I was seriously considering purchasing a Ninja, but I used my mom's old Cooks Essentials smoothie blender last night, and it did work really well.
I think she just lost an appliance....

I was blessed to have met someone selling their less than 2 year old Vitamix for a majorly discounted price because they decided they wanted a different color or something. Before I got it I was thinking about doing the QVC flex pay on one for a couple of months but couldn't bring myself to spend that much money on a blender, but now having one for the past few years and experienced it, I wouldn't feel bad making that kind of investment if something happened to this one.

I watched tons of videos and reviews. I watched the one from America's test kitchen and the Vitamin and a Breville one came out on top. I bought the Breville because it much cheaper than the vitamin (although still pricey). It has been great!

Quick update ladies.. I'm now 3 days post op. I'm supposed to be getting discharged as soon as my doc makes his rounds around 10am. This hospital has made me feel incredible after surgery... I call it a "boutique" hospital. They only have 20 beds and the nurse to patient ratio is 3 to 1. They're making me walk every hour on the hour and I have to take my sips right on time. They're making me do cough productively and also the diaphragm training thing. I'm no longer on the morphine pain pump but instead they're giving me loratab for pain and a shot of heparin in my stomach for blood thinking. I'm still hooked up to an iv for potassium and every once in a while they give me some to prevent ulcers as well. Sorry for rambling... I'm just so excited right now and had to come tell you guys about my experience. I just had my first couple of toots as well lol but they weren't stinky. I'm dying for a shower but they said I can't until the doc makes rounds.

Try adding lemon or lime to your Water. If I don't have fresh I use the concentrated juice. I'm taking Vitafusions women's and Calcium with d3. I also take the B12 5000mcg once every other day.

I purchased a Vitamix from QVC last year. Hands down the best blending experience I've had. But it is pricey!!! Fortunately, QVC does easy pay which helped me be able to afford this Cadillac of Blenders!
Other than that I like the ninja pro.

I prefer the nutrabullet because I sometimes also add fruit and veg to my smoothies. Blends really well. My next purchase will be a vitamix. However if you just want something to mix smoothies. Oster makes a smoothie blender for about $20

I hate to get on here and vent but my mother in law drove me banonkers (bananna + bonkers) today, She invites me to walk with her down at the AG center, there are 2 trails there one goes 2miles around then there is a smaller trail that goes around some woods for about a mile around, now this is where I got my start, walking I told her about this trail, but since I have a treadmill I left off walking there when it turned off cold. Anyhow my mother in law is a ver fit person she walks on her own property behind her house up a logging trail 4 miles mostly uphill and a lot of it is steep, the AG center is mostly flat ground. Her and three other ladies have recently been walking down there every Sunday 4 miles, and asked me if I wanted to come. Immediatley she starts calling attention to how slow I am, 1st words out of her mouth were "Your going to have a hard time catching up." Then she turns and says she just can't walk at such a slow pace and is going to go on, I tell her to go ahead, she says "You see Angel we are going to walk ALL the way around" I understand that I told her just go on, but she's making wide circles like I have no idea what I'm in for. They go on ahead of me but I kept them in sight most of the walk. I walked three miles in all I went back to the car and found 10 dollars in the field on my way back, I was just really upset with how impatient she was being. To top it all off she gets back to the car and says pretty good for a beginner. grrrr.

Quest bars. Sold at GNC.They make a couple of them that taste like Cookies. And there is one that tastes like a cinnamon roll. And a lemon bar. They all have like 20 grams of Protein and a bunch of Fiber. Otherwise I would honestly say to make your own cookies and throw in unflavored Protein Powder into the mix to at least make your snack worthwhile.

@@MyssJones, how are you doing with your Protein. You can meet the Protein requirements by eating foods high in protein. Chobani plain greek yogurt 15gms, 2oz tuna 16gms, hormel turkey chilli 1/2 cup 12 gms... just to give you some examples. Protein is very important.

Im 26 days post op (3 & 1/2weeks). Since I began purée foods 2 weeks ago I've had no problems with my Protein and I do not drink Protein shakes. I mostly eat fish, eggs, yogurt, and poultry. I eat every 2-3 hours and I get around 60-80g of Protein a day which what my NUT wanted. So things are going much better.

Good to hear AJP and Benji. I had my surgery on the 15th and the staples came out a week later. I think it must have really hurt to have them in for so long! Ouchy! I am doing well too. Down 29 pounds and have to go back to work on Monday.
Sounds like everyone is on the way!

My date was Dec. 15th! Time is going by so fast. I get to start soft foods today. Down 28 lbs. so far!!! I know a lot of people don't check in here much anymore, it's a little hard to navigate. A Facebook group was formed called BariBuddies. It's a closed group and it's easier to access. There is also another fb group that is very active called December Sleevers. BariBuddies has a pic of a girl with arms outstretched and Dec. sleevers has cute little stuffed stomachs. Both have been great for me to have a place to chat with others about ANYTHING! So join in if you like, lots of info there.
    Have a great day!

Well it's been 3 months since my surgery. A lot has changed obviously. The sleeve is a great tool, it's worked wonders for me so far. It's allowed me to make clear decisions about my health and diet choices. I'm working out around 4-5 times a week (30min weight lifting and 20min of cardio). I feel like my mental state is returning to normal. Those first few weeks of caloric deficit really alter your mental state.
I've had some ups and downs. I lost my brother I was close to on December 5th. He had diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, etc. I was following his path in life. He was so proud of me for getting the surgery. He said I hope I can get it one day too. He died of a heart attack at the young age of 49. If I had not of had the surgery before they I would been in a completely different state now.
I made it through the holidays. It was different not gorging on food, but honestly it felt so much better this way. I have clarity now I didn't have before. I enjoyed family more without focusing on food.
Overall at work my mind is clearer and sharper. Just this week I returned to joking nature.
I'm down about 70lbs. I would like to lose another 60. I start p90x next week and am looking forward to that. I tried to focus more on building muscle and not just losing weight. I feel so much better.
See yall in 3 more months!

Like the first poster said, it varies person-to-person HUGELY.
I was in terrible pain for the first 36 hours, and each sip of Water brought me even more pain. I retched a lot, but didn't vomit. Walking was harder than I imagined it would be at first, but I did ok.
After the first day and a half, I was pretty golden. But there's no way to know how it will be for you. Everybody's different.
