Gadgetlady, The Watcher, and all in between...
Here is something a bit off topic or maybe closer to topic than the recent postings... To be perfectly frank, I care more about myself and my weight loss journey than who becomes the next President of the USA. We're all here because we're all on the same journey. We may be at different mile markers on that highway, but we're all here for the same reason so I'm going to share the following post with you and hope to hear back from the rest of you on your progress to date: Hello, my name is Donna and I'm a slow loser... I've been banded for 3 1/2 months and have only managed to lose 20 lbs. 13 of those 20 lbs were in the first 2 weeks post op. That means I'm averaging 1/2 a lb a week (discounting the first 2 weeks). My weight loss process has been playing with the same 2-3 lbs for a couple of weeks before dropping them for good and then 2-3 lb cycle again. I was exercising until my knee flared up with an injury while doing the couch to 5 k challenge. The doctor told me to rest it for a week or 2 until the pain went away and then resume exercising. Well, that was 2 months ago and as predicted by the doctor, the pain did leave in 2 weeks of resting but I haven't resumed exercising. I'm committing to restart exercising on November 7.

How much have you lost July Butterfllies??
I posted this on "Slow Losers Unite!" and in "July Butterflies Master Thread" and wanted to share it here as well for those who may also be "slow losers": Hello, my name is Donna and I'm a slow loser... Do you think there is discrimination against obese people?
I was not always fat. I grew up "normal" sized and stayed "normal" sized until I had my first child at 25. I got a bit chubby and couldn't take it off, then after I had my second child at 33 I got a LOT more chubby and switched to a very stressful job which added more pounds on until I eventually got FAT and reached my highest point of 213 which had me RUNNING to the lap band surgeon. I will admit that while I have sympathy for fat people (being one myself now) I have been prejudiced against fat people and still am to a certain degree. If I see someone who is really obese, it shocks and turns me off. Then I see a mirror and wonder who the hell is that fat chick. It's a sad, sad thing. . .

Kareyquilts: Arms, Butt & Thighs, Oh My!
Karey, thanks for your post. That was very inspirational as are you! Freedom from the prison bars of our fat can be a very emotional experience. Even with only 20 lbs down I'm beginning to get glimpses of what life might be like again.

I'll be so glad when Halloween is over! I have 3 huge bags of assorted chocolate that I keep dipping into. I need to get this stuff out of the house!!!! I'm due for TOM to visit in a couple of days so that's not helping at all either.

Are We ready for a Black President?
Of course. Clusk, review the threads. I'm not the one throwing accusations around. I respect and admire John McCain and I voted for him for those reasons. I've been a fan of McCain for well over 10 years.
-
Are We ready for a Black President?
McCain was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1982, he served two terms, and was then elected to the U.S. Senate in 1986, winning re-election easily in 1992, 1998, and 2004. While generally adhering to conservative principles, McCain at times has had a media reputation as a "maverick" for having disagreed with his party. After being investigated and largely exonerated in a political influence scandal of the 1980s as a member of the "Keating Five," he made campaign finance reform one of his signature concerns, which eventually led to the passage of the McCain-Feingold Act in 2002. He is also known for his work towards restoring diplomatic relations with Vietnam in the 1990s, and for his belief that the war in Iraq should be fought to a successful conclusion. McCain has chaired the Senate Commerce Committee, has opposed spending that he considered to be pork barrel, and played a key role in alleviating a crisis over judicial nominations. When I said "green" I meant as a politician, the age is relative.

I'm scared!
I was terrified and convinced I would die from the anesthesia. Since I'm posting this now, obviously I didn't perish. In all seriousness, it was over with before i realized it. You will be fine.

WATER...How many mins before eating do you have to stop drinking water?
My doctor said drink right up to minute before eating but to wait 30 minutes after eating.
-
I hate it when people post just to post.....
All those political threads have the same effect on me and I had sworn off of them but then I found myself back in there and before I knew it, my fingers were typing and I was posting.... It's kind of like eczema, you think the rash has finally cleared up, then WHAM! it's back again! Politics is a disease that gets in your system and corrupts otherwise rational beings.

insurance denial....AFTER the band!!
??? You are no longer eligible for health insurance because you have had lap band surgery?
-
Are We ready for a Black President?
BJean, that's where experience comes in. The Keating Five debacle happened early in McCain's political career when he was "green". McCain learned early on to avoid falling into the trap of associating with unsavory characters, but at least he had enough character to admit he made a mistake. That particular experience really helped shape McCain's political career from that point forward. No doubt in 10 or 15 years, Obama will be much better qualified to be the most powerful man in the most powerful nation in the world.
-
What would happen if Barack Obama were Assasinated?
BJean, are you implying the Republican party planted and orchestrated Joe the Plumber? If they were going to do something like that, don't you think they would have found a better candidate?
-
WHY are people voting for McCain?
Here's a fun and exaggerated version of why I voted for McCain (gotta love early voting - will never wait in line on election day again) *'Twas the night before elections* *And all through the town* *Tempers were flaring* *Emotions all up and down!* ** *I, in my bathrobe* *With a cat in my lap* *Had cut off the TV* *Tired of political crap.* ** *When all of a sudden* *There arose such a noise* *I peered out of my window* *Saw Obama and his boys* ** *They had come for my wallet* *They wanted my pay* *To give to the others* *Who had not worked a day!* ** *He snatched up my money* *And quick as a wink* *Jumped back on his bandwagon* *As I gagged from the stink* ** *He then rallied his henchmen* *Who were pulling his cart* *I could tell they were out* *To tear my country apart!* ** *' On Fannie, on Freddie, * *On Biden and Ayers!* *On Acorn, On Pelosi'* *He screamed at the pairs!* ** *They took off for his cause* *And as he flew out of sight* *I heard him laugh at the nation* *Who wouldn't stand up and fight!* ** *So I leave you to think* *On this one final note-* *IF YOU DONT WANT SOCIALISM* *GET OUT AND VOTE!!!!*
