I use my treadmill every morning. I watch all my trashy reality programs that my husband refuses to watch with me at night. It makes the time fly by and I actually look forward to exercising.

FYI-Many of us can eat anything we want within days of surgery. Your band is not filled so the stoma is wide open. BUT, most all of us are told to not eat solid food. We're told and instructed to consume liquids for a week and mushies for up to 4 weeks. solid food early after surgery can compromise the surgery by causing the sutures around your stomach to tear away.

I wanted to share this because it made me cry. I'm on holiday with my husband and I am climbing up a hill , when we get to the top there is a small area to squeeze through to get to the other side. I tell my husband I can't do it and turn around to climb back down. He asks me why and I say because ill get stuck because of my size. He takes my hand and leads me to the area and pushes me forward. I walk through with a space each side. I sat and cried for five minutes whilst my husband laughed at me. I cannot express my thanks to all the people who have walked with me through this journey and the ones who will continue to walk with me till I get o my goal. It's a great feeling.

I think going home by yourself will be fine. My husband took 5 days off work to help me and I really didn't need him at all. I actually told him to go play a round of golf on day two cause he was annoying me.

Hi everyone I am just now waiting for my wheelchair to get here because I've been discharged.
Surgery went great according to what the surgeon told my mom but I was in a lot of pain once I woke up in recovery. They pumped me full of meds. Gas pain is mild in my shoulders but it hurts to try to get a cleansing breath. Hopefully this goes away soon, more annoying that painful.
I am quite nauseous because I haven't eaten since before 10PM last night. All I know is I can't wait for some Jello and sugar free Popsicles as soon as I get home.
I am officially in band land!!!!

    Just do it!
I do the same thing when I am on vacation, I try to keep hydrated, listen to my band and only eat when others are eating. No junk Snacks laying around. You may find yourself putting on a couple of pounds, but that is the higher sodium content on restaurant foods and will come off in a couple of days. My last vacation week, I actually lost a pound AND 5 more as the excess sodium flushed from my system.
    Enjoy Tara

I started to type a reply to this post, then before I posted it I decided it best to delete it......
This forum, is comprised of people just starting out....struggling....still a long way to go with their weight loss....many stating that they're failures..(many will be)...and so on....
and just learning how to live with the band....
In order to be successful one has to be strict with oneself....and learn how to "Listen" to their band...know it inside out....get into the green.
There is a New Lifestyle with the band...one that will carry you for the rest of your life...but you have to "Learn" it now in the beginning....
I have learned this new lifestyle, my Band and I communicate very well, to the point I don't have to think about what I am doing anymore.....it would shock many people if I told them the things I can do at this point, and still not ever worry about gaining weight ever again....
But this site is made up of people who are not ready to hear that kind of stuff yet...they still have a ways to go...you can easily see it by the questions posted here....
Sometimes I see a question and I think: "If you have to ask.....then you're not ready for the answer" That may be why many people eventually leave this site, not much left here for them to learn....
As far a "Partying" and similar topics, just know there is a life AFTER you complete this journey....one most people would not understand or believe at their place of weight loss, and you first have to get through the initial phases first.....
I do things most people here would not understand....and my Surgeon knows full well, I tell him everything...but I'm no longer TRYING to get there....I am there...."I'm Finished"
Now I can get back to living my (new) normal life....and that is what is waiting for people here...IF you want to learn...

It's going to get easier. Try using a heating pad for th pain, sip as much Water as you can, take your pain meds on a regular basis and just relax.
It will get better. Don't give up before you've even started.

Hello all. I'm so sorry it has been so long since I have been on here. It has been a very crazy summer to say the least.
My previously, somewhat, healthy father in law was admitted to the hospital on July 5th becuase he couldn't breath. It quickly got worse. He was hospitalized for 3 weeks and then released with hospice. Once home he got "better". Up and moving around and even the hospice nurse said she didn't think he needed to be on hospice. That gave everyone a lot of hope. But sadly he died five days later, he was 11 days shy of his 55th birthday. Of course there is a ton more to this story...he was a functioning alcoholic, a smoker and we found out that he had been using meth for quite sometime.
My husband is one of four siblings and organizing the funeral and dealing with the aftermath has been problematic to say the least...he's the executor and his sibling are not happy about it. I think they think he is going to rip them off or something. It's been very stressful and is no where near over.
But again, I'm sorry for not coming on here at all. I want to say I just didn't have time...but there's always some time to catch up. I'm sorry.
Anywho, I'm doing good. Down a little over 40 lbs and no fills yets. I've been trying to make it a point to exercise every morning and just take better care of myself in general. Oh and I just had my one year Smokiversary on Monday (did I tell you guys I used to smoke? Yup, smoked for 17 years). Mike is absolutely over joyed that I finally quit and we celebrated on Monday with a trip to Cold Stone Creamery. I got a very tiny frozen yogurt with caramel and almonds...it was delish.
I hope you are all doing well. I tried to catch up a little...but the shear volume is just too much. I did see that Janet had her knee surgeries!!! That is awesome!
And Dee and Teri met! Again, awesome!
Oh and I saw Michelle is in Onederland, congrats!!
And Dawn has way too much candy right behind her desk...I 100% could not control myself around that much goodness!
Looking forward to catching up with all of you guys. Bye for now
Oh and on a weird tech note...I lost all my friends sometime in the past couple months. I looked at my profile and I now have zero friends...very weird.

I was a Diet Pepsi addict pre-surgery. I have used my surgery as a reason to break that habit, and I have. I have taken a very small sip or two of my husband's, and it just makes me burp.
Now, as a tradition, a mimosa or a poinsettia on Christmas Eve is still doable, I just drink it really, really slowly!

I concur! One of the biggest fights Mike and I have had was the day he tried to teach me to golf...it DID NOT go well. I got fed up and just wanted to drive the cart. He told me I couldn't drive till I could play properly. Huge fight followed. The "issue" actually ended up in our wedding vows...Mike had to vow that I could drive the cart whenever I wanted :-)
Well, it's my last day of "weekday freedom". Back to work on Monday :-(. Getting my oil changed right now, then it's off to finish a couple projects at home.
Hope you all have a great Friday.
