Any band to sleeve conversions here?
Just wondering about the success of people who converted from band to sleeve. Also looking for people getting the conversion from band to sleeve before the end of this year. I got my band removed 8/28 and I’m converting to the sleeve on 12/18. So excited!

Heartburn from Water?
I just had my band removed on 8/28, and since then, drinking water on an empty stomach (or during exercise) causes me reflux. I drink lots of water, always have, and the reflux is a new problem. I’m getting sleeved next month and am now concerned going in with reflux

Scheduled for Lap Band - Success vs Regret?
During my first year and a half, I had tremendous success and lost 90 pounds. But at one year and seven months, I had to have repositioning surgery due to a Band slip. I was never able to get properly adjusted after that, so 4 years later, my surgeon recommended removal and conversion to Sleeve. I think it's important for people to know both the good and the bad so that they can make an informed decision. And perhaps the fact that people who have had the Band longer have more negative stories to tell may give some people pause to truly consider this very important decision. Do I regret my Band? Absolutely not! But Did the Band last as long as I expected it to last? Definitely not!

Lap band removed!
I meant the approval process is harder than getting approval at time of approval for Band removal. If you seek conversion approval at the same time you seek approval for Band removal, you only have to prove Band defect and surgeon's rec to convert. If seek approval after Band removal, then you have to go thru all of the requirements as you would for an initial WLS. For example, no 6 month supervised diet when seeking approval for Band removal and sleeve conversion at the same time (even tho removal and sleeve can be done in separate surgeries a few months apart). However, if Band gets removed and then you want a sleeve, you have to do a 6 month diet if your ins policy requires that for initial WLS

Reflux AFTER Band removal
Did anyone have their Band removed and then get reflux? I'm not asking about reflux after getting a new WLS. I had my Band removed and am waiting to get the sleeve next month (my Dr does Band removal and conversion WLS as two separate surgeries so the stomach can heal), and I've just gotten awful reflux that started after Band removal. Anyone else?

Lap band removed!
Leeanghadn: I got my Band removed with insurance coverage without a current slip. I called lindstrom obesity advocacy, and they helped me by telling me exactly how to have the doctor submit the request for insurance approval. Also, if you want to convert to another WLS, you need to request that at the same time you request Band removal, or the requirements for a conversion WLS are much harder. Revision from lapband to sleeve
@ElectricBoogaloo: most of the pain was gone by day 10, but the port area still has minor discomfort with exercise
-
Revision from lapband to sleeve
@nosilla: good luck! One thing I didn't expect from the Band removal is how tender my stomach would be from where the port was removed. It took about 7 weeks to be able to exercise without discomfort due to stomach bouncing/jiggling.

Revision from lapband to sleeve
@nosilla: i was banded in dec of 2012 and just had the band removed aug 28th 2018. i am scheduled to get sleeve surgery on 12/18. my doctor does band removal and sleeve conversion as two separate surgeries so that the stomach can heal before being stapled.

Drains & returning to work
I had my lap band removed, and there was a complication that required me to get a drain put in. I’m supposed to go back to work on Monday, but not sure if I’ll get my drain out by then. Did any of you go back to work while your drain was still in? I don’t want to, but I didn’t know if I was being unreasonable

Questions on your experience with the Lap Band
1- I got the Band in 2012 before the sleeve was an insurance approved option. 2- no hair loss 3-I can't really eat rice or pasta 4- the lap Band really helped me to greatly reduce by love affair with carbs; however, my Band slipped after 1.5 years, which required repositioning surgery. After 3 years, it just stopped working and over the next 2.5 years I've gained back 30 of the 90 pounds I've lost. I'm now waiting for insurance approval for Band removal and conversion to sleeve. 5- best tool is tracking my foods
