  1. I am in Richmond (Glen Allen) area. Not familar with Wytheville. Let me know if you ever come out this way. Maybe we can have coffee.
  2. That so awesome! I wish I had my mom with me on my journey!!
  3. There really isnt one answer to your question. Some people never need a fill. Some need one, some a few and some a lot. Everyone is different. Make sure you are eating the correct foods (high protein solids) and measuring and tracking your foods. Give your body time enough to register that you have fed it. Usually takes about 20-30 minutes. If you need more fills make sure you get what you need. Best of Luck to you!
  4. Sorry I dont have an answer for you. Where in VA are you from?
  5. My doctor gave me a guideline to use when looking for the best shakes. Maybe you can see if he/her has one. All shakes are not the same. I like pure Protein, unjury and nectar. It is a good time to be creative. You can use sugar free pudding mixes, syrups and even PB2 (a Peanut Butter flour) to flavor your shakes. Let us know when you find one you like Also some people like Isopure. http://www.theisopurecompany.com/en/drinks http://www.lap-band-surgery-site.com/bariatric-protein-shakes.html
  6. I would try to keep busy while you wait. Think positive. I really hope you can get approved to start a better life. I also agree reading through forum, visiting the chat room and searching on line. Just remember every doctor is different is different so when you start listen to what your doctor tells you first. Best of luck to you!!
  7. Congrats on the begining of you new journey! Just take it slow and let your body heal. I hope you continue to feel better every day!
  8. Love thanks so much for the link. I had not seen that one yet.
  9. Being satisfied is one of the hardest things to learn. It really helps me to measure my foods all the time because I can eat over but I choose not too. I dont need more. Also remember that your brain takes about 20-30 minutes to register the food in your tummy. When I am very hungry I try to take 5 minute break in the middle to help the process.
  10. It seems there are almost as many guidelines as there are doctors. You will find that all the time on the forum. Nice to see what others do. Congrats and best of luck!
  11. If you are talking mushies I dont think chicken other then canned chicken applies. Even now 4 years out if I go out with family or friends I make sure the place we go has soup options. I dont really have an issure with chicken unless it is over cooked. You also might want to try thighs. Also crock pot recipes are really great and easy.
  12. I will not and can not weigh myself every day but through this site I have learned that everyone is different and some people find themselves more accountable to weigh more often then I do. Same thing with calories. If I had to count the numbers would trip me. I understand for most it is a neccesity.
  13. Also the Ocean Spray mixes are really really good.
  14. Try drinking water with fresh lemon or cucumber. Not only tastey but also good for your skin. Im my opinion its ok to use mixes but I think you should also try to get in some plain pure water. Our bodies are 80 percent water. In saying that I meet my water goals and then I drink up to two low calorie gatorade. 40 calories a bottle. I freeze them and shake them up and it is like drinking a slushy.
  15. My port is nowhere near . It is on the left side under my ribs.
  16. Most people who have this problem is because they are using explorer and it sucks. Try using fire or Google chrome. I was having problems and someone suggested that in forum and it worked. I use firefox now.
  17. Also make sure you are staying hydrated! Drink lots of water.
  18. That is awesome!! I hope you are so proud of yourself!
  19. Sorry I have no idea but I am very curious to see responses .
  20. Jay what does your dr tell you to eat.?
  21. You can also buy already boiled in a bag at grocery store for lazy people like me.
  22. Well said Tru! I also ate a lot of beans. You can have cottage cheese, humus, soft cheeses like laughing cal. Some mix it with tuna, eggs, canned chicken,re fried beans, . This is when you start to get creative.
  23. I absolutely love my vita-mix but very very expensive. I have heard people use the bullet and they sell that at bed bath and beyond. If you don't have coupon you can print one onloine. Also if you don't like it they will take back if you have receipt. Also I have never puréed my foods. There are plenty of other options.
  24. I get pain sometimes around port. Usually because I sleep on it.
