already know. I am not optimistic that this nutritionist will do anything other than try to talk me in to eating meat again. That is not happening. Anyways, the P.A. at my dr office keeps trying to tell me it is unlikely i will ever lose weight on the band being a vegetarian...not because i can't get enough Protein, but because the density of vegetarian foods will not stimulate the nerves to make me feel full like meat will. Can anyone give me some advice on filling vegetarian foods/meals and encouragement on how you have lost weight with a vegetarian diet? I am not really wanting to listen to anyone tell me to start eating meat again or explain why i can't lose weight without meat! People who eat meat just try to get me to do it their way.
  13. Pumpkin.heim. im sure you have seen my posts...i have been publicly meltibg down with the same issues! Lol. I have hope though and you should too! We will find our green zone. Can anyone tell me how to add a friend on myfitnesspal by username??? I cant figure it out. It only has options to add friends by facebook, email, and phone contacts. My username is nursemelissa23
  14. This was my first fill. I had surgery 12-31-12. I have to do protein shakes only today and then back on regular food starting tomorrow. Dr says this is due to it can feel tighter the day of the fill. Anyways, I am not going to lie. IT HURT!!! She said it hurts some people and not others...just depends on their nerve locations, etc....well it hurt. I can foresee a time when I will dread this if it keeps hurting like that! But for now i'm just starving so much that I wish for the pain! LOL
