    Hi there!! Im in Mentone and on the 30th november im getting my 2nd band put it. Im actually looking forward to it!!! Way mire doctor support here than hobart were i got my first done!!! Im on Optifast for 2 weeks pre-op, is it just me or is it disgusting!!!!! Anyways hope to hear from you soon

    OMG!!!!! Work is horrible, so busy and im sick of asking if peeps want tarts or chrissie cakes and rolls in paper or plastic! Honestly the only thing we dont ask is would you like fries with that!
    Im 3 weeks out or 21 days. I got my fill on wednesday which was fine. I lost 5kg in the first week. I asked him how big our pouch is and he said only enough to hold a teaspoon cos i said i was confused by the book, so thats why we have to wait between bites. I also asked him what i could eat at work when im starving and he said some nuts, tried it thursday night cos we closed at 9:30pm and it worked. I asked him if i could see the dietician but he said he doesnt place a big emphasis on it, but im so out of ideas on food that im borred with food and i need to understand this band as my last one i could almost eat a full size meal. And plus WE have paid a massive amount to get this after care its even in the book and description of fees.
    Oh the duetion helen something, cant remember her last name has a web site that has recipes that i would have never thought of. It doesnt have cals but the only bad thing in some is oil for the pan which spray could subsitute.
    Apart from that in the middle of the night im hungry and i have a bottle if Water on my bed side table i have a few skulls and tell myself im full. Im down just over 10kg. With my last band it took me about a year to loose that. So now my depression has gone. And im below 110kg in a while so im pretty happy!
    Hope everyone is going well, including the chrissie shopping!!!! Ive got in my head what im going to eat for chrissie lunch, but my brother just told me that i put a 2 cent bet on that my 18 month old nephew will eat 3 times more than me!!!!!!! And im 32!! Hey at least unlike everyone else we wont put on chrissie weight!!! I used to use it as an excuse!!!
    Anyways another essay from me, the myans got it wrong, we are still here the world didnt end! Someone will get it right one day!!! Have a fantastic night and even better weekend and i wish everyone a wonderful christmas!!

    Thanks for the welcome skuzzie. The first dietician appointment with Helen (a beautiful, caring, approachable lady) was a group meeting at The Avenue. At that meeting Helen explained exactly how the lapband works and what sort of foods work with the band. She will give you paper and a pen to take notes and take down the notes. They are great to refer to weeks down the track. You'll have an opportunity to ask questions and don't be shy to ask anything, that's what she is there for. She does have a couple of books and DVDs I bought them all at the end of the session. I find them quite resourceful and often go and read them to keep everything fresh in my mind. It's up to you if you feel you want to purchase them otherwise she pretty much covers it all in her first session. She will also organise a night out at a restaurant, go to it, it's so informative, she will teach you about bite sizes, if you thought you had the right bite size all figured out wait till you actually go out to the dinner, lol. I was initially hesitant to go as I'm quiet a shy person but I am so glad I did, my group was a great bunch of people, we enjoyed good food, good company, good information and a good glass of wine or two (yes with our meals, we are allowed to drink with our meals as long as you do it correctly).
    Now how do I feel after loosing 36.8 kilos as of today? Way back at my heaviest I was constantly tired, I'd wake up in the mornings tired and a few hours later was ready for another nap, I'd be tired every minute, I didn't sleep well at night because I had developed the disgusting snoring. That's all gone now, that actually started to improve within a few months of being banded, I no longer snore and I sleep like a normal person and am rested on even just 6 hours of sleep per day. I no longer feel that need to have that nanna nap in the afternoon. I feel so much more energetic, I look much more awake and I am even thinking much more clearly. I used to have a lot of knee pain, I no longer have that, back pain I've always had and it was worse at my heaviest, I still get it from time to time but nothing like it was before. My skin is clearer and softer. My confidence levels are improving, I always hated even going out shopping as I'd be so conscious that people would judge what I put in my trolley. I hated social situations because I hated how I felt and how I looked and was so self-conscious. Now I love going out, sure I still have a way to go in how much I need to loose but I no longer always feel like I am the biggest person in the room, and believe me I used to always be the biggest in every room i'd walk into.
    food wise I follow the Protein, veggies rule, I drink two litres plus of Water per day. I used to drink herbal teas but have gone off them now and I've always liked my Water so don't have any problems getting the required amount in. Months ago I did a search online for high Protein receipes as I needed new ideas as to what to eat and went through a heap of them and picked out the ones I felt were suitable for me and made my own high protein cookbook. I eat fish,lamb (backstraps, a bit expensive but no fat in them), beef from time to time, chicken, vegetables, I don't eat the starchy type like your potatoes, every now and then if my kids are eating hot chips I sneak three or four and i'm done. I love my salads so I make them interesting if I am having that instead of vegetables with my protein. Some days I can eat a cup of food (which is recommended) other days I can only manage 1/2 cup of food. I love my bread and still at that till about a month ago but haven't had much of a craving for it lately. Yesterday morning I had one piece of wholemeal toast with a scrapping of Peanut Butter and it was a struggle to get it down.
    Sounds like you are doing really well, just follow the rules and you will be fine. If you have any concerns bring it up with the aftercare team, that's what they are there for and paid for and they really are a great bunch of people.
    Oh and I forgot exercise, I walk every day, haven't been so much the last few weeks as I got sick but that's all the exercise I do for now. I want to go back to water aerobics and will do so in the new year now that I feel more comfy getting into a pair of shorts and t-shirt.
    At the moment I am dropping anywhere between 400 grams and 700 grams per day. Seems like my little stubbon plateau has ended and I'm loosing like I was at the beginning of being banded. Fingers crossed it continues for a while. I didn't do anything special to break it I just kept doing wht I was supposed to and eat right and exercise.

    Welcome summer, and im glad you found us! Can you give me a heads up on what happens at the dietician sessions? I under stand that she has written a book, would you recomend getting it before the first appoitment with her? Also any recipe ideas ive just started week 3 and i think i might be in the green zone, im not hungry between meals and have and enjoy coffee for breakie. i have my first post-op appoitment on wednesday. My doc is mr burton , lovely man!!
    I agree even though it does cost quite a bit i dont think we could ask for better centre. Have you found your health has changed? Im looking foward 2 having 2 thighs instead of one!! Especially i hope for next summer! Cos i would love love to were skirts again, and less knee pain especially when walk on the beach!! I grew up in Ocean Grove, so no idea why i would ever to move to ballarat, melbourne, hobart, ocean grove and now melb again. But to get my 2nd band, i dont think i could ever have chosen a better centre and im glad i stared this thread as the site is so amercian!
    did you have any medical issues before, that are easing because of your weight loss? I dont have any besides sore knees, except a massive family history that my parents have, including dads side with diabetes. So welcome again with big cuddly hugs from all of us!!!!! Any advice is greatly welcomed!!!

    Welcone with big cuddly hugs from all of us chelsea!!! I think you would make us laugh if you were 32!!!! And in melb!!! Im also with bupa they cover everything but are not friends with every hospital cos i had to pay for the days i stayed. Do research and talk to any one and every one!! Oh im happy today 2 weeks post-op 7.9kg. Oh my advice dont have metamucil in the morning cos i did and didnt eat all day!!! Totally not hungry! I was waiting to get hungry, weirdest feeling ever! I used to chuck heaps with my old band but it doesnt hurt only the pain from being stuck. Which passes but you dont feel like eating after it. Today im off mushies and softer food with like extra sauce or mayo. I was tested today i ate out with my friend and i had sumo salad and i asked for less lettuce, it was a chicken cheese avacado mayo and i did really well!! As long as you chew food to mush and you wait a min inbetween swallows you should be fine.
    I just had tea and to help keep the cals down cos of the mayo and crumbed chicken and cheese i decided not to have Protein tonight, i no that i shouldnt. So i had avacado, 1 sugar snap pea, mushrooms and 2 cherry tomatoes and mustard mayo, weighed it so i can track my cals. Oh advice with tomatoes, i found the skin was hard to chew so i peeled them and still stuck to my 1/2 a cup.
    Otherwise ive just finished my 2 weeks off and go back to work at bakers delight tomorrow! I will only miss the spinach fetta and cheese danish after we stick them in the oven.
    Oh i found a steamer is a fantasic way to chuck everything in inluding eggs, so as everyone but me has kidies, well i dont know if 2 zhu zhu pets count. Its a george forman $49 and fits tons. If you have any questions ask away and i have this on my mobile so i can get back quickly. Im great at writing essays!!! Oh if you have an android phone, i would recomend downloading my fitness pal so you can track your weight and cals and exercise. Also calorie king or you can get the book, its great especially for coffees!!! Have a great night and great to see so many of us on here!!!

    Hi there. When i had my first band in 4 years ago when i had my first fill i felt faint as well. I had it taken out 2 years later and of course in 18 months i put the 20kg back on, no idea in pounds, im in Australia. So i got a new bright shinny one on 30/12/12. And its a smaller band this time cos we only eat 1/2 a cup meals 3 maximum and they put Fluid in at the time and 2 weeks out and im already in the green zone. Do they treat you differently cos you had your surgery in Mexico? Its great that you get after care though!! How are you feeling after your adjustment or fill?

    Steve!! You sound like just the person I was looking for. I'm in Tasmania Australia was banded August 14 and in my free fluids stage and I'm over it. Not sure if the whole process down here is a bit different to you guys but post op there doesn't seem to be much support! This forum has been a life saver. Tell me what kind of things did u eat on liquids that kept you satisfied?
    Any ideas would be great!!

    I weighed myself this morning and down 5.3kg or 11lbs. I had lunch with my friend today well i had a skiiny flat white with a horrible sweetner while she had 2 sushi rolls and coffee. I was thinking about all those cals in the rice. Weird. So until tea (dinner) i had only 1 coffee and about 2 bottles of Water cos it was so hot. And i did 30 mins on the wii fit and got 155cals. For tea i used my 1/2 cup to try and measurre for a small fish fillet from my dad and vegies. So my george forman steamer is great saves on time and washing up!!! So i had preparred 2 very small fillets of fish and 1 of each- a piece of cauliflower, sweet potato, brocili and i put them in the cup and pretty close!! Good guess! I mashed and then put some sweet chilli sauce through it. I had 2 mouthfuls totally yummy and 1 did the 1 minute rule and i lost interest in it. In the book it says when you dont eat all on your plate think of it as food for angels so they ate well!! Oh i found something very helpful from 7 years ago on my last diet i had 1 book were i had written down foods weight cals. So i started that with the foods im having now so i can add to it later. And a seperate book for what i eat each day, including Breakfast lunch or tea and coffee inbetween, because you are allowed Snacks as well maybe this could be handy for you. Plus my weight every saturday including total loss and down the bottom i write exercise. So i put the wii and cals and also walking around the shops for about 2 hours. My poor blister is bigger!!! And considering i was wearing thongs today it made it worse, but im not going anywere tommorow just going to exercise with the wii. I have fit plus, mel b's and biggest loser challenge ( amercian) which gives a great workout!! Its weird that feeling isnt that. We got told to call it saiety which is your satisfied without being full. Congrats on your first meal out. What did you have with your fish? Have a great night

    yes, it's winter weather right now, that's why it wasn't so hard for me to get through the liquid stage, lol. i went & got a food scale & today even went out to dinner with my husband. what's nice, i get like 3 meals out of the fish i ordered! for a moment i thought i was gonna have a "stuck" moment, but it was a false alarm, thank god. i ate about only half of my 3 oz of fish. i don't feel any different, but i do feel somethin in me to "stop" eating. i don't know how to explain it. been keeping on track & my husband even took me shopping for workout shoes & food to make it easier on me when i cook for him & my daughter. how's your blister? i feel pretty good & my strips are falling off.... it was great not getting tired the 1st 15 mins into shopping >_<

    Wow your plan is massive!! On the forum of food and nutrition someone has a written a thread on Snacks for 100 cals. Im still trying to finish my book but were they put the band is at the top of the stomach so there isnt even a pouch like the first time i had it. I suppose thats why we cant have snacks or more than 3 meals. I took my dressings off and they all are healing well. And the best thing for them is fresh air so top off except my bra that presses on 1 cut and holds up one boob so its relaxing laying on the couch with the fan on. I just did the shopping and i brought eggs, a choice of large or large! I was even tempted to go down the chocie isle. If you have an android or iphone search for calorie king and it has the cals fat and entre weight or amount, much cheaper than buying the book! I brought a steamer and also a microwave 3 egg cooker in the shape of a chicken, most cute!! Tommorrow is going to be 37 degrees so i have mushie apples already in the fridge to have if im hungry in the morning. Have a lovely night, you guys have winter there? And also guess what we both finally made it through a week of fluids!!!!!! Cya

    I agree if we are in the green zone we have 3 or less meals a day of 1/2 a cup of food. Protein for us is so much more important. I mean sprouts, bread, Pasta. We would pb that up

    On friday im heading home and decided on the way i would stop at the frozen penguin. Which is a cheap frozen food shop including vegies and fish. Then only a 2 & 1/2 hour drive home. Im also going to get a cheap steamer which ill be able to use for mushies and to steam stuff when im on solids. And im going to start on saturday weighing myself weekly and each day writing foods calories and even write if i have any mental issues so im accountable to try and keep my cals less than 1000. I have my first fill in 3 weeks which i remember being fun! Have a lovely day

    I had my hair done and i feel like a new me. I treated myself to a small skinny flat white from gloria geans which is about 100cals. Went for a 20 min walk then Soup for tea. I realised that i will be on day 2 of mushies on sunday night when we have our christmas tea. So im not going to go. I dont want to have to explain myself and im on 2 weeks sick leave from there anyways. Well that and i dont have to worry about getting a k.k gift. Oh k.k means kris kringle. Its like secret santa. Tatoooomy im so happy to hear your going well! I think for my mushies on saturday im going to do 2 days of vegies with spice and herbs just so i dont put any extra pressure on the piece of stomach he had to cut out. And i think egg and steamed fish for Protein. Hows your hubby going with your new lifestyle especially the food aspect? Well its past midnight so good night everyone keep up the wonderful work!!!!

    How is everyone? I had my op friday morning and when the doc when to put my band in there was mesh in the way that Tasmanian surgon uses. He said he had to remove part of my stomach so he could place the band. He said that there would not have been enough stomach to do a sleeve!!! But the worst bit...... A cut unbetween boobs were your bra sits and another underneigh one of my tits!! So tomorrow mum is taking me into town so i can get a comfy bra. It was bad no internet reception! So how is everyone going? I had 2 days of black tea, beef broth and apple juice. So now im out ive got kiddie size low cal o.j of which for a meal i probley drank half and a cup of chicken noodle Soup with the noodles out. Our docs gave us an a4 booklet on the first month and basically it says this is the only week we should have fluids as meals for the rest of our banded lives. Cos i guess its true you dont learn healthy eating habits by having shakes. What else... Not much no cute nurses but make sure everyone supports their tummy and does deep breathing and coughing to help prevent and lung infection. Im afraid i dont have big massive hugs tonight. Just small ones!

    Hi. Me to! Im looking forward to it being put back in after 2 years cos i know it works!! Im in Melbourne Australia so with the time difference we will probely having done at the same time. I wish you and our december friends the best of luck and a new found health and happiness, well when the pain goes. Oh and expect left shoulder tip pain from the air they put in during surgery. Heat packs worked the best for me. Big hugs to everyone
