  1. I had my surgery on the first. So far no major problems. I'm still sore and have had pain in the right side near my port and today I'm having some pain on the left side. I saw my surgeon yesterday at my first post op and he said I was still pretty swollen that he would have a better idea at my first fill on Nov. 8th if everything is ok still. I'm thinking some of this pain is just gas still but we'll see. I'm just really ready for the mashed/pureed part of the post surgery phase. This liquid diet is for the birds.
  2. you guys are making me hungary, lol! can't wait for the mushies, bring it on!
  3. Like everyone else said I wouldn't be too hard on yourself. However I would be curious to know tomorrow if it causes any problems with gas or your pouch. My doc told me alcohol would irritate the pouch just like caffeine. Anyone had any experience with that and know if it's true or not???
  4. Hey everyone! I replied to a couple of earlier posts before I realized they were from this summer. Is there anybody new this fall in the Evansville area??? My doc has a support group there, but I live in Jasper so it's easier to do support chatting online for me. Looking forward to meeting some friends. Carol
  5. I was banded on the first as well. My dietician/surgeon has a very strict diet schedule that we have to follow. The first 3 days including the day of surgery it was a clear liquid diet. Then day 4 to 18 is what they call a full liquid diet (things like yogurt' date=' cottage cheese, cream of wheat [watered down'] are ok. On day 19 I can finally start the mashed/puréed foods. They told me they do it this way so that the band has time to scar into place. So even though my surgery was on the first, I have to wait till the 19th before going to mashed foods. Then I stay on that diet till 5 weeks after surgery before moving back to solid foods again. I am soo ready for mashed foods???±???«

  7. Hi everyone! I got banded on Oct 1st and had my first post op appt today. There is some concern that I've been overdoing things (44 yr old married mom of 2 grade schoolers) and may have torn some stitches around the port. I started hurting in the port area 2 days ago. The surgeon says I'm still pretty swollen so he won't be able to tell anything till my first fill on Nov. 8th. I'm under orders to take it easy and no bending or twisting. Not sure how to avoid the bending entirely since I even bend a little when I'm eating (I mean drinking right now). Any advice would be appreciated and if anyone wants a buddy I could use one too. I live in Indiana. Thanks. Carol
  8. Hi JustBK, I had my surgery on the 1st too and my first post OP appt too. I haven't had problems sleeping thankfully and not too gassy, but I am still pretty sore on the port side (right side in my case). At least they took the bandages off today. I was starting to get raw under the tape. I can't wait until I can have mashed/puréed foods in 8 days. How are you doing on the liquid diet and how did your appt go today? Carol
  9. Hi Nancy, Yes your post went through, so it's working ?
  10. Things are doing well. I'm still a little sore around the port area. I think I may have been doing too much bending, so Dr. Burry told me to take it easy for. A few more days. He said there was still too much swelling to tell if I messed up anything, but he said he should be able to tell when I go back for my first fill. By then he said the swelling would be gone. I see him again on Nov. 8th for my first fill. What I'm really looking forward to is mashed/puréed foods in 8 days. This liquid diet stuff is killing me, but the upside is I've lost 20#s in the last 3 weeks because of it.?
  11. Hi everyone! I'm Carol and I am post-surgery by 10 days. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone. I posted my story on my profile so I'm not going to rehash it here just wanted to say hello. Carol
