  1. Yes I would have but I would not have gotten the lap band if I qualified for the sleeve!! My insurance would only cover Gastric Bypass or the lap band. I thought the Gastric was a little to serious for my body BMI and I did not qualify for the sleeve which is what I wanted so I had to settle for the band. So I would have to say yes because I am still loosing weight even though it is not as fast as i want it to but I have to be patient but I am loosing weight and I am happy about that!!

  2. I have gotten stuck - several times - and hot liquid (tea)' date=' pineapple juice and pills don't help me. Too Stuck for anything to go through. I slime, PB and then god willing, throw it up. The pain hurts, can't breathe, cant swallow. It is awful and 99% of the time it my own fault. Too big, too fast, too much, didn't chew long enough. LISTEN to you body and STOP eating getting stuck is no picnic !

Oh my God! You got that right. It happen to me the other day and it lasted almost 2 days before i got relief. I threw up twice but no relief and it was my fault. I am post op Dec 18 and i ate to much. The pain was horrific. It was terrible. I will never do that again. Listen to your body stop when your brain tell you to slow down and eat slow with little bites. Yes getting stuck sucks!

Good morning. I am post opt December 18, 12. Like some other comments on here I to was always hungry. Even though I still followed all of the rules I was still always hungry. So last night I decided to push the envelope a little. Wrong. When I eat I use small plates and small forks so I do not put much on it and wait 1 minute before eating another bite small bites. So last night my aunt sent some dry lima Beans with dumplings and it had beef in it. So instead of me just getting a 1/2 cup of the beans I grab a big bowl because that is my weakness meal:(. So sometimes I even forget I have a band. I ate that bowl of beans not slow and I did not chew chew chew along with small bits of beef. So I was in excruciating pain from 8 pm last night until 6 am this morning. No matter what I did I could not find relief. I try not to throw up but I ended up doing that hoping I would get some relief but I did not. I moved around asking God to take that pain away and I would never do that again. Nothing work. I kept my husband up all night for doing that. I ended up throwing up again and it scared me because it was coming out of my nose also. I called my doctor and told him what I did but it was nothing he could do and he told me I just had to wait until it passed. I was in so much pain I did not think I was going to make it. I am still in a little pain but nothing like last night and this morning. I will never ever do that again. I try to eat some Tomato Soup this morning and I felt like I wanted to throw it up so I did not eat it. Has anyone ever been in this situation and if so what did you do. Did you go back to liquids or soft foods. The doctors do not like it when they hear this and I could tell my doctor did not like what I did. I will never put myself in this situation again. Times like this if anyone ask me would I do this all over again and I would say no!! No I would not do this again. But after thinking about it this is why I am in this situation now because I over ate and with the band it keeps me from doing that until last night. Never again but I am still glad I went through with it. Now that I am feel a little better I would do it again.

  4. I have only had one fill also- I go for my second fill tomorrow and yes' date=' i totally kow how you feel. My doctors office says three 4 oz meals no snacking... well guess what- I snack!- not like i did pre-band, but i do snack. I am so hungry after 2 hours that I have to do something besides gnaw my arm off. I know it takes time and fills and disipline and I hope to find the sweet spot soon. I track my calories on myfitnesspal and try to keep under 1200. If you are not eating enough calories your body can go into starvation mode and hold onto fat instead of buring it.[/quote']

Girl i know what you mean. Same here. That is funny about your arm.lol. i am post op dec18 and go for my fill jan 30. I too snack. But i do count my calories and keep track of my carbs. A work in progress.

  5. There's a lot of good' date=' high Protein drinks on the market. But keep in mind drinking your calories is a slippery slope. It won't keep you full for long at all. As a result you're hungry sooner and eating more. I really wouldn't recommend it if you can at all avoid it, especially since you're already struggling.

There's also a lot of quick easy meal ideas. Starkist makes a tuna and crackers packet and the tuna is pre-mixed. Lunchables even makes a healthy variety with things like whole wheat flat bread turkey and apple slices. Of course, you could always make something at home the night before and bring it with you. There's a lot of options out there, you just need to look around and figure out what will work for you.[/quote']

Hi and i love your suggestions. I am post op dec 18, 12. Does that fit into what can be eaten if we have the band if so that would be great....... i am hungry all the time but i follow the rules...... i go for my fill jan 30. I had a little during surgery but i have never felt full. It is frustrating and i try to eat filler foods but that to is not working..... i just being so hungry all the time. I do plan on talking to my dr about this on the 30..... i also stay constipated and that is miserable........ any suggestions any one..... but like the other guy said i feel like i could eat more....... even though i would be scare to eat a sub.:) i would not want to do that..... but being hungry and constipated all the time is really getting frustrated..... thanks for any suggestions..... i love those tuna packs already made up and lunch able..

  6. I had my surgery on January 4th. I was given 1cc at the time of surgery and pretty much feel back to my old self as far as being sore and getting around.

My appetite is back and it's frustrating! I know it takes time to get to the "sweet spot" but it's just frustrating because no matter how much Protein I eat' date=' an hour or two later I'm hungry again. Like I said I know it's early in this process but I'm getting discouraged. Just needed some tips, encouragement or a good kick in the ass!

    : )[/quote']

Hello i am post op dec 18. You are not alone because my friend and i are going through the same thing. I guess it part of the process because i stay hungry and i follow the rules. I had a small fill during surgery but i feel like i do not have a band but it is there. Hang in there it will get better. I go for a fill jan 30 and i cannot wait to see my dr to let him know. We have come to far to turn back now. I eat what i am suppose to i have no problem getting in my Proteins. That is why i stop the shakes cause i would be so hungry. I rather have the food. Hopefully it will get better.

  7. I know- crazy question. I was banded on 12/19/12 and I often ask myself if I am really banded. I know it sounds strange but I have not had a fill so I don't have much restriction. To quote some of you' date=' I am going off of want power right now. I feel like I can eat a larger portion than what is on my plate. I feel like I get hungry a lot quicker than I used to. I don't have a problem getting anything down, or have the symptoms most of you have with your banded lifestyles. I actually told my husband that I really don't feel any different. Is it just me? I am slowly losing and I don't have a problem with that. I am happy to be losing at all. I cut my calories/portions back in October so I have been losing since before I was banded. I am scheduled for a fill on Feb. 5th. Hopefully then I will feel like there is a tool inside me and not just my want to lose. Thank you for listening to me vent.[/quote']

Morning. I am glad to hear this. I am so glad to be reading this. I thought it was me because I am exactly the same way. I thought maybe i too did not have a band because I thought I could eat anything....... and always hungry but I still followed the rules.

I am post op December 18, 2012. I have no restriction @ all and I too felt like I could eat more than was on my little saucer plate:). So it is not me. I had a small fill during surgery but shoot I could not tell if I did. I will get my regular fill jan 30. Since it is not just me then. Guess this is how it works. I felt like I was going through all of this for nothing i honestly felt like i was just cut on and that was it but it seems like it was no band there. I was even starting...... to regret doing this.

Then I read Natural comment and I SEE IT IS NOT JUST ME IT IS ALL PART OF THE JOURNEY WE HAVE TO GO THROUGH. SO THEN I WILL WAIT PATIENTLY.)

  8. I'm 15 days post op n am wondering; how do I know when to get a fill? I guess I'll feel hungry but I don't get it. If we're eating small portions shouldn't we get use to that n not need a fill. My doc said he gave me a small fill at time of surgery and I'll get a fill @ 4 weeks post op. So I've been eating 1 cup of food about 3 times a day n 1 snack a day (bout 1/2 a cup or fruit blended) I make sure most of it is Protein n I pretty much feel satisfied. When I get hungry I eat. Why would I all of a sudden start feeling extra hungry again? Honestly I'm a little scared to get a fill because I don't want to get that stuck feeling ( whatever that is) n I read peeps say their band is too tight n what not. I know if I tried I could eat more but I'm stopping at my 1 cup limit.

Hey Brann. I am post op december 18. I am due to get a fill jan 30. I too had a small fill during surgery also. Your dr will tell you when it is time to get a fill. I think the wait time is 6 weeks if it needs to be adjusted. I too am not looking forward to it either.lol... i feel more hungry also and feel like i could eat more. I eat 3 small mels and 2 Snacks a day and still feel hungry. So call your dr because he is the best one that can answer that for you and about your meals. Good luck.

  9. Oh wow!

    Well I guess not! Lol

I hate all Protein Bars to began with.... I really dislike all the Protein after taste yukk!

I was just wondering because of the book I got on Bariatric Choice

    !

Yes that is why i ordered it because i got the book in the mail. The Snacks are pretty good cause of the crunching. I did not like the foods but...... the pancakes was kind of OK.lol... but hey give it a try if you are curious and see for yourself you might be surprised. I too do not like protein bars. Let me know what you......... think if you order some

  10. Has any one bought food from bariatric choice? If so is it good? Can banisters eat it? Just wondering I got a coupon book in the mail today... All the food looks pretty good!

Hello and i have tried it and child no it is not good! Well, i did not like it. You might like it. Lol. Everything is not for everybody..... i still have some in my cabinets to throw out. I am post op Dec 18, 2012. But you might like it. If you want to just....... try it then maybe order 1 or 2 things and try for yourself..... i asked my dr about it and he told me not to eat it.

  11. Was banded yesterday and have just arrived back at home. I'm finding it really hard to get and stay comfortable. I have a strange pressure feeling in my ribs just under my boobs!! Every now and then it sends a sharp pain into my back and chest. Is this just the air they bloat you up with trying to move. And if so how long will this take to go away?? Apart from that I feel great really considering its less than 24 hours and have no real pain pain :0)

Yes girl with me it lasted about a week. It was really painful in my shoulder and under my rib cage. I walked the next day trying to move it along:) but hang in there it will get better. But it was painful. Some said it was gas and some said it come from being under...... either way i never had that pain before. Good luck on your journey. I am post op Dec 18, 2012

Yes girl. I was banded dec 18 and the pain was unbearable in my shoulder and under my rib cage. The dr said it is gas and some1 else says it comes from being under anthesia but either way it is painful and with me it lasted about a week. I walked the 2nd day trying to help me it along with a little relief........ but nt much. Good luck

  13. Girl good luck on that.lol. It is all I can do just to get 64oz down. I could drink at least 64oz a day before the band because I love Water. But since the band I am having a hard time trying to get all of my water down. But I am trying to work my way to get at least 64oz. Because when I drink big gulps or drink to fast it is very painful at least for me it is. But go easy and just try to work your way to at least 64oz. Good luck.

  14. I had my surgery on Friday and I still have really bad gas pain in my shoulder. Right now this is the worst part. I was just wondering how long it will last?

Child that was the worst. I think for me it was about a week. It was torture girl! But it will pass just hang in there and give it time. That to shall pass. Good luck with your journey. It will get better. Sometimes it almost brought me to tears. I used a heating pad sometimes and I started walking a little the second day cause I really wanted it gone. lol

  15. So after the run around trying to see if I can get this surgery. I get told that the surgeon won't even see me at all b.c I am 39% body fat an not 40%. This is ridiculous! I am so upset about this. Has this happened to anyone else?

Hi i would go to my regular doctor. Because if you get a referal it will be easier but if your bmi needs to be a certain number for obese or you have to have high blood, sleep apnea, or high cholesterol. Mine was 36 bmi but i have high blood and a referal from my dr. So check with your regular dr. But do not give up if you need and want it. Good luck.

  16. Thanks everyone! It went great. There was no meet to be nervous at all. He didn't numb it and it was over in seconds. Monday I will be 6wks post op and down 28lbs. He gave me 1 1/2cc to get started.

I am glad to hear that. I had my lap band done dec 18 2012. He put in a little during surgery so i too am nervous when i go get my first awake fill. So i am glad to hear yours went good! But i am still nervous. Lol

  17. Posting recipes is contagious...this site got me going on the laughing cow cheese with tuna.

I haven't seen the Perdue portioned chicken yet but will certainly keep my eyes open for it. I hate having to cut and individually wrap my meat before freezing. I do it of course but it would be nice if it already came that way!

If you are close to a food lion or Walmart they have it already seasoned in lemon and Italian. Just put in freezer bause they are pre packaged.

  19. Hi. My name is Nakeishia and I am new here as well. I just got banded on January 2nd. I really need the motivation to keep going. My stomach is so sore after the surgery. I am also so tired of liquids. Can anyone offer any advice?

Hey Nakeishia. I was banded December 18 and girl i know how you feel. But it will get better....... i am sore still especially around the port area. I was sick of liquids to but girl it all part of the process........ hang in there it will get better.... the first week of liquids i lost 3lbs....... and the week of my lap band with liquids i lost 6lbs so i lost 9lbs in 2 weeks. Give it time girl. I felt like i had been run over but now it is getting better........ please do as your dr tells you and good luck.

  20. Hi all' date='

So I just had my endoscopy done which was the final pre testing for my surgery. My insurance requires the 6 month pre diet and to be honest I've stayed exactly the same weight. My doctor told me I needed to lose 7 pounds before my surgery. I have been dieting (not perfect) but with no luck. Anyway, did anyone else have the 6 month diet? If so when did you finally get a surgery date? Did you have to wait until after you received approval or do they give it to you pending approval? Just curious. Thanks for all the help! Very excited![/quote']

Hi and yes i too had to do the 6 month diet. My insurance was approved as soon as i did the orientation. I think most insurance require that now before they pay for it to see if you can do it on your own. But i did not loose any weight not until i did the liquid diet.
