    Welcome!

Hang in there SJC it will get better. I had alot of soreness my first 2 weeks. I was banded on the 10th and just started to be able to sleep on my side. I still get alot of gas and burping hurts. Just stay strong and you will get through it. If this was easy everyone would be doing it.
  2. One week post-op. Feeling pretty good. Getting used to the nasty taste of the Isopure. Hungry at times but easlily fixable with a few sips of my Isopure or chicken broth. Only real thing that is getting to me is lack of sleep. I can't sleep on my right side for too long and sleeping on my back is next o impossible. I'd give anything to be able to sleep on my left side. I guess if that is the only thing I have to complain about I am doing very well!

I'm much better today. some of the gas started to pass. I just feel that if I could get rid of this Gas I would be fine. been sipping on my water and Isopure. My mom brought me down some broth from Chicken soup and that tastes like heaven lol. Just need to get rid of the rest of this gas. I went for a walk yesteray and that helped so I plan on going for another walk later.

Got my band yesterday morning. Was home in my bed at 4pm.. However I had a rough night with pain and nausea. The pain meds are making me sick to my stomach so I opted not to take them at all and deal with the pain. The gas is annoying and I think that is what is causing most of my pain.

Well I think I have every thing I need for after surgery. I have my Isopure, chicken and beef broth, bottled water, heating pad, jello, sugar free ice pops, and plenty of books to read. If anyone knows of anything i am forgetting please let me know.

Ok I get why they do it now. Maybe they don't feel I need to have it done because my iver isn't in the way. All of my organs have shifted a little due to having a kidney removed. Thanks for explaining why they do the pre-op diet. I was thinking it was to get you used to being on liquids lol.

I don't understand the whole pre-op diet. My Dr. doesn't have me doing a pre-op diet at all.

  14. Hi everyone... I'm new to this site. My name is Patti. I have not had my lap band surgery yet but i am scheduled to have it Sept. 10, 2012. I am growing more and more nervous and anxious as the day comes closer. I can't wait to have the lap band surgery done and get on my way to a new life. I however am very nervous at the same time. So I thought I would look for a site like this where I could get some support and advise on do's and don'ts and get some help learning how to eat healthier. Well I hope to meet some great people and get some much needed advise. Thanks in advance.

Hello... I'm New To This Site.

I don't take meds for anxiety. I take 3 blood pressure meds everyday. I used to have to take them twice a day due to a kidney issue. I had a kidney removed 2 yrs ago and now my blood pressure is controlled but with the 3 meds I take. Having high blood pressure puts strain on your kidneys and being I only have one it puts even more strain on it. My Nephrologist believes if I lose the weight my BP will come down enough to get off them meds and save my kidney from any further damage and lower my risk of going on Dialysis. All my anxieties are from the concerns I have and the hope that this Lap Band surgery will improve my health. I have a lot riding on this and being successful at it.

Hello... I'm New To This Site.

My Dr. submitted everything to my insurance before I did any pre-op stuff. The office sent my info into the insurance company right after my consultation and I was approved in less then 2 weeks. My consultation was July 17th, had my psych evaluation, met with Nutritionist, and saw my Dr. again on Aug. 16th and he scheduled my surgery for Sept. 10th. all I have to do it the educational online video and pre-op blood work. I don't know if my insurance was so quick to approve it because I have health issues that they believe will improve and get me off 3 meds I take every day or they just approve people fast. Either way I'm glad it's all approved and we are ready to go.

Thanks! I can't wait. I'm so excited, nervous, scared and so many other emotions all at once lol. but most of all I can't wait to start my new life. Will be nice to lose weight and hopefully become a healthier person. I am going to give my Dr. a call Monday morning to find out about the pre-op diet. I will let you know what he says.

Hello... I'm New To This Site.

You're the second person to recommend that book to me. I am going to look it up and order it now. Thanks for the suggestion. The learning how to cook again is something I will definately need help with. I learned to cook from my mom like most girls do. However my mother and Paula Dean should be best friends. They cook everything in a pound of butter lol

Hello... I'm New To This Site.

Wow I have so many... Will I throw up, If I do will the band slip? Will food get stuck, if it does and I can't throw it up how bad will it hurt? Will the band be too tight? The more I read the more nervous I get. I have talked to several people on here and people I know who have had it done and all say those side effects aren't that common but I'm still nervous. I really think I need to stop reading so much because I'm starting to over think things. Just can't wait for Sept 10 th to get here already.

Hi Everyone, I am scheduled to get banded on Sept 10th. I keep hearing everyone say they are going on a pre-surgery liquid diet. My Dr. hasn't mentioned and pre-surgery diet to me at all. Is this something I should ask him about. I'm getting very nervous and want to make sure I am doing everything the correct way. Best of luck to all of you with your surgeries and I wish you all a quick and speedy recovery.
