  1. I am checking in at 297.. down 1lb FINALLY.. had been at a stall for 3 weeks!! lol.. I was happy to see that today! and grats everyone else!
  2. Girl.. My 1st fill is the same day as yours.. so I too would like to know what to expect. I have no fill in my band at the moment.. so I have been able to eat anything with no problems, ( although I stick to the healthy stuff of course!! )
  3. I agree with her about getting your band checked asap! and also, no stuffing your face! you are defeating the purpose of the awesome tool you have been given. So start at the basics... do a liquid diet for a week with Protein shakes .. stick to a cup of food, protein first, veggies, etc. See how long it takes for you to feel hungry and note it.. that way when you go to your surgeons office you can give them your info and they will know what to do for you. EXERCISE! that is such a HUGE thing... start off slowly, walking.. whatever you feel you can do and build it up ever couple/few days.. excercising really does make you feel so much better about yourself.. sure it's the "getting up and doing it part that sucks" Oh hun I do know that well... lol.. but be strong.. say.. I HAVE to do this.. I will not fail and I will give it my all.. say that to yourself every day in the mirror... everyone slips.. don't beat yourself up for it, and get RIGHT back on it.. Wish you great success on a new beginning of your journey... by your 2nd anniversary.. you will look back and think wow.. look what I have accomplished!! if you need someone to talk to.. send me a message anytime! Good Luck!! **HUGS*!
  4. Not sure what an egd is.. But before I had my band done, they to thought I maybe had a hiatal hernia, so when I had my surgery, I sure enough did... they repaired it and now I have no more heart burn/ reflux YAY! and It didn't feel any different from the surgery I am guessing because it was all just recovery time and same steps. By the 3rd and 4th day I was feeling great! 2nd day is the worse..but that was the overall surgery for my band and hiatal hernia. Hope that helped!
  5. that is what I needed, I think it was called a letter of medical necessity... you can ask your surgeons office to fax a sample one to your Dr.'s office, that is what Mine did... you'll also need to do a Psych Evaluation before you get your surgery date if you haven't done so already. You answer soooo many questions... they just want to see where you are at mentally and I don't believe there is any right or wrong answer.
  6. Thanks for the pointer grams! I really need to see a Nutritionist to see how many calories I should have in a day.. I stay between 800-1000ish. Kinda winging it. lol
  7. Lee that is awesome!!! Just reading your post has me all excited for you! lol.. you now make me wonder if I actually have some fill in my band. My last appt with my surgeon I asked if he was going to put a fill in and he said no, he thinks its best if the body heals first.. So i was little bit disappointed, not much and then was thankful, rather heal up. So now, I mean I haven't lost any weight in 3 weeks.. well about a half a pound but i lost 28 lbs total, from the week before surgery and the week or so after... and i to keep thinking.. Wooo hooooo! this is all me! lol well mostly. Now I wonder!! I get my first fill on weds.. I am going to ask. lol.. Good Luck on your journey!! Best wishes always!
  8. well it doesn't sound like you ate anything bad.. soft stuff for sure, I am sure you are fine, just be careful.. and you can always call your dr office to see what they think.. some advance you to soft foods pretty early on if you are doing alright.
  9. lol same with my.. my first fill will be on weds!! I'm a bit scared of the feeling yet.. I want it to bad! hehe. Grats on your pre op weight loss!! it is going to be a wonderful and fustrating journey.. once the kinks are worked out which I am still doing and getting better all the time.. it becomes pretty easy! Happy thanksgiving!
  10. My condolences Roja.. and you sound like you are doing awesome!! I love hearing it! My favorite is my momma's stuffing! omg so good, but since ALL my family is in cali and It is just my boyfriend and I in florida, I usually make a dinner with lots of leftovers because I was use to the way my mom cooked thanksgiving. lol. this year.. I am making most of the stuff I usually make but waaay smaller portions so I don't have left overs! Oh!! And Armenian Potatoes! They are soooo yummmmy!
  11. Also.. today was my 2nd day Carb cycling. Low Carb Day as follows..: 910 39 50 87 Calories, carbs, fat, protein. In that order. the bulk of the carbs was 1 whole wheat toast that is 20 carbs >< lol was that to high for a low carb day?
  12. Depending how well this goes for me, carb cycling is something I might definitely stick to as a way of life. It seems easier to stick with. I still feel great for eating healthy yet I still get to have some things I always loved, with some adjustments of course. After reading, it made a lot of sense to me and it is something you can live with. I have a great feeling about this!
  13. Hey Pooh! What kind of things did you eat before and enjoyed while losing your weight? I'll send you a couple of links to some good sites for recipes, and if you have an ALDI near by, my god do they have some cheap healthy food there! I actually really enjoy eating, green Beans, chicken breast ( i get a rotisserie one from costco for 4.99 and it last a week ) I sautee the green beans, mushrooms, unions and chicken in some smart balance butter and eat a cup of that. I really enjoy it. As far as waiting till thanksgiving to start, start now, you will feel soooo much better about yourself, and when thanksgiving comes, you can eat, just try to eat in moderation/portions. You will always face holidays, birthdays, any occasions just remember you can have, portion is key! Good luck on your journey!! If you need help with anything, I am a newbie but I am getting in a better mind set and sticking to what I feel is right for me so send me a message anytime!!
  14. hehe thats great!! Since I don't have a fill at all in my band yet, I often worry about how small does small bites mean. lol.. I try to eat slow and take small bites but wow it's so hard to do! I guess I'll find out soon enough! get my fill on the nov 28th.. eep! i'm excited though!
  15. Congrats on your journey! yes, get rest and then walk walk.. around the house or whatever.. it will help with the gas. Wishing you a speedy recovery!!
  16. Hiyas! I was banded on Oct 22nd and I also had a Hiatal hernia repair ! At least it got rid of the heart burn I had been havinig for a couple years that I had no clue what the hell was going on. So how is everyone doing?
  17. That was a very interesting video, and it makes sense. Some dr. who are probably more strict with the water during meals is probably because they were so use to setting that guideline. New information isn't always taken well by some or are skeptic. I'll ask mine about some of this. My bf did ask when can I drink alcohol again, I wasn't sure actually so I said next month. lol. ( occasionally )
  18. I bought a case at costco... when I first tried it out I didn't like it, but as time went on and I drank it more I found it's not so bad actually, it grew on me.. ( I am a last min person so I need some ready mades to grab and jet out the door ).

  21. Hiyas and welcome! I'm Kayna , 35 live in florida.. From cali.. and just got my band last month on the 22nd. down 28lbs for a bit now.. this site is awesome as you will come to see!
  22. Just to clarify Cherly.. I know I have been sending people to this thread who are having trouble losing weight, and the reason for that is because it is another alternative to help and try. In no way are we saying it will work for everyone.. hell, I don't even know if it will work for me but today is my first day and there is nothing unhealthy about this so long as you are doing it in a healthy way. Everything I eat is still on the list of things I can eat, and it's incredible how my cravings for bad things have diminished so much. I don't have to want and crave them because I can make them in a healthier way.. Diet ... no fab just another way of living... Some people get tunnel vision believing one way is always the right way, there are many things you can do and be healthy and successful at. Just have to have an open mind, and if it doesn't work for you that's one thing to scratch off the list and on to the next. The most successful people will find what works the best for them, something they can live with.. as long as it is healthy... to each it's own. that is my 2cent.
  23. thats good to hear.. I know most instructions are similar yet every dr is different.. first day was clear liquids after the surgery and the next 13 days was full liquids.. i got to mushies.. was on that for about a day, and then went to soft foods.. my dr said that was fine.. tell them how you are feeling and they will let you know what is ok to do.. ie: skip a phase or not.. glad to hear things are better and welcome to the forums! this site is AWESOME!!
