  1. Happy 44th Birthday RichGirl!

  2. That's too bad Mark. The first question I will ask is did you follow nutrition guidelines? Did you follow directions on what and how much to eat? The band is only a tool not a miracle cure. You must work very hard at helping the band do its job by eating the correct foods and amounts. I would get an appointment with a nutritionist ASAP to help you with food planning, then I'd go back to the Dr. For a check up to make sure your band is ok. You certainly can do this, but it takes determination and will. Good luck and you will have a lot of support here on this forum.

    First fill

I had my first fill today and I was banded on 11/28. The entire process took less than 5 seconds. He made me lay back with my hands behind my head and asked me to do a slight sit up so he could feel the port. Then he injected the port with 3 cc's of fluid. I did the drink test and was on my way. Fluids are required for 24 hours, then one day of soft foods. If tolerable, move to solids.

    November bandsters Unite

Hi all, I was banded 11/28 and I'm down 20 pounds. I finally started working out this week so hopefully it will start coming off a bit more. I'm able to eat more than I did and I'm a little worried. I get so hungry - it's like all of a sudden if I don't eat it's almost painful. I do track my food and I'm averaging about 1200 calories per day with the main source coming from protein. I go to the Dr for my second follow up this Wednesday so we will see.

    10 days post op?

The centers for bariatric excellence are doctors that have been highly trained and offer the most education for patients on bariatric surgeries. Also, insurance plans work really well with the centers. My Dr is one if the top in CT and my process went very smooth with the center. Google the bariatric centers of excellence. Doctors that are not part of them I'm sure are just fine but the centers for excellence have great resources.

    10 days post op?

That's awful? Is your Dr. A bariatric center for excellence dr? Just curious. My clears were only two days post surgery, then I went to liquids for a week now I'm on mushy foods. I can't imagine being on clears for 3 weeks after surgery.

    10 days post op?

I'm having the same issue. I had protein Water today so I managed to get in 70 grams today. I'm just having the same issue. The scale has stayed the same for a week and I'm thinking its because I'm not eating enough and whatever I do eat, my body is storing. I'm going to be two weeks Wednesday.

    10 days post op?

I did fine. I didn't eat, and just sipped Water with lime. I'm not eating enough either. My scale hasn't moved in4 days. It's so upsetting. I see the doctor on Wednesday so hopefully it will be fine. It's hard this time of year. I work in an industry where I'm constantly entertaining clients and I have an event tomorrow night. It's very stressful and everyone notices that I'm not consuming wine. I've been just telling people I've been under the weather.... Good luck thru the holidays! I'm trying so hard. I'm able to tolerate everything. Honestly the only difference is I get full faster but I don't feel any different right now besides the fact I'm following instructions on what to eat.

    One week post op.

Hi there, I'm a week and two days post surgery and I feel the same. I also had the hernia repair and I'm really uncomfortable too. I think it's normal but It might be comforting to know someone else feels the same. I'm really tired to. I'm trying to take it easy.
  10. I really like the Atkins advantage. I'm addicted to the mocha latte shake. It's 15g protein, 1g sugar, 160 calories and 2g net carbs. I tried the muscle milk... Vomit. I also tried EAS and the strawberry wasn't bad but overall the advantage ones are the best. I also had syntax double cookie and its way to watery. Yuck. I lost 13 pounds by doing the Atkins for 14 days. At least try it, you can buy them in a 4 pack for 5.99 and if you hate them, throw it away and you haven't wasted a lot of money.

    10 days post op?

I know everyone has a different regiment to follow. Hard boiled eggs are on my mushy list. I didn't mean to imply I eat eggs while eating soup LOL. I'm at the party and not drinking anything other than water with lime! Thanks everyone for your help.
  12. I'm 10 days post op and am eating mushy foods. Mainly soups/ hard boiled eggs. I'm not getting in a lot of calories because I'm full but I have to go to a holiday party tonight. Do you think it's too soon to partake in a small glass of wine? I probably won't drink unless I eat some more but just want to get some feedback?
  13. I was banded on 11/28 and had a hernia repair too which caused me to stay an extra day in the hospital. I started having strong pain in that area last night. I called the Dr today and he wanted me to go to the ER. I promised if the pain persisted, I'd go tomorrow. I'm wondering if anyone has had the same issue with hernia repair. Overall I feel ok with the exception of the pain in that area.
  14. Congrats! That's a huge success! I'm very happy for you.
