  1. How about YouTube...dr o'brien. Or just enter the word lapband. Lots of info there. Good luck.

    May Surgery Dates???

Google what just 1lb of fat looks like... No matter how big or small a loss your body is saying thank you thank you thank you!

    Pain in left shoulder??

Soon. I know it's a real nuisance, just like a toothache. I took Tylenol and it helped. Heating pad felt goodmas well. It gets lesser and lesser but it would rear its ugly head once in awhile for the first month after surgery.
  4. Take a look at bodywellfitness.com... Sue Duncan does an amazing job on her blogs and there's lots there to get the mind thinking...she has a sister who's been banded. Sue works at Smartshape (previously called swlc), she does my fills, but has a real insight and knowledge of everything band related. I think she's great and wouldn't hesitate to ask her anything.

    Don't Ever look Back!!

So true..even it they're baby steps.
  6. There's a lapband meeting, may 16th, in Mississauga. Tomander (member on here) has set it up, dr cobourn is going to be there to answer your lapband questions. There are still a few seats available. No cost. If you go on the Local tab, then to Canada tab, you'll see a thread for tomander relating to the meeting. It will explain how to sign up. Even though I was banded in November, I still have some questions and I'm sure there will be questions asked that I never thought about. It's a good way to connect with some who have been banded, some who have not..and also a good way to have any fears relieved. Nothing to lose. Hope you sign up!

    My Dearest Band...

Beautiful post, beautiful woman. Thank you.
  8. Welcome to swlc! They've had a name change.. It's now called Smartshape, at least that's what I think the new name is. You won't be disappointed with the care you receive and the compassionate way they are with you. Feels like home! Best of luck to all of you! Maybe once your surgeries are done and you're on the mend we could all meet up and share what we know, havent figured out yet. Not sure where you're from in Ontario? I'm a little north of Mississauga. Wishing all 3 of you the very best.
  9. Yes yes oh yes...he's an amazing dr, the rest of the staff are amazing as well. They've had evening webinars that have been so helpful, they have exercise classes, they're on top of it all. They never give up on you. You're in great hands. Good luck with your surgery and stay in touch. Everything will go well, just remember to take care of yourself, don't panic or stress...the drs office is your number 1 go to place to answer all your questions.
  10. No snow, nice weather, the smell of lilacs in the air. What a great way to celebrate the new you! Will it be with Dr hunkahunka burning love Colborn? And have you met with him?

    Fat-Free Yogurt?

The last thing I do before I cross the border and come home to Ontario Canada is grocery shop in Michigan. USA has the best yogurts/Greek yogurts around. We don't have near the variety you guys have so I stock up while I'm there. Heading to Michigan in 3 weeks..already excited about grocery shopping!

    Intimacy & Port Pain

You go girl! I'm pretty sure it's just some muscle irritation around the port site...after all, it's stitched to muscle (not speaking for everyone, but mine is). So if you've had an, um, shall we say 'active' night then you're going to have a reminder of it for a couple of days after. I wouldn't worry. If you do, just give your drs office a quick call to reassure yourself.

    I need a Swift Kick

Forget that word 'restriction', the band doesn't restrict. The band will dim your appetite if you allow it to. It is a TOOL. It is there to aid you if you allow it to. You can eat slider foods to your hearts content and you will fail. The band hasn't failed you, you've failed yourself by not making wise choices. If you made proper food choices and do what you signed up to do, then you WILL be satiated, and that's what the game is all about. You have to want this, you have to be able to differentiate between head hunger and true food hunger. It's not easy, but if you want to be successful then you'll figure it out, if you can't figure it out then you owe it to yourself to ask for help.

    Bushwhacked by a donut...

Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over again. We always have do overs. Best of luck tomorrow!

    Gallbladder removed today

Had lapband surgery nov 2012, had gallbladder surgery mar 2013. Gallbladder surgery was a breeze, no gas pains, nothing. Same dr did both surgeries.
  18. Yup, I went through the same thing. Take your meds,,then get your other meds in the morning. I was fine, you will be too. Sometimes it sucks to be a woman.

    Wonderful Food Filled Weekend!

Don't beat yourself up over it. I think we have all had our "last meal" and thoroughly enjoyed it, nothing to feel bad or,guilty over. It's funny how our eating habits change so much once we're banded and what we once loved to eat doesn't appeal to us anymore. You'll understand what I mean in the near future. I'm glad you had a nice bday with your daughter, her next birthday will probably totally different for you and you won't feel one bit deprived. You can have it all and eat your cake too, the piece is just going to be smaller.
  20. Perfect timing! You'll love the people at Smartshape, they're amazing, so helpful. I think it was meant to be for you.

    Does getting a fill hurt

I hate needles, but this is just a tiny prick. That's never hurt us before.
  22. I wish that word "restriction" didn't exist. You're right, it's not about restriction, it's about satiety. You should never feel restriction, that not what the band is about. I hope everybody reads that link, it says it all. Thanks for posting it.

    Love advice...help~!

Perhaps he hadn't seen his brother in awhile? And wanted to spend some time with him. He did tell you about the dinner, he wasn't hiding that or lying about that. Guys don't think the way we think, they're not as sensitive as we are. He probably doesn't get why you're upset. I say just let it go, what's done is done. You've let him know that it hurt you so hopefully he understands for the future.
