My husband was banded in 2009. He lost 50 pounds then he stopped following the diet. He maintained his weight loss and just received his first fill yesterday. The band still helped him with smaller portions even though he had never had a fill. We are now banded together and working on getting fit together.
  2. I had my second fill today, after the Dr. was done I asked him how much was in my band and he said it did not matter. The only thing that mattered is how I feel. Makes since to me. If you are still losing and watching what you eat then its working. It was nice not to see 200 on the scale any longer.
  3. I shopped at Old Navy last week, a first for me. I loved it.
  4. Last night I used thinly sliced zucchini as my spaghetti noodles for my spaghetti. It was fantastic, cooked the zucchini in a bit of olive oil then poured the spaghetti sauce made with turkey pepperoni over the zucchini. My 4 year old grandson loved it too.
  5. Thats the hard part not eating when you are not hungry. I just grab my protein water and drink. Its amazing some days I have to make myself eat. Thats a new one for me. lol
  6. Yes mine seems to be tender too. I can feel it very easily. When I lean against things I can feel it. I think leaning over the washer bothers it and makes it a little tender. Good reason not to do laundry, lol. I had a fill so far and no problems.
  7. WOW very encouraging you are doing great.
  8. I had shoulder gas so bad it hurt to breath. I felt like I could not get a deep breath. I used a heating pad and an icy hot patch. It helped some. It took about two weeks to ease up. Good luck it will go away.
  9. Alot of us think about the "what if's" after lap band surgery. It took me two weeks to feel better. The gas was hell from both ends. I do have a good support team with my Dr.s. My husband had lapband 4 years ago and my Dr. has agreed to see him and do his fills. Good luck and hang in there it gets easier.
  10. ummmm that doesnt sound good. I dont have alot hope it doesnt happen. Ive been faithful with my biotin and multi vitamins and lots of protein.
  11. I will check with my DR. Its alot of money to spend if its not good for you.
  12. I agree that most your protein should come in your food but drinking water with protein can only help. It is called NEW WHEY Liquid Protein. The nutritionalist said it should have Protein Isolate in the ingredients, which this does. Its 13.99 for a box of 6. Watermelon is the best.
  13. I found a protein drink at Walmart that I mix with my water. It has 42 grams of protein. Comes in Grape, Watermelon and Fruit flavors. It is 180 calories. I mix it in 32 oz of water so Im getting water and protein in one. I also eat cottage cheese and meat and or fish.
  14. Hi, I just got back from my first fill. It was absolutely nothing. My Dr. explained the whole procedure before he started. You lay on the table with your hands above your head. He first inserts a needle to deadened the area, does not hurt at all. I could not even feel it. He then inserts the fill needle, again could not feel anything. He had me sit up and drink water until I could feel it go down. He then takes the needle out puts a bandage on it. DONE it took only a few minutes. Of course I was nervous but my Dr. is so nice and comforting. Im on liquids for 24 hours so i will have to wait until tomorrow to feel the restriction. I have lost 14 pounds since my surgery 12-28-2012, 25 all together. I notice the weight loss and alot of myfamily and friends do too. Started feeling hungry yesterday, so thankful I received a fill today.
  15. Yes we all go through the "should I or shouldnt I phase". I did it right up until they put me under. I am so happy I went through with it. Although I am still a newbie, I was ready for a change. Its not easy but once you start seeing a difference you dont want to go back to your old ways. God luck in what ever you decide.
  16. Hello I was banded on 12-28-13, being your buddy would be great. I think we can all learn from each other. My husband was banded in 2009. He never had a fill lost 50 lbs but is gaining some back. He will be seeing my doc soon for a fill. This site is not very user friendly I dont think. I live in California. I'm actually doing really good. Just got of the eliptical after a 30 minute work out. Great to meet you!
  17. Wow I'm glad I read this. I've been having the same issue. Some days are worse. I sit at a desk all day and it really bothers my port area. I need to learn to sit straight. Thanks ladies!
  18. Oh the gas in my shoulder was horrible. i thought it would never go away. I actually had a soreness on the top of my shoulder after the gas passed. I felt i couldnt take a deep breath. I did call the Doc and they said it would pass and it did. It took about two weeks. I sstill get gas in my stomach depending what I eat. I think gas is going to be a part of my life from now on.

I always said I didn't lose my baby weight, my baby is 25. Great story it sounds so much like my own. Good luck with your success.
  20. My husband always gets sick from Panda Express but can eat other types of Chinese food and hes been banded two years now.
  21. And in 3 weeks you feel like your old self again just a little skinnier. Good luck it gets better.
  22. I felt mine was swollen too. It has gone down now, I am two weeks post op. My pants would bother it and put pressure, I just wanted to be in my jammies.
  23. I didnt keep it a secret from family or co-workers. Although Im still a newbie I have not had any negative feedback. I actually needed some advice before having the surgery and some of my co-workers are good friends. Many co-workers are very interested in my journey. In fact another co-worker is in the process of getting surgery herself. We went to our lap-band siminar together. Good Luck with your choice.
  24. Thanks, very inspiring. I know we will all have our quirks in this new journey. Yesterday was one week since surgery. I feel so much better.
