  1. I have been right where you are and believe me it is worth it! Just remember that everyone is different and you may need no fills or you may need several fills. It took me to 8cc's in an 11cc band to find my green zone. You will have frustration but you will get through it. The band was the best decision I made. I am 4 months out and down 45 pounds.
  2. 4 Months Post Op and down 44 pounds!

    Anniversary and Before/After

You look amazing! Thank you for posting!!!
  4. Hi Everyone, I haven't been on in a long time. My surgery was June 26th. I did really well at first but then I felt like I didn't have a band. I could still eat pre band portions and I did!. Pre-band I was on here all the time and would read about Bandster Hell but truly didn't believe it would happen to me. Oh boy did it ever!! I encourage all you newbies to just fight through it. You will get your band to where it needs to be!! I had my frist fill August 1st to 4cc's and still nothing which really threw me into the "Did I make ther right decision spiral". September 10th I had my 2nd fill to 7 cc's and the scale started moving again! I had my 3rd fill October 22nd to 8cc's and I am now down 43 pounds. I have gone from a size 28 pant to a size 22! I love my band! I hope everyone is doing well in their journey.

    Today!

So exciting! I remember that feeling

    New New new!!! (& excited)

Your insurance may have pre-operative requirements. Mine had a 3 month medically monitored weight loss program, psych eval, meetings with a dietitian and I had to go to a bariatric center of excellence. All said and done it took 6 months. Don't be afraid to wait if your insurance ends up with requirements. The time flew by for me and it was worth it since they paid for the surgery. I learned a lot in those 6 months as well. Get as much knowledge as you can because the band does not do all the work. You have to work with it. Best of luck to you and congratulations on taking the first step!

    Starting my journey :)

The time requirements fly by! I thought the same thing and the time was over before I knew it! Congratulations on taking the first step.
  9. I was on heprin shots while in the hospital to prevent blood clots and I had the bands on my legs.
  10. I have the same band and no fill as well. First fill is August 1st.
  11. My scale keeps going up too but my surgeon and dietitian said this would happen at first. I can't help but feel slightly like I am failing but I know I'm following my orders so it will all fall into place in time. The first 6 to 8 weeks are for healing is what I keep telling myslef over and over and I'm avoiding the scale for a while.
  12. I get hiccups and burp too!! The burps are loud too and random! LOL
  13. My surgeon won't fill for 6 to 8 weeks post-op so I wouldn't worry too much about waiting till 9 weeks.

    Now what??

I have no idea how people go back to work after 3 days! Don't worry I still had paid 5 days out. A little over 2 weeks out I don't have any. Everyone is different. I was out of work for a week and a half.

    One week to go

Hang in there, it will be here before you know it!
  16. Good to hear you are felling good! I did not have staples I had the glue and strips.
  17. Hopefully you made it through ok. I didn't have to do anything like this. I have heard of people having to for certain surgeries though.
  18. I was allowed to have it as long as I made it with skim milk and it had to be the "healty" variety. It really was delicious. With the little amount of sugars you are eating now the 12 grams really is not that much.

    Feeling week!!

When was your surgery? I felt the same way the first week and then my energy came back and the soreness went away. I'm 2 weeks post-op and feel great! You will too!

    Insurance approval.....

    Mine took a month
  21. I was the same way until I got onto mushies and then my energy came back. I went to Ikea after 1 week and I had to sit several times. Now 2 weeks post-op I have no energy blocks. I can walk anywhere no problem. It will get easier.
  22. No wories that's what we are here for My port is located about mid abdomen slightly to my left. It was more centered than I though it would be. I have the Realize band so they were able to place it a bit lower. I had a high Protein, low carb pre-op diet. I'm sure you will be fine! Just stick to your diet excactly as you need to over the the few days you have left before surgery. Best of luck to you!

    FMLA

I should have stated too that FMLA is only what protects your job it is not your actual LOA. The 30 day requirement you had Jenni30 was your LOA policy. Your LOA was then protected by the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

    FMLA

I work in HR and I can tell you FMLA cannot be denied. It is a law not a company policy. However there are requirements that have to be met before you will be covered such as the amount of hours you have worked over the past year. My doctor wrote mine for 6 weeks but I was out for only 2.
