Hi, my partner was not at all supportive - she viewed it as an easy option to lose weight - after each hospital visit I explained how it was a tool and only would work with other lifestyle changes-this made her think I was slimming to find someone new! Our love life was on the dull side due to my size and lack of fitness - now I am 12kg lighter and go to the gym every other day she has come around to supporting me - I even took her to bed one afternoon and I gotta say my fitness certainly impressed her - and I felt great as that's the first time in months I felt good about myself enough to want to be intimate.
Hope this is not to much info guys and girls.
It's been one hell of a year - in jan I was diagnosed with diabetes and had bmi of 38 so that shocked me into this journey - joined gym in may, banded 9/18 and now lost over12kg increased my fitness level and am living a life I thought had passed me by - but being 47 I want to live longer and have a full quality of life and keep the diabetes under control ( my sugar levels are now normal !!!)
I am on fitness pal stevepsmith2011 if anyone fancies adding me that would be great.

Thanks Kyrrin, yes it was laparoscopic and I have been for a walk round the ward - bit dizzy but no bad pain - feeling better every hour, had clear Soup and sugar free jelly for dinner - took my time eating it and savouring the jelly taste.
I am so happy I made this decision to get my health back on track -

Yes !! Been banded today - about 5 hours ago - woke up with bit of pain but morphine sorted that out. Had a cuppa tea and two glasses of Water so far- I feel great and so relieved - another milestone reached,

Had my lap band 5hrs ago - woke up in bit of pain - morphine sorted that out. Also sore and croacky voice.
Had good cough and no pain thank god, drunk a cuppa tea and two glasses of Water, being kept in overnight as still sleepy.
So relieved it went well I am getting better by the hour-- I am a bandster now - and a happy one!

Greetings from Chicago! The diet has been he hardest part so far...and I'm about to start on solid food so I can't wait. Banded 8/24 and after the gas finally left, I started to feel great. Good luck!

Hi guys and gals, half way through pre op and lost nearly a stone!! I have been going gym everyday so that's helped as has using the sauna. This time next week I will be banded - keep strong everyone -

I was very nerous also. It will be ok. The worst is eating liquids and soft items for a week or two. :0) I had mine on August 20, 2012 and so far I am down 21 lbs. I have a long ways to go but glad to see things coming off. Good luck and keep me posted.

Hi Steve, it is really going well. The only thing I am finding difficult is drinking enough Water. I do use crystal light to make it easier. I am glad I am off the liquid stage. It isn't as difficult as I thought it would be. I hope it continues as well as it has been going so far. I hope you do well on your low carb diet. That honestly was difficult for me. I didn't realize how many carbs we had through out the day and what all is considered a carb. Goodness, that was hard. Good luck with your preop stage. You will get through this stage and then get your band. Congratulations!

PS get a little pillow for your stomach after the surgery it honestly helps and Chapstick.

Good luck from las Vegas! I was Andes on aug 23rd and I am still on full liquid diet! Feeling great! But I am looking forward to cottage cheese this Friday!!! Goood luck. ))
