I am a fellow Soul Cyster (PCOS that is.)I am 9 months out and just hit 40 lb mark. I feel the same as you girl. As though I am losing the same 5 lbs. I feel restriction. I can go hours without hunger and I am NOT a snacker! As a matter of fact today I had a one egg omelet with low fat cheese and got stuck for 30 mins eventually threw up. I measure my meals.. Stay away from sugar, sodas, carbs etc. 40lbs sounds great mind you my 1st 20lbs came off in the first 2 months after surgery. I have had 4 fills and I am going for my next fill next week. I know myself and I know how severely I have improved my eating habits. I just feel like maybe I could have done this without the band. I was hoping to lose 80 lbs and wish I would have had the sleeve.
I just read soo many good reviews about PCOS being reversed with this surgery. So far I am still on 1000 mg of metformin daily.

No doubt I was eating sliders and Soups (probably with high sodium) but that was due to the fact I couldn't keep anything down with the band.. Even when the band was Completely empty. Now that the band has been removed I am still eating like I had the band small portions, no drinking while eating, and trying to focus on just quality Protein. I don't want to gain it all back.

Your doctor cannot speak for every sleeved person so he can suck it. I am 15 mos out and have not gained but a few lbs over Xmas and lost it. I tbink its highly Unethical for a Dr to tell a person that they will gain the weight back. Do you have to watch yourself? Yes but I still have excellent restriction.

I have been on metformin for PCOS for 5 yrs it does keep my cycles current as without it I would have no menstrual cycle at all. You must take it with food or crackers it does in fact also lead to lactic acidosis! Very very painful craping I can describe the feeling like gut wrenching contractions. Don't miss a dose. Other symptoms can be diarrhea and lead to dehydration so no sugary drinks. PCOS causes erratic insulin but as we struggle with PCOS are not Diabetic so the benefit of Metformin is to stabilize the insulin.

Rebecca: cost was $12,500. Still not cheap by any means but I could not have taken the time to travel to Mexico (due to my job and not wanting to leave my 18-month-old for that long). For me, this was the best option. I don't have any knowledge of the surgeons in Mexico--just wanted to let folks know that I personally am very glad Dr. Bruce set this program up for those of us who did not get approved by insurance. It's all about doing what is right for you and your family. The program is just getting started and I just wanted to share in case others were weighing the options.

I am two weeks out and am losing very slowly, the scale hasn't moved in almost a week and I am wondering if my PCOS has something to do wi this. This surgery is my last hope, I did this to help my PCOS symptoms. I hope I am not having false expectations.

Go to the doctor, infection is a possibility. You can always make payments on doctor bills but your husband won't be able to get another you.

I too was discouraged from having the sleeve and was told I wouldn't lose correctly and if I did I would gain it back. I had the lap band 1 yr ago and I only lost about 20 lbs total! that was the 1st 2 months out of surgery!! I have fill after fill then band loosened. I always felt Restriction! I measured Meals and never accomplished being able to eat Protein. I vomited and slimmed everyday. Not to mention belched all the time with Water. Regurgitation Daily! I ended up with 8 scars and no real weight Loss! Now I have had all Fluid removed since I still can't keep food down. (unless its broth) but I just lose the same 5 lbs. Per My surgeons Recommendation I am having Band removed and deemed Incompatible. I want the Sleeve but don't want to pay for it… I told Doctor I wish I could have lost the weight and seen if it came back.. let me be the Judge of that! but I never lost substantial enough weight to even want to get SPOILED! I am driven and I still want to lose it successfully…

I just UNFILLED! Also banded Dec 2012. Noticed after 4th fill I would regurgitate Water as well as vomit most Protein. I am horrified to start gaining!! But I am only down a total of 44 lbs. and the 1st 20 came off in the 2 months following surgery.
I hope this will show a really difference since I haven't seen any weight loss in 3 months just the same 3-5 yoyo pounds. I realize this is a tool and cant believe some of the (" I was banded 3 months ago and Im down 60+ lbs!") Stories on here. The same stories that surely influenced me to chose this surgery. Now with this unfill I am being scheduled for an endoscopy and we are talking possible slip.

Tomorrow I am having all Fluid removed from band. I will be 10 months out of surgery and still at the same weight loss as I was 4 months in.
Granted these save 5 lbs lose. I only had a total of 4 fills.
Hopefully this will determine if I am too tight or this just isn't working for me. I am still considering the sleeve since even drinking Water which I love and crave causes me to belch like a man! I am on 6 meds that can cause dry mouth dehydration and appetite loss. I just wanted to turn 30 healthier and now I am 1 month away from 31 and weigh almost the same!

I have considered that perhaps I am too tight.. I don't eat bread or carbs as an alternative. meat, chicken all Proteins are hard to swallow down.. But I always felt this way. I have only had 4 fills I have 7 cc.
I am terrified if he unfills I will gain it all back!

I am sooo ready for the sleeve!!! I have ONLY lost 44 lbs and thats due to the fact that I dropped the 1st 20 right after surgery. I am 9 months out and I yoyo around 5 lbs. I have been told by my surgeon NOT to work out cuz it increases my hunger. Then scolded and accused of eating sugars and carbs. I feel like such a failure! I can hardly get food down some days and I get stuck! BELCH like a MAN! SHOULDER PAIN & the monthly costly fills are just something I no longer want to deal with! I am hoping my BCBS will help me convert since I cant seem to lose. I know I have completely reduced my calorie intake. I don't do carbonated drinks! Even drinking Water causes an hour of belching! My primary doctor said, "IF I WANTED TO SEE MORE WEIGHT LOSS I SHOULD HAVE HAD THE SLEEVE!' & 45 for a women who started at 224 and is 5'1 is common. I cant even eat an egg in the morning without getting stuck! is this how its gonna be for life and still NO WEIGHT LOSS?

Thanks Doll! I really want to change surgeons his bedside manner is awful! I told him I feel intimidated every time I go in and I came to him spending $1000's on assistance. You would think he would try to be more helpful and less insulting

Are you sure you're not too tight? I've read more than once on this forum that when you're too tight you might not lose weight. Maybe do a search for threads on being tight. See if it applies to you.
    Best of luck!

It's been over a year (5/2012) and I'm "only" 40lbs down... And still have a way to go! I would like to lose a minimum of 70lbs more however I'm not seeing that scale move! I get an adjustment like clockwork every 4wks and the scale will go down about 3-5lbs and either stay steady or regain about that much by the time the nxt adj comes around. I feel restricted and my diet primarily consists of salads, Soups, yogurt, Protein Shakes, chili, fresh fish and veggies...every once in awhile I will have some wine or ice cream (again...periodically).. I exercise 3-4x a week for 30-45 min intense tabata, kickboxing, strength training type regimens buuuut collectively it's NOT WORKING.. I'm really scared and desperate bc I keep thinking I didn't go through this journey of Lapband to only succeed 1/4 of the way! My MD and staff just keep saying workout harder, eat differently and I don't know how to do anymore of both.. My body is clearly stubborn (always has been in weightless w PCOS) and it seems to have adjusted to the band and this is it!! Pleeeease if someone can share if they've had a similar issue and eventually had a breakthrough I would appreciate some ideas and stories of hope!!

    Hi!!!
I also have PCOS and one thing that you should especially monitor is your sugar intake !! The PCOS messes with our hormone levels and makes our insulin levels spike. Definitely try to keep the daily sugar intake to under 25 g a day.
Some foods that I always associated with diets and being good were recently pointed out to me by my surgeon as being bad because of very high sugar content. Namely BANANAS AND YOGURT and frequent fruit. Even Greek yogurt (besides plain) has between 12-24 of sugar In a serving!! Just wanted to let you know as I was regularly eating both of these things! When I cut them back I immediately lost 13 lbs on 2 weeks, which is very rare for me as I am almost 4 years post op!!

Yes I agree he is wrong. But when I know I am watching every bite and personally know I have overcome a lot of my food issues. I am very sad about being 8 months out and maintaining same weight for 6 months or losing what seemed to be the same 5 lbs. my friend had the sleeve and she just hit 135 she was 229lbs when I had surgery. She had it a month after me.
I wont give up but hope my doc was serious about this being my last fill. I didn't pay thousands to lose 30 lbs.
