Conversion from lapband to sleeve - lower BMI
contact www.wlsappeals.com - they helped me get my band removal and sleeve conversion 100% covered at a lower bmi. it is a free phone call and they are super helpful (and saved me the $20,000 out of pocket cost of a sleeve that my dr insisted would not be covered). because the removal was necessary, you can get the conversion 100% covered as long as you request coverage before you remove the band. my dr waits 3 months between removal and conversion, but the key was to request ins approval for conversion when requesting coverage for removal in order to get both converted. hope this helps.

Re-sleeved questions
Anyone get sleeve surgery and find out their surgeon made their sleeve too big? How did you determine that? Did you get re-sleeved? Did re-sleeving make you more successful? Thanks!

Lap band removed no revision
when my dr removed my band, she accidentally left a stitch in my stomach that caused my stomach to create a little pouch that would trap food and cause awful reflux for 3 months

Can you drink too much?
I asked my dr this question and she assured me that liquids won’t stretch the sleeve

Band Removal Advice
There was no confirmation. I think most doctors assume three month is long enough to heal if there are no symptoms

I did, about 8 pounds

Conversion from lapband to sleeve - lower BMI
I gained about 8 pounds between Band and sleeve. I'm not on solids yet, so I'm hungry a lot, but 4oz does satisfy me for an hour or two

Conversion from lapband to sleeve - lower BMI
I had the band, lost 90 pounds, had a slip, had repositioning surgery, and then never able to get a good fill. Had the band removed in aug 2018 and then sleeved dec 2018 at 209 pounds. I’m only a month out, so I don’t have a lot of experience, but I did lose 16 pounds since sleeve surgery
-
Who has had the sleeve? How did you do? Pros and cons? Would you do it again?
I had the band and lost 90 pounds. However, it slipped after 1.5 years, and I had repositioning surgery. Never quite worked the same after that. So 4 years later I got the band removed, and 3 months later (last month) I got the sleeve. I would not recommend the bad. It seems to cause problems for the majority after a few years

Eating question
I know I’m only 4.5 weeks post-op, but I’m concerned about how to get enough nutrition when limited to 4oz of food. I’m still on puréed, so I’m hungry all the time. Last night was my first time back to exercise, and I had no energy. How will I have enough energy to work out when I’m only eating 4oz meals. I know some will say to not exercise for a while, but I’m a group fitness instructor and can’t just quit.

1wk post-op easy to drink fluids already ??
i was able to drink normally and get 60oz of water in by day 5. i specifically asked my surgeon about stretching the pouch with liquids, and she said that i would not as long as i was not chugging 24 oz in a minute

Reflux AFTER Band removal
UPDATE: when my dr did the sleeve, she noticed my stomach was super bloated and still had food in it. The cause - she had left a stitch in my stomach during the band removal surgery 3.5 months earlier, and that portion of my stomach made a pocket that was trapping food and causing reflux. @marilyn1955: did your dr not prescribe PPIs for reflux. i'm on nexium for 1 year post sleeve

Please help
i was banded for 5.5 years. throwing up daily is not normal - get a barium swallow to ensure that your band has not slipped. clearly, your band is too tight, which can lead to a slip, esp when you are throwing up
