  1. Does anyone else have issues with the thought of eating sometimes sounding gross? Or after you've eaten, even thinking about it makes you want to get sick? I'm having appetite issues, taste issues, food not sounding good...or if something starts out sounding good as soon as I take a few bites it's no longer good to me and the idea of trying to continue to eat makes me want to throw up.
  2. A friend of mine and her husband just had surgery with him. I don't want to have to drive to Norman, though. I have an appt set up with a doctor at Saints. They have a lapband practice. So hopefully he'll be someone I like and is helpful? Ugh, hate feeling like my care is kind of just "out there".
  3. Yes I am/was. My concern is how Siggi is able to bill insurance for her services. Does she bill under a physician? and if so, who is it because they may not be on my insurance?
  4. My surgeon moved his practice and I need help finding a new doctor!
  5. If you eat too much, does it feel "stuck" or do you feel nauseated? Almost everything I eat for about a week now feels painful after a little bit, no matter what it is. Not sure if I'm not chewing well, eating too fast, or if my band is too tight? He put in 5 cc's for my first fill. I'm uncomfortable even after a couple of bites regardless of what it is. I hate not knowing if something is normal or I'm doing something to cause it, etc. etc.

    First Fill

I keep forgetting to ask that! It's not written on my medical card they gave me, which I thought was odd. Good timing right before Thanksgiving too, huh? Ha! But I'm glad...keeps me from going overboard. I'm ready to move forward.

    First Fill

I'm back at work. He put in 6 cc! So far I haven't had any issues with water, but it feels a little uncomfortable, almost like if your bra is too tight through there? But I didn't know if it was normal to feel a little bit of irritation from just the tightening procedure alone?

    First Fill

Thanks ladies. I appreciate the responses and encouragement! I will definitely make sure things feel right before I leave. I'll definitely need to be aware of things after I leave too, since it's thanksgiving week and their office will be closed for two days. That should be an interesting holiday for me, having just had my first fill!
  9. I'm having my first fill in the morning via Fluoroscopy. I'm really nervous because of the horror stories I've read about people getting really sick after because it's too tight.

Hey we have the same doc!

    Confession Time

I'm actually in therapy for my food addiction. My therapist and I talked a lot before the band about how I was going to deal with the emotional part of being banded and I told him that I really didn't know what to expect, that I would find out soon enough and boy have I. I've been smacked in the face with it for sure. I appreciate everyone's support. I knew I needed to post on here because I needed the feedback.
  12. Well, I finally cracked under the pressure. Hate to admit that I gave in, but having food addiction issues took it's toll on this girl finally. I'm almost at week 5 on the post op diet. Saturday I got a kid's meal at Chick-fil-A for lunch. The 4 piece nuggets. I know it was not a smart move physically, but I can rationalize the heck out of anything. Well it didn't stop there. For supper I got a take out order of chips and queso. I couldn't eat all of it of course and didn't feel too great afterwards. Sunday I was still fighting temptation like crazy, but put myself back in focus and have stayed put. I don't like hiding what I eat, which is why I'm putting it out there for the world to see. I felt 'denied' for over a month and just couldn't stop obsessing. I hate that I still revert back to my old thought process too! Ugh!

    Hot Chocolate With Protein...

That was what the PA told me too. I don't really care for yogurt period...and really don't like Greek yogurt, but she told me to doctor it up as much as I can to get the protein in me. So when I go to the grocery store this weekend, I'll be wrinkling my nose and buying some. Ha! Thanks for the suggestions on flavors!
  14. At my first post-op appt on Tuesday, the PA had a Come to Jesus talk with me about my very low protein intake. So before I left I decided to try a product they sell there that is Hot Chocolate with Marshmallows by Health Wise and it has 15 grams of protein per packet. Good stuff if you're needing the protein help like I do. Having it for my breakfast this morning since OK had a cold front blast in yesterday.

I Am An Addict And I'm Tired Of It :(

I so understand what you're saying and I completely agree that insurance companies need to not look at bariatric surgery as "cosmetic" or whatever else their reasons are. You are right, food is like heroin, but we need it to live, so it's always available and we can't get away from it. I am very fortunate to have insurance that DOES cover it. I'm now 21 days post-op and am still struggling with the "food" issues...so yes, it is an addiction and food will always be a part of our lives. Good luck! I hope you're able to find a way to get help with your weight loss. Maybe you can write one of the head honchos and plead your case and see how they respond?
