    What If I Get Denied?

I am anxiously waiting to hear back to see if I got approved for the band. I was wondering, if I don't get approved through my surgeon/office of choice does that mean I will not get approved somewhere else? Has anyone out there experienced this and can relate? I don't know how I will feel if I get denied for this bc I want it so bad! How long did it take some of you to get approved? Appreciate any thought you guys may have! Much love-Rebecca
  2. I talked with my primary care doctor today about the lap band she believes it's a good idea for me but stated that on average you only lose about 30 pounds. From the success stories I have read on here that doesn't seem like the case. Can anybody relate to how much weight they lost compared to only 30 pounds? I'm confused do you lose a lot of weight or a little amount of weight? My ideal goal weight would be between 130-140 pounds that's 170-180 pounds I would have to lose. Please help! Much love-Rebecca
  3. I just contacted my insurance company today and was really pleased with what they had to say! Next I contacted my hospital of choice and got in touch with their bariatric department. I registered am taking the questionnaire and doing the seminar tonight then it's a waiting game from there. Two week seems like it will be a year to see if I qualify but fingers crossed. I'm on my way to a better me! It just seems that family I have talked to about this doesn't seem supportive. I wish I had more support when it comes down to the bottom line. My husband supports me 100%. Has anybody delt with bad family opinions? How did it reflect your decision to continue on with your journey? Much love-Rebecca

    Newbie!!

Hello all! I have never been on a forum before. I recently got married and was looking through wedding photos and needless to say I was upset. I was nowhere near the weight I wanted to be on my wedding day. I am 20 years old with a BMI of 45 and a weight of 300. I need any and all advice on the lap band. I have tried everything under the sun to lose weight. I was a rugby player on my varsity team in high shool and even conditioning 4 days a week I was still heavier set. My husband and I want to start a family in three years after I finish my degree. Beig this weight it is physically impossible. Not only do I want to do this for my future children but also for my husband and of course myself. Anybody want to be my mentor through this journey? I look forward to hearing all of your advice!!!!
  6. Hi everyone! I have recently decided to make a change in my life. I just got married and I was looking back on wedding pictures and in a sense it kind of upset me. I have struggled with my weight my whole life. Needless to say I have tried everything. I was not the weight I wanted to be on my wedding day I am 20 years old with a BMI of 45 and a weight of 300. I have recently made the decision to go ahead and talk to someone about the procedure. My husband and I discussed what I had researched and we both think it would change my life for the better! I need all and any advice I can get. Where do I begin? Who do I talk to? I also have a heart condition which was brought on by my sufficient weight gain. I played rugby in high school and even conditioning 4 days a week I was still heavier set. My husband and I would love to start a family in about 3 years after I finish my degree and being this weight it's just not a possibility. Any knowledge would help tremendously! I really appreciate it and look forward to hearing from you!
