  1. Optical illusion. But, perception equals reality, so if she is happy don't rock the boat.
  2. Now, I must admit there is one circumstance that I will add flavoring to my coffee, 2 ounces of Irish Whiskey, and a little whipped cream is the only thing I have ever found that enhances the natural perfection coffee.
  3. I am not a Dr., I don't know, but I don't believe you are either. When I chose the band over the sleeve, I looked at the studies that showed the complications across all the patients, not just those that posted a good or bad result an an Internet forum. The band had 1/10th the complications as more radical surgery like GB or the sleeve. It also had a lower/slower rate of weight loss across those same patients. I did the research, I weighed the risks/benefits and I chose the band. Then I looked at the success/failure of my particular surgeon and I stayed with him. Making a decision on the band based on my good experiences, or your bad experiences is flat out stupid. Making a decision on the band based on a sales seminar put on by a surgeon is almost as stupid. I am not responsible for other people's stupid decisions, only my own. BUT, everyone that asks me my personal experiences, and my reasons, I will tell them how well the band is working for me. One day, the band may fail me, and I may have to choose an alternative like some others have. But, I can't live my life based on what "Might Be", only on what is.
  4. This thread is just wrong! Flavored coffee??? Coffee already has a flavor, it is Coffee flavored
  5. I don't know that there is a technical definition, but for me I usually figure about a week. After a week with no movement, I review portion sizes, food logging, calories, exercise logs to make sure I am still following the rules. I am sure that the lower I go, the longer the plateaus will be though.
  6. Welcome to the Journey. One of the things the band did for me was to suppress my physical hunger so that I was more aware of the head/emotional hungers that actually caused me to be fat. My word, no wonder I was 300 pounds! Take your journey one day, one step at a time. It does get easier, but it will still be hard work. But believe me, the journey is worth it. Read the forum, help others who are newer on the path than you, keep positive.
  7. Beautiful page.
  8. I'll bite MsMaui what is it? I can't get it large enough to identify.
  9. My surgeon suggest the lap band for exactly the opposite reason, it has a better history of long term weight lose than GB, and since the sleeve was relatively new the stats weren't in yet
  10. Just going through my cycling clothes since it looks like it is going to be warm enough to ride this weekend. My spandex bibs and shorts have enough stretch that they will still work, but man the cycling jersey's are definitely not form fitting any more. I don't mind buying regular clothes as I shrink, but man this stuff is expensive! Well time to shave my legs so the I am not completely ostracized by the other riders.
  11. Preach it brother, PREACH IT! Funny thing is, my scale is doing the same thing now that it did in WW. Difference is, I am not tortured 24 X 7 wanting to eat.
  12. This is probably one of the most destructive lies that my head hunger tells me...
  13. Not only do they want to put aspartame in milk, they want the requirement to disclose it waved as well. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/07/aspartame-milk_n_2828359.html
  14. He ignored you, not because he is male, he ignored you because he either doesn't have a weight problem or doesn't care if he does. Believe me when I was able to stop shopping in the Fat and Tall section it was a really big deal to me. Now, as soon as I am able to fit into a new size, I won't wear anything else. It took my wife a while to catch on as well, but she now understands that it is important for my self image to look my best, so this last shopping trip she was combing the clearance racks for anything in my new size, which is how I ended up with a pair of Angry Birds boxers.
  15. I'm the other extreme, why bother fixing something nice, I'm only going to be able to eat 1/2 a cup.
  16. Just so you know, I am doing the same thing right now. I hit an all time low, immediately gained a pound and have been rock solid for about a week. My immediate impulse is to start changing things, exercising more, eating less, stop drinking Water, drink more water, sacrifice a live chicken, anything to get the scale moving again. BUT, I am doing everything correctly and my body is just screwing with me. So, I am paying more attention to my food logging and portion size, and aside from that everything else will stay the same. The scale will move, I just need to give it time.
  17. Reverend Peyton't Big Damn Band. My spin instructor snuck this one into our last session for me.
  18. Remember like some other things in life, ladies it isn't how big it is, it is what you do with it that matters. Mine is a huge 10cc
  19. Let us know how you like it when you have a dumping episode Seriously, I am glad you didn't give up when you figured out the band was not for you but kept moving forward.
  20. I live in Utah, I don't believe it is legal to feel your own port...
  21. After getting banded I decided to invent a "Butt Muffler" and I am looking for investors if you are interested
  22. Understood. I really tried to clear my preconceptions and look at everything as though I was seeing it for the first time. I had been dieting so long, that many of the things that I "Knew" simply needed to be discovered again.
  23. At two weeks post op you are still healing, don't worry about the rules that you will follow in a month or so as much yet. Besides everyone one of us are different. I still can't eat a cup, and to get the proper amount of calories in, my NUT told me to do 4 - 1/2 cup meals a day, as well as a couple of snacks. I count calories and my target is 1300-1400 a day.
