  1. That's got to be tough having reminders around. Is it anything your mom could keep in her room? Sort of out of sight out of mind. I know that feeling of tasting the food without actually tasting the food. It always tastes better in my head than the actual real taste. Good luck conquering that. If you come up with the solution to craving, please share. You could make a fortune.
  2. Have you seen what a pound of actual body fat looks like? I wouldn't be discouraged. You might think 1 or 2 or 3 pounds isn't much, but it really is a big deal. Fat is a big blob of yellow yuck. Google it, you'll see. You just did your body a huge flavour by getting rid of it. I say congrats to all of you, way to go!

    Seriously Embarrassed !

I was thinking that I hadn't had any truly embarrassing moments until I read the thread about the beach. We were in Nassau, it was really rough getting out of the waves and onto the beach. I managed to do it every time except once. The waves threw me up on the beach and every time I tried to get up another wave would knock me down and rolled me further down the beach, it was exhausting. And with every roll I could feel the bottom of my bathing suit inching closer and closer to the crack of my butt. I'm not sure if I was more worried about that sight than me rolling down the beach. By the time I got the strength to stand up my bathing suit bottom was tightly wedged, you know where. The cabana boys were laughing it up, glad I made their day. Omg how embarrassing.

    Great find

We used this company for my mother when she got out of the hospital..could only eat minced foods. Meals on wheels provides the same service. They're convenient but I doubt you're going to be getting anywhere near the protein you need. If you're going to be using them please let us know how you find the meals. Perhaps a lot has changed over the last 3years.

Wait wait...." you're laying on my face " is right up there also. Too funny.

    Seriously Embarrassed !

I really think someone should collect all these stories and publish a book. They're all so funny, I have pictured every story I've read and think they're hilarious.... Especially "did you check under mom". I've re-read that a few times and stil laugh at it. Kids!!

    Upcoming surgery

To shrink your liver so they can get to your stomach easier. A fatty liver (which we all have on this forum) just gets in the way.

    Seriously Embarrassed !

You all have made me laugh out loud. I don't want anyone to get hurt, but there's something about seeing someone in that kind of a predicament that just breaks me up. I think I must have a sick sense of humor. I wish there were more postings of crazy things that have happened due to weight issues. Better to laugh at ourselves than cry. You posts have made my night, thank you for that.
  9. I totally get what you're saying. I was banded November, going for my 2nd fill next week, hope it gets me closer to where I need to be. I eat my Protein first, I eat the amount I'm supposed to eat, I follow all the rules, I drink plenty..and I'm still hungry. Not hungry like before I was banded, but hungry nonetheless.
  10. Sorry, didn't answer you about restriction/fill. By the time you have your first fill, you won't have the restriction that you're feeling right now. Once the swelling goes away, your restriction will lessen as well.
  11. Yes, no issues at all. Right now it's the swelling that you're having issues with. You'll be amazed at how quickly you'll feel better once you get through these first few days. I had my first fill about a month after surgery, again no issues. I wanted to get another fill last week but I was flying out to Jamaica and they won't do a fill within 2 weeks of flying. Not sure why, perhaps someone else can answer that. Something to do with swelling/altitude..I think. So, will be getting a fill next Tuesday once I'm home.
  12. Yes, dr c. At swlc in miss. I think you'll be fine tomorrow, I was good day 2, but day 3 was worse for me mobility wise. The incisions gave me some grief, I quit taking prescribed meds, probably should've stayed on them another day. Live and learn.

    Thrush??

Yup, had it. It showed up about a week or so after surgery. Yuck is right. Never had it before, don't want it again.
  14. Hi wozzicat, I believe you and I were banded at the same place, I also have a 10cc band and I also was struggling to get liquids in for the first few days. These forums made me very nervous because I kept reading drink, drink, drink...and I wanted to reply I can't, I can't, I can't. My 3rd day was my worst day. But after that things to better day by day. Give yourself time, do what you can to drink but don't feel guilty if you can't get it all in. You eventually will. Best of luck!

    Upcoming surgery

Dr C was my doctor,I was banded in November 2012. He's a great dr, nothing to be afraid of. I was nervous and felt overwhelmed as I got closer to surgery date but it was all for naught. I followed dr's ordered and drank my protein drinks and had sugar free Popsicles. I really didnt need anything more. It did feel a little surreal to be honest, couldn't believe I was actually having this foreign thing put in my body but don't feel that way now. All good. I'm happy, it has changed everything about me, and all in a good way.

    Newly Post Ops & Doubts

Yes ,totally. Your thoughts were my thoughts. I was banded a little over 2 months ago and don't give it a second thought now. It has changed my life and I'm glad I did it.

    Snow storm

In Toronto..wondering if my flight to Jamaica is going to be delayed due to storm. Supposed to fly out at 10:30 this morning. Keeping my fingers crossed that all goes according to plan.

    Pinterest lapband recipes

I just checked out lapband boards, wow..tons of them in pinterest. You'd be hard pressed not to find a lot of healthy and safe recipes. I know what I'll be doing tonight! (no, not cooking..pinning)
  19. For those of you who are into pinterest...there are some good recipes for lapbanders. Just search "lapband" and you'll find quite a few recipe boards. Something to look at. And interesting as well.
  20. So far so good, thanks for asking. I've lost 30 Ibs and have gained a lot of energy. I get some good info from the lapband forum, but i find there's not too much Canadian content, so I'm really excited to sit and talk to some "homeys" about what's available to us food wise, what's been working for other banders, talk to some veteran banders and just to get some local face to face support.
