  1. Hi everyone, I had my gastric band surgery done 2 days ago, on 16th August 2012 in Derby, UK. My surgeon found that I, too, had a hiatus hernia that we did not know about and he had to repair it for the band to work. I have had recurring reflux problems on and off the last 2 years, struggled breathing sometimes and wake up choking in the night, so I am really relieved that it was found and repaired. I came home yesterday and am a little uncomfortable, but not in a lot of pain, more discomfort in the 5 incision areas and the areas where gas is trapped. I am getting rid of it, but it seems to come back as soon as you get rid of it. Walking has helped some. I have tried peppermint tea, but not sure as to whether that is helping or not. I am more worried about not having had a BM yet! Any suggestions?? I was running a low-grade fever, but got it back to normal with paracetamol. The injections I have to give myself daily for 7 days to reduce the risk of a blood clot are horrible, they make me feel sick and really bruise my stomach. I am a bit swollen at the moment and on day 2 of my liquid diet. I remember the old days of Slimfast--it doesn't seem to be so bad now! Any hints, tips, advice for a newbie like me who is experiencing every emotion and feeling would be appreciated! Thanks, Andi
