  1. Great to hear that they will cover this even though you don't have hiatal hernia. Keep yourself busy and drink plenty of Water. Anytime you crave food, chew gum!
  2. That's great!!! What changed with your ins plan? What's your diet?
  3. Oh wow! Mine did the same thing. They even went to tell me that its pending and they will know in 2 weeks. I called my insurance and they never got anything. I sort of raised hell and she did it the same day.
  4. Do the payment plan. Look at this way...once you get a lap band your food expense will be low and that contribute to the monthly payments.
  5. Sorry to hear that. What caused the slip?
  6. So sorry to hear that! Look into financing it.
  7. Her insurance would have covered the hernia surgery, and she would have had to pay just for the ban only and not the surgery cost. Basically, her insurance doesn't cover the lap band, but if she had hiatial hernia it would cover the surgery and dr would have added the lap band. So instead of paying 10k for the lap ban surgery she would have paid $5500 just for the band.
  8. I live in Palm Bay i.e. the space coast. I have always been heavy since my teenage years. Always lost and gained the weight back and some more. I would live to make buddies that can be part of my new journey. I was at my highest 206 when I decided to do the lap band. I am 5ft so that put me at 40 BMI. So far I have lost 12 pounds...4 ponds since the pre op diet. Today is the 6th day of it and get banded on the 27th.
  9. I can definitely use a mentor especially someone who has been through this journey before!

  13. I am on 6th day, and I gave in to my craving once and felt horrible afterwards. That craving keeps coming back and it's hard to fight back. So I decided to take "Before" pictures to have something to compare with the "After" pics. When the cravings hit I pull that picture up as a reminder what I have done to myself bc of these cravings, and reminds me how I don't want to look. It worked and helps me be stronger in fighting these urges!! Share your tips and things that works for you to fight the urges!

  15. I am on my 5th day and I have been doing well with my liquid diet, but I gave in the temptation and ate a chicken gyro. Not only do I feel guilty now but also makes me nervous if it will hinder with my procedure. This also made me realize how horrible of relationship I have with food. My surgery date is on 9/27
  16. Exactly what everyone said. They also basically want to make sure that you are not suicidal.
