So today I had my seminar with the RN and she scared me half to death. I'm now even more nervous than I already was. My surgery date is 1/24. Idk what I'm going to do.

What did she say that makes you more nervous?

That I have to get a catheter I have to stay the night. Possibly I'm nervous because now I know it's real and coming up soon.

Getting a urinary catheter during surgery is very common. Common practice is to insert and remove the catheter while you are still sedated. Staying overnight - it is their responsibility to give you this information for informed consent and it actually sounds like they were very forthcoming which is a good thing. Any scheduled outpatient surgery has the possibility of turning into an overnighter - just make arrangements for child care etc. in case. Nerves are normal! You will be fine!

Ask them to insert and remove the cath once you are under...so you won't know it's in there.

I think it is perfectly normal to be nervous. And about the catheter..they are professionals and have seen everything before. You'll be sleeping like a baby and never know it was there.
