  1. Today's the day, right? How did it go?
  2. I think it is perfectly normal to be nervous. And about the catheter..they are professionals and have seen everything before. You'll be sleeping like a baby and never know it was there.
  3. Today's the day, right? How did it go?
  4. I'm just your classic grazer. I could eat all day long if I didn't pay attention.
  5. Start saving now. Also, I believe most cosmetic surgeons offer something called care credit. You might want to look into it. I think it's basically a credit card.
  6. I have Aetna. They cover 90%. I had to provide 3 years of medical records, complete a six month supervized diet, meet with a psychiatrist, and meet with a nutritionist before I can be submitted for approval. I am currently half way through the six months. And very, very hopeful that I will be approved.
  7. Congratulations and best of luck to you!
  8. Congratulations on realizing you were on a slippery slope and for getting back on track!
  9. The surgeon I'm using is not registered on lapband.com either and I have heard wonderful things about him. The thing to remember is that lapband.com is the website for the brand of band, lapband. Another commonly used band is the realize. I would just focus on the training and patient reviews of the surgeon, not the affiliation with a certain type of band.
  10. Congratulations and good luck!
  11. Personally, I have chose the band because I wanted something less invasive and mostly because I want a wls that I have to work at. I don't want bypass or a sleeve, where the initial weightloss is automatic...and I never learn how to eat "right" and gain all the weight back. I want something that I have to work at to change my eatting and exercise habits. I want banding because I want to change my lifestyle to a healther, more active one. That's just my opinion.
  12. Have you tried probiotics? Or fiber supplements?
  13. I love Hungry Girl! Been following her website for years.
  14. She could have sued! I believe that's a violation of HIPPA!!
  15. I haven't told any of my friends. Only my husband, immediate family and my supervisor at work (since I'll be using so much sick time). I have no desire to tell my friends. I know they'd view it as the "easy way out" and that simply isn't true. I'd rather not deal with the misconceptions.
  16. You're both so young! You have plenty of time to have kids. Wait the year and enjoy practicing
  17. You're so newly banded. Don't give up on it. Speak with your doctor and tell him your concerns. Together you can figure it out and be on your way to being a healthier you.
  18. It's awesome that you are trying something new. Comparing ourselves to others is a hard habit to break. The important thing is that you are exercising and I promise Zumba does get easier. I take a class at my local gym and it took a while to get the hang of...but in no time you'll be looking like a pro. And this is coming from someone with absolutely NO rythm!
  19. I think nerves are normal. Of course there are going to be people who have had bad experiences, but so many people have been SO successful. I think the key is to go in knowing that you have to work at it and to be ready for the challenges that lay ahead. Hope you feel better soon.
  20. I'm sorry you got no support 4 years ago. There are a ton of great people that you can learn from on this site. Good luck to you.
  21. That sounds DELICIOUS!
