  1. Nadine' date=' I couldn't wait to see how you handled your surgery. I wanted to skip ahead and see but all the posts were interesting. I am glad you did well. I had a band with plication on 10/9/12. I didn't think they would release me from the hospital because I couldn't drink what they suggested I should. I also had a hiatal huernia repair. Once I was home it was great! I was more comfortable and was able to drink most of what they suggested and in the first 5 days lost 8 lbs. My dr puts us on stages of diets and I am getting ready for stage 3 on tuesday. I have an appt with him on Thursday and I cannot "weight" to see the numbers! I was talking to my son this morning and we both realized my ankles are thinner! I will enjoy following your journey. Best of luck to you![/quote']

Thank you!!! Yes it was way better than I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong I'm sore as heck. But it's all worth it in the end. Glad to see your doing good. Keep us updated.

  2. Wow just 5 days.....Awww that was so sweet of him to do that. I believe that would be the same thought in my head...that something would go wrong.Thank you sooo much.

It will be fine. Keep me posted on how everything is going for you. I'm from Pittsburgh. Where are you from?

  3. How does it feel after surgery&did you have to do the 2 wks. of liquids and if so how&what helped you to get through it.Because I know me If food wasn't a obstacle then we all wouldn't need this surgery....But I know I need&want it sooo bad.

After surgery I was really sore. And I can tell I had gas stuck just like everyone said. I only had to do 5 days of pre-op. It was really hard for me the first 3days. Then after that I wasn't hungry. And my boyfriend did it with me even though he wasn't having any kind of surgery. So that helped ...plus I got scared that if I didn't do it right something might go wrong. Hope it will be easy for you. But we are all here for you!!!

  4. Hi I'm new to this site and I am just really starting my journey to my lapband. On October 22' date='2012 This will be my second nutrition visit,I was sentence to 6 months worth. Lord Bless and say the same I will have my surgery in April 2013.I wanted to hear other peoples experiences through their journey.[/quote']

Welcome!!! I'm only 8days post-op was banded Oct 11th. The 6 months sounds long. But it is over before you know it. Good luck and if you need help you came to the right place.

  5. Good luck.... I'm just getting started waiting for upmc to get back to me.... I am from the burgh.

Thank you...and good luck in your journey. It will be worth it in the end. Add me as a friend and keep me posted. Or any question you may have.

  6. Hi Everyone!

Really glad I found this! I just got banded on the 13th of October and I'm still in my liquid diet phase. Not restricted to clear liquids' date=' just creamed Soups, smoothies and Protein shakes. I"m STARVING but feeling really lucky I don't have pain and am not even on Tylenol and have been back at work since 2 days after surgery. I can't wait to move to mushy food - i"m sure i'll be sick of that diet by the end too, but seriously...my stomach needs something it can grab on to!

Anyone else having itchy incision sites?[/quote']

Mines itch to....But I thought maybe it was the glue that they close me with. My 88yr old grandma said that means they are healing. Might be something to that. Lol

  7. One more suggestion: When I was on clear diet I could drink the Protein drink' date=' Isopure. It comes in a few flavors, all of which I didn't like very much but they are extremely high in Protein with no carbs. You mentioned not being able to have Protein drinks yet, but maybe you're dr. means portein shakes. I was actually given this drink in the hospital after surgery and before my release. Again, I didn't love it, but I was fine with it knowing I was getting in much needed protein. Good luck with your recovery - in no time, you're going to love the improved you! :)[/quote']

Never thought of that. I have unflavored clear mix. I will try it for Breakfast. Thanks so much.

  8. Go out and buy yourself Gatorade G2 - I lived on water' date=' gatorade, and chicken broth. You need to stay hydrated, the gatorade will actually help with replenishing any electrolites you lose during this process, including potassium. Drink all day long I did both every day for a while until my body was completely healed.

Also, you may want to buy 'unflavored' Protein powder and add that to your chicken broth, it will help tremendously with getting some nutrients in your body until you are able to 'eat'.

    Best of luck![/quote']

    Thanks for hints!!!

  9. Hi everyone' date=' I'm starting this because we are mid way through the month so I'm guessing about half of us have had the procedure done. The October Bandsters thread has been really great with all the positive comments, suggestions and support. It would be great to keep that community going.

I'm two days post surgery. My pain meds are working fine. The surgery was easier than I expected and I hope the recovery keeps going as well.

    How is everyone?[/quote']

Glad to hear your doing good. I was banded Oct 11th, for the most part I'm fine. I'm still on clears Friday. Can't wait to move to full...I need Protein. Lol. I agree lets keep this room going. And keep each other posted on our new life's.

  10. 5 days post op you should be able to get out and about. I was already off meds by then so I visited my gramma' date=' walked laps of Walmart, went out walking on the trails, met a girlfriend for tea...........there is no reason unless you are in severe pain that you have to be stuck and bored at home. Get out of the house.[/quote']

Your right!!! In going to just bundle up and take a walk. Thanks again!!!

  11. don't feel alone' date=' we are all here for you. No, I'm not from PA, KY actually. I had my mom taking care of me while I was recuperating and of course my Dachshund keeping me company. I do hope you have family support or friends you can count on to help you. I did lots of walking around the house to get rid of gas pains and of course to keep from getting blood clots but on the otherhand I rested too. I'm 4 mos post op and it's the best thing I've ever done for myself, wish I had done it yrs ago. Best of luck to you.[/quote']

Have alot of family support. My gram and my boyfriend are taking care of me. Glad to hear you are doing good. And that it gets better. I'm just not use to sitting still. I'm getting cabin fever. But having you guys is great too. LBT is the best!!! And thanks again.

  12. You definitely don't want to deal with dehydration (often times that will send you back to the hospital)' date=' but just continue to drink what you can. Lots of little sips. Maybe set your timer for every 15-30 minutes...sip. Doesn't have to be just broth does it? Protein drinks, Crystal Light...? Cheer up pretty lady. This gets much easier and... you're never alone on LBT! I found a lot of folks on this site to be amazingly supportive and caring. ((little hug bc you're still sore. Ha)) ;)[/quote']

No Protein until one week follow up. I will try crystal light tomorrow. Thanks for the timer idea. Sometimes you just have to hear the stuff you already know from someone else. Lol
