  1. I was just wondering about that! I bought some yesterday but was worried about the gas. I usually roast it on broil in the oil then add olive oil and salt. So yummy? But I'm going to try the mashed potato version. Sounds great!
  2. That is awesome! I know you must e SO happy!
  3. Tell us....how are you celebrating? I'm truly impressed! I now that took a lot of work!
  4. It still taste like squash and it's a starch veggie. I personally don't care for the grainy texture.
  5. Have you had any fills yet? I am stalled right now banded 10/5 and have lost 21.6 lbs since preop. But I also know I am getting ready to start my cycle. So stay the course, watch you sodium intake. It is humanly impossible for you to stay at your weight eating only 500-600 cal a day. If that was the case people in Africa would all be obese! It will happen. Your body can only hold out for so long.
  6. Changing up the routine makes sense to trick our muscles. Stopping is crazy. Have you signed up for a local run? Try a 10k or 1/2 and get training. It is a proven fact that running drops weight faster than anything, especially belly fat. ( as long as we don't overcompensate by eating more) I would change my focus and have some fun. You'd be surprised at how fast you change too.
  7. Wow we all left you hanging a whole day! Sorry! Is your surgeon ready to submit to the insurance for approval? It'll go by quick. My advice is to relax and embrace this journey. Congrats!
  8. The most important thing is that they are zero cal, zero carb.
  9. Your dr will tell you. They all require different things. Just remember to not vary from your teams plan. They know you best and are responsible for your care. Do you have a band date yet?
  10. Oh no! Have you called your dr?
  11. You got this! See you post op! Keep us posted!
  12. http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Ninja-Mixer-Blender-Food-40-oz-Bowl-450-Watt-Smoothie-Maker-Master-Prep-Pro-/360468942171?pt=Small_Kitchen_Appliances_US&hash=item53ed9f8d5b
  13. A 5k? You should be alright by then. Just don't try to go to fast.
  14. I have magic bullet too and by far the ninja is better. The mb seems to over do it . Example: crushing ice turns it to snow and blocks the whole thing up. Do you know what I mean? I find that ninja gives a perfect blend/ purée hands down.
  15. I was banded 10/5. I am supposed to walk 20 min 3x a day. A bit much so I only do it twice. I was told that treadmill was last option because you put more force on you abdomin with treadmill vs street walking ( no pun intended!)
  16. The replies are really good and spot on. There is one other thing I'd like you to consider and that is your want for your moms approval. See, no one can make you feel anything so if she triggers a reaction out of you then you need to do the work to change the reaction. I have a very similar relationship with my mother. In our family dynamic I was the one that everyone dumped on. I was the one that was always asked to do all the favors even if others were in a position to do so and I wasn't. I feared disapproval and could not say no. One time when I was in a physically abusive relationship I called my mom in tears after getting beat up, and said that I didn't understand how anyone could be so cruel. Her reply, I kid you not was " Men like thin wives. You should lose some weight" . It wasn't until I went to counseling that I realized that I needed to change. I needed to be the one who taught people how to treat me. I did not, nor will I, tell my mom that I had surgery. It is my business and I know she could not handle knowing because of who she is. Believe me I know that it is a work in progress but setting the boundaries and changing the rules of interaction is so much healthier especially now since you are on a new journey JUST FOR YOU. you can have a talk with your mom, show her all the information in the world but the trash is on her side of the street and you can't reach far enough over to clean it up. She'll have to do that herself. In the meantime, set yourself up for success! Bug hug to you!
  17. When I got home from the hospital I said that to myself. It was like it hit me at that moment. Crazy huh?
