At The Beginning...
I think we all feel this way. There is a ton of info to learn. I has my surgery 9/11/12 and I still keep referring to my dietary packet to remind myself what I can, and cannot eat. That is why this site comes in handy. There are a bunch of people here who've had the surgery and been super successful, and they kindly share their knowledge they've learned along the way. What helped me not feel so overwhelmed was attending support groups prior to surgery. Also, I had to do a 6 month preop diet so I implemented better eating and exercising habits already before I even had the surgery. This really helped so I wasn't blasted with so many changes at once when it came time for surgery. I cut out caffeine, pop, straws, started exercising 3-6 times a week, and lost 31 lbs preop by eating better. Anyway, what I'm saying is I encourage you to start with the changes now to make it easier in the long run. You guys will be fine.

Anyone Have A Stomach Virus Or Flu With Band?
When the doc told me that, he was really pushing for me to get the sleeve or bypass and was trying to say how inconvenient a Lapband was.... Like how if I got sick I'd have to come in, then for fills, if I got pregnant, blah blah.....so I wondered if he was being dramatic.

Diet Help!!!
I would encourage you to use an app to track your diet, like myfitnesspal. I kno sometimes I'm really surprised by how much more I'm consuming than I originally thought. That's where I'd start first, is to see if my diet needed tweaking and then go from there. Are u using any toppings like butter or mayo?

Anyone Have A Stomach Virus Or Flu With Band?
I'm curious about this too. My doc said if I ever have an illness with vomiting I'd have to have the fluid removed from my band.

Its Go Time!

- Did Anyone Feel Good Within A Few Days? Things Went Smoothly?
My first day I was nauseaous as hell. And yeah I was sore & had gas pains but honestly that was cake next to my nausea. It cleared up by day 2, them the gas pains started but it didn't keep me down. I actually did go shopping as soon as I was released from the hospital, took a walk and visited my Grammie. I definitely was sore but made myself get up. The thing that really annoyed me was the fact I had such a hard time bending over for about a week. My mom had to help me get my lower half dressed and socks/shoes. I just could not manage it. It would take me like 45 minutes just to shower because I was bound and determined to clean all my goods. A lot of screams of pain and frustration came from that bathroom lol- New To The Site
Hi and welcome. Well there is a lot of info around here, and since youre just starting you should have plenty of time to learn a few things. I don't know how people can afford it out of pocket...yikes!!! Thank god for my insurance. Since you're self pay, how long do they make you wait before you get the surgery?- Progressing Post Op Diet Early
DinaMarie, I have the PB2 at home as well. It's not Nutella but I guess it'll do in a pinch You know what I notices today while walking by the Nutella? They have the nerve to say "made with skim milk!" on the front of it. Trying to trick us and shite.- Foods.....help
Cottage cheese and eggs really stave off the hunger for me- Does Pre-Op Diet Equal Gas?
What's ur preop diet like? Everyone here seems to have a different one. Mine was 3-4 Protein shakes a day, and yeah the milk made me a little sick. If that's what ur doing u might want to try lactaid or gas- ex- Itchy Itchy Itchy Itchy!
I did this too. Couldn't help it. Didn't use any creams, just washed with soap during shower and patted dry- Progressing Post Op Diet Early
My side was sore to where I couldn't bend with out pain for about 10 days. It was manageable though, not severe. My neck hurt me too for 4 days, and lost my voice for about 5 days. And the world rejoiced lol- What Is A Typical Day For You?
I'm about 3 weeks post op and right now this is how I eat past 2 days (had a slip up with meatballs & Nutella): Breakfast- Bariatric fusion Protein shake Lunch- 1 serving better'n eggs with 1/4 cup fat free cheddar cheese on top or cream of wheat packet with unflavored Protein powder in it Dinner- little jar of stage 2 baby food & later a cottage cheese Snack- fat free pudding, Greek yogurt, couple tablespoon PB2, or cottage cheese Just started back at the gym- go about an hour and do elliptical and treadmill, also walk about 45 minutes 5 times a week- Progressing Post Op Diet Early

lolol! Will you stop?! Don't do it! I'm telling you.... Before I tried it I was always like " why the hell are people so obsessed with Nutella?"..... And then I tried it..... Have you tried those ferroro rocher candys? That's who makes it and that's exactly what it tastes like- Progressing Post Op Diet Early
I understand what u guys are saying and agree whole heartedly we have no business going against doctors orders , and we could possibly hurt ourself. I wanna bang my own head into my keyboard for being such a dumbarse! BUT, I also went against doctors orders in the first place and never followed the diet he gave me for my diabetes and I'm guessing so did everyone else here- that is how we got fat. Soooo, isn't it a bit hypocritical to judge someone after the surgery for not following their docs diet when not a single one of us here ever followed our doctors diets to begin with???? I'm playing devils advocate because I actually agree with you guys, but I don't feel someone should be made to feel dumb because some setbacks postop. I for one, could use some support instead of judgement right now- Progressing Post Op Diet Early
Carolina girl- for the love of god stay away from the Nutella!!!!! It's so delicious you'll get hooked and sooo high in fat!- Progressing Post Op Diet Early
- First Post Op Appointment Since Being Banded 9/11
Wow that's good news. I'm doin ok I guess? The last couple days have been hard.... I wanna eat everything in sight! I've had meatballs & Nutella ugh.... What am I doing??? Have started the gym again & hoping to get back on track.- Am I A Liar?
I do think its a little white lie, but I don't think you're a bad person for it. Personally, I've told everyone for fear that they would have found out on their own anyway and then think I'm a liar. Some have been very judgemental but I really couldn't care less..... At least that's what I tell myself.- Menstral Cramps & Banding
No more ibuprofen for me per my doctor. No NSAIDs at all :/ I take Tylenol, ultram, or Vicodin for my cramps depending how bad they are. Doesn't work totally but not much I can do about it. - Did Anyone Feel Good Within A Few Days? Things Went Smoothly?
