Just saw the surgeon today. I lost 4 lbs since surgery January 20, 2015. I'm still a little sore on my left side (inside), which makes sleeping on my stomach impossible, but other than that I'm doing pretty well. 6 more days of Clear Liquids and Protein and then pureed foods!!!!
    Congratulations @Bringing-sexy-back.

I really appreciate the information. I am glad you mentioned the stalls. Although its only been 14 weeks for me, I had had at least 3 stalls. They are discouraging but I hang in there. The hardest part for me is watching others lose so much faster than me . I will keep trucking along and look to to finish. Did you ever experience any Hair loss in your journey?

@@Peekboo It's been quite a journey indeed and I am in a very happy place. I don't regret my decision to undergo this surgery at all. The biggest tip I have is that we have to accept this as a lifestyle change - develop healthy habits that transcend in healthier choices for life. I don't believe in eating foods labeled as low fat so I stuck to natural food items while privileging Proteins and veggies and limiting my carb intake. My fitness pal was instrumental in my success. I logged everything so it helped me understand what I was consuming. The other important tip is exercise. No matter what you do, you have to perform some level of exercise. In my case I do Zumba and did a lot of aquafit classes in the summer. I also did some light weights which helped a lot with my skin. I am blessed to not have any sagging skin despite the 100+ loss. By adopting a lifestyle change, I've been able to automatically condition my body to healthier living. I just recently went on a month long vacation where I was not able to log daily however came back 10lbs lighter. That was a huge accomplishment and testament to the months of educating myself on healthier living.
The other thing I would like to mention is to not worry about the stalls. I have had countless during this journey and kept my eyes focused on the prize!
I hope this helps! I can see that you are doing great! Feel free to contact me for any other questions :-)

For the B12 is the sublingual kind from Walgreens. I forget the brand but it's 5000mcg.

I think MFP and measuring food is a great idea to get a good picture of where you are. True story- the other day I thought I ate soooo good (sure felt like I didn't eat much that day at all) and went home and plugged it into MFP and my eyes nearly bulged out of my skull!!! It is a real eye opener, especially when you are new at this and learning. Things that I were taught when I was younger that are good for you, truly are, in moderation (this seems to be my problem). I realize now that I never really knew what an actually "NORMAL" portion was and that is where my scales come in handy. I am learning every day! I have not gone through my surgery yet and surely am not portraying myself as any expert, just relaying my personal experience. Hopefully when I get further down this road I won't have to "learn" so much, but my mind is wide open right now :-)

i know we focus a lot on Protein, but how many calories are you getting in a day. If you don't track how do you know what to fix regarding intake? You mentioned the cheesecake, which is like 400-800 calories depending on size & type. We have a tendency to overeat when we don't track.
The sleeve is just one leg of the stool. The other legs are exercise and intake. I think if you are more responsible and consistent with what you are eating you'll start seeing better results...

And just out of curiosity .......... someone please explain this to me !! I ate like a horse until I was about 25, normal weight. About late 20's the metabolism slowed down, I ate less food and healthier food ,still gained, but now supposedly this means I have "food issues "???? Nobody told me I had food issues when I was a skinny teen living on fast food, but now that Im an adult who gaines weight easily, and doesnt lose it easily, I have "food addiction " or "food issues "??? Just a little confused ! Opinions ?

I've only told a few people. Not because it's a "secret" or because of any "stigma", I simply don't feel a duty to educate others at their whim. I've actually discussed it with more strangers than I have people in my life. My immediate family knows as do my mom and dad. My inlaws do not. My besties know, my clients do not. A few of my team members know, but only because we are that close and I trust them to let me tell my story if and when I choose to.

I have much more interesting things to talk about in my life. My kids, my dog, my volunteer work, my career... I have been consumed by my weight and dieting most of my life. Now that I do not have a weight problem, I see no need to go on about it unless I choose to. I feel no anxiety or stress about my WLS, so I can't imagine I would feel any "relief" telling people and as no one has ever asked me out right, I see no reason to do so.

It's a very individual decision and one only you can make. It's like a bell, though. You can't unring it once you've told, so make your decision wisely.

I had my first visit with my surgeon today. I have decided to get sleeved! I have my medical clearance on the 27th. Looks like I will be having surgery in April. I also found out I have no deductible or copay for the surgery.
This is getting real and I'm getting excited. After years of taking care of everyone else, I am making 2015 all about me!

I was afraid of breakage from lying down so much, so I put it away.

You and I have the same stats, similar build, sounds like. I settled at 152 very comfortably. I could lose another 10 or so, but right now I am maintaining with no effort. I eat when hungry, stop when I'm not and I don't worry about what I'm eating. If I have a bad day, I make great choices the next day. I eat about 1500c on average, some days more, some days a lot less.

I am a grazer. I have a slight stricture and am rarely able to eat more than 1/2 cup at a sitting. My sleeve is very tight. I don't eat much fruit, but when I do, it's usually citrus or berries. Apples and bananas fill me up too much.

I eat a lot of beef Jerky, nuts, seeds, cheese. cheese. CHEESE. Bacon, avocado, cheese. Did I mention cheese? I don't worry about fat and I avoid carbs. I like cheese. A lot. eggs. I don't care for smoothies or yogurt and I rarely drink any calories. (WWs days, you know.)

If I got down to 140, I think I would have to work to stay there. I am happy not working at it. I am a size 8, some 10s if they are from junior's stores like American Eagle. I wear a medium as I still have big (long) boobs.

    I'm thrilled.
