Hi, I was banded in nov 2012, I've lost 50 ish lbs. I'm currently in a plateau. Im frustrated but I know if I keep up what I'm doing, it's going to go. I just had another fill and I think I'm really feeling restriction - finally!! I'll admit I've indulged here and there, but I try to choose my indulgence. It's not easy. I don't anything except Protein drinks and Water. Anything else tastes nasty now! Weird huh? I have had only one hamburger since oct 2012, one fry which I couldn't stomach, and the best thing is that I'm eating sooooooo much better..!!!! More chicken, fish and veggies!!! Yes I had wls, but it's a tool. You still have to watch what you eat.
I admit I'm frustrated that I'm not farther along, but I haven't given up. And I don't plan on it.
I am feeling wonderful, I can do things I haven't been able to do in years and for much longer amounts of time.
I hope the other nov 2012 are doing good!!!

My wife and I were banded November 6th. I am down 117lbs, in the same time, my wife has lost 65lbs. She has also plateaued, and is getting frustrated given how much I have lost, but she is staying positive and working out more than ever. She had some other medical issues going on the past few months which may have contributed to her not losing any weight all summer.

I am in the same place. I work from home and have that head game of always needing to snack. I keep gum by me at all times because I find that I am not hungry, just needing to chew on or have something in my mouth. If I am absolutely going crazy I have Dum Dum suckers or SF hard candy that I can take and that seems to help. Good luck!! You aren't alone.

JenWis6 got a reaction from donna12 in Biotin & Nioxin products for hair
I am in the same position as you are. I have been wearing baseball hats on a daily basis to cover my thinning hair and was told that is bad too because it doesn't allow your hair to breath. I have been taking Biotin daily and using Nioxin for a year now and really don't notice much of a difference in regards to the Nioxin. I do notice it makes my hair feel and look heavier like there is a coating on it. I am just using up the product I have and I think I am done. Not seeing the results to justify the price. My grandmother was thinning in the hair area too so I am assuming I am dealing with genetics but I too am at a loss. Ready to invest in a couple of wigs. Good luck on your end.

I used Nioxin a few years ago, and it was GREAT! My hair was falling out, and the Nioxin stopped it. The hair did fill in, and though I'm not certain that Nioxin stimulates growth, hair tends to grow back after a shed, anyway. If Hair loss is due to male pattern baldness (yes, women get it too), then I think that's a different story. I could be wrong, but I remember hearing that awhile back. And now that we're talking about it, I'm going to pick up some Nioxin today
Hey, maybe we can get group rates at the Hair Club! SERIOUSLY, my hair is already very fine, and I told may hairdresser that I'm going to end up with a wig in the next 2-3 years. Sad.....

JenWis6 reacted to Veronica68 in Has anyone tried the Rogaine products for the hair loss?
I started loosing a bunch of hair about 5-6 months post-op. I went to the dermatologist, he assured me I wasn't going bald. He said the body goes into a kind of shock after rapid weight loss. The hairloss stopped about 3 months later. I didn't use Biotin or anything else, just waited it out. Try not to worry!

JenWis6 reacted to GuyMontag in ACL injury - hoping for some insite from my lapband buddies
I've had to fight injuries here and there and for me it seems like diet/exercise is about 80/20 of weight loss. You'll still be able to lose about 80% of the weight you need to through diet alone. Also, when I injured myself I always found that completely resting whatever I had injured for several weeks always helped. Don't try to rehab something that is healing on its own. Those are valuable lessons that I have learned. Good luck!

I started my LB journey because of the pain my body was going through, just trying to keep up with basic daily activities. Since being banded I have done very little exercising, due to said pain. The years of carrying around 100+ extra pounds has left me with bone on bone knee joints. Yes, taking off 100 lbs has help, but the damage was done. My weight also was beginning to stall b/c of my slow metabolism, I needed to start exercising.
10 days ago, I had a Lt total knee replacement ( Rt is scheduled for Sept 11) and I am so excited by just what I can now do with my physical therapist. 4hrs after surgery they expected me to just stand up and then sit in a chair. I was able to walk down to nurses station and back ( I had farthest room from ns). Yesterday
PT had me doing stair climbing, say what???? lol 10 days later I'm ready to get rid of my cane.
Hoping for the same results on the right knee (xray said that was my worse knee)
I am so excited about my new future! Thanks to the LBS for getting me there!
Weight goal here I come, one step at a time.

So sorry to hear that you are having a head time...it's those stupid steroids! I've been on them multiple times since being banded and yes, they make me feel like a monster with a MONSTER appetite!
Just get yourself healthy and then you can get back to working your band. Just remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint!!! I have that saying printed out and hanging up by my computer because I need to keep reminding myself how this should be working.

EJRN you will be told many times, it isn't about the scale but the inches. I have been stuck for about 2.5 months but I am still loosing inches and have dropped another size. I always tell myself "Keep on moving forward and don't look back."

LOL. First off, great job on the weight loss. I know exactly what you are talking about. I was at my sons baseball game a month ago wearing my favorite t-shirt and had a friend tell me if I didn't clean out my closet and show off my new body she would do it for me Embrace the new you and show off what you have worked so hard to change. You deserve the treat.

Was hanging out with my (skinny) friend, looking in shops and whatnot. Ended up in Target with which I have a love/hate relationship. Their prices can be great but their sizing sucks. So, a short sleeved cardigan caught my eye. I handed my purse to my friend and said "I'm going to try this on but I know it won't fit." after all, it was a Large and I barely fit in XXL in that store. Well, imagine my shock when it slipped right on and fit comfortably even with my shirt underneath.
Goes to show that when you aren't feeling like you're doing so great, you can be presently surprised!

I had to come share my new NSV moment with you all because my husband doesn't get it. I have hit a bump in the road after tearing my meniscus and possible ACL in June. I am scheduled for an arthroscopy next month. My workouts have been cut WAY back to a recumbent bike only and I am only able to tolerate 20 minutes.
I have been maintaining my weight loss but have not lost anything since April. Today I went to Walmart looking for some shorts that fit and was able to fit into misses 18 shorts and get them buttoned!! Along with the shorts I was able to buy 2 sundresses in an XL which I don't think I have worn in over 12 years.
After feeling down the past couple of weeks this was a much needed pick-me-up. Thanks for letting me share. Doing the happy dance right now.
