  1. Had my third fill last Friday. Was banded 12/21/12. Down a total of 50 lbs! Yay! 10 ml band, first fill was 2 ml and didn't feel anything. Second fill was another 2 ml and had to watch my bites. Got 1 ml last week and on the verge of being too tight. I know this is what I need and wanted - to actually have good restriction so I can't shovel it in! I think it is almost too tight though. Previously I could take normal drinks but now I am having to watch even my drink sizes - get the chest pressure if too much of anything, even Water. Up until this last fill I could eat fairly normal (not watching bite sizes or chewing 20-30 times). I'd like to see how the weight loss goes this month with this type of restriction. And no, no vomiting, stuck episodes, etc. Maybe I won't have to watch my calories so much. Up til now that is primarily how I've lost the weight, using MFP and staying around 1200 calories. I know I couldn't handle any more of a fill. My next goal is below 200, 11 more to go. Just curious I guess how some of you more seasoned banders decide where to draw that line. Thanks for the feedback.
  2. I've had two fills and can still take big drinks of water no problem. If its not causing you any trouble then I wouldn't worry.
  3. Terrific! Keep up the good work!
  4. Seems like the more weight I lose the fatter I feel. I believe it is because before the surgery I was in such denial about my obesity and had not really looked in the mirror at myself, especially neck down. So this renewed awareness has made me very self conscious. I know it will get better just a weird thought to process and makes it hard to be happy with my success so far. Oh, and had my second fill yesterday. I've already developed a bad habit of wanting to "test" the fill. See if I can tell a difference or not right away! I think I have some degree of restriction with this one (4 mL in 10 mL band). The doctors office was like, wow, you are doing awesome.... and I said yeah, it is only because I am tracking every calorie and learned everything i needed to know from the LabBandTalk forum. Ha! I'm still not exercising yet.... queen of the good excuses I am! This is just as much mental work as physical, heading the right direction though. Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Oh, and I can't figure out how to do the before and after photos?
  5. Ate really bad today, 2 months postoperative yesterday. I'll be glad when I get more restriction. So easy to fall back into old eating habits. I feel so "ugggghhh" after not following my usual high protein diet and going over my 1200 calories/day. Need a band for my brain and my stomach. Plan to do better tomorrow and hope the weather is nice to go for a walk.
  6. Iloveoctara on MFP. The OC in Indiana! Thanks everyone! Also told her I learned from the lap band talk forum how to be successful so far!
  7. Was surprisingly easy. Numbed then 2 cc in my 10 cc band. Since surgery day on 12/21/12 went from 262 to 226 today. The PA was surprised. I told her it was simply will power at this point and using my fitness pal app. Wish I could keep up this rate of loss but know it will slow. Still have to start exercising as well.
  8. Well that was no fun! 5 weeks post op and no fill yet. Was in Sunday school and was eating a sausage link. Ate too fast/didn't chew good enough. Chest pain then felt it needed to come up. Went to bathroom and puked it up. Not my usual violent vomiting though thank goodness. Followed by some burping. After that felt much better! Scary but lesson learned!
  9. Right there with you gals. Banded 12/21, first fill 2/1.... Getting an appetite back for sure but sticking to 1000 cal/day and 60 gram protein. Looking forward to a fill to see if I can tell a difference!
  10. Mine is six weeks til first fill.
  11. Great success! Thanks for sharing!
  12. Nothing beats clean sheets!
  13. Clinical informatics nurse!
  14. Getting a urinary catheter during surgery is very common. Common practice is to insert and remove the catheter while you are still sedated. Staying overnight - it is their responsibility to give you this information for informed consent and it actually sounds like they were very forthcoming which is a good thing. Any scheduled outpatient surgery has the possibility of turning into an overnighter - just make arrangements for child care etc. in case. Nerves are normal! You will be fine!
  15. What did she say that makes you more nervous?
  16. No preop diet at all required by my doctor!
  17. Another Hoosier here! Banded 12/21 with Dr. Ray in Bloomington.
  18. Must be something to do with Internet explorer - I wasn't able to sign in either. Used Firefox browser with no trouble!

  20. Great job Beth! Do you want to keep in contact? We were banded the same day and have the same surgeon! I live in Orleans.
