    Nikefuel, anyone?

Hey guys - I got a Nike Fuelband for Christmas. For the uninitiated, it tracks movement throughout my day. Does anyone out have one of these or any other Nike+ product? My bracelet uplaods to my phone and web, and I was hoping to find some friends to challenge. Happy New Year, and best of luck everyone! Laura

    Nikefuel, anyone?

I love, love, love mine, too! I've been really putting my mind to it. My daily goal is 4500, but I've been busting 6k most days. Yesterday I had 20,000 steps. I find it so motivating. Are you on Facebook? I think we can be Nike+ friends then, too. I used to use the little thingamabob that you put in your shoe, and it talked to your Nano or ipod. That was strictly for tracking running, though. I got my lapband August 30, and I'm down about 20 pounds. I've used this time to just heal and learn how to eat with the band. Now I need to get goal oriented. I want to be at my goal of 140 by my one year surgery anniversary date. Some people use the Body Buddy, but you have to pay a monthly fee to download your info, which turned me off. Plus, I don't think it is designed to be worn around the clock like the Fuelband. I haven't heard of a FitBit. The Fuelband is Water resistant, so I can take a shower with it on, or dance in the rain. Laura

    So California fills?

Oh, good! They're very nice. Not especially cheap, but probably about the norm for this area. They also do a body analysis that tells you % body fat, bone density, lean muslce mass, etc. I was afraid I didn't have enough restriction, and went back a bout a week later at no charge. I'm pretty tight right now, but that's where I want to be for now. Laura
  4. I had my surgery Aug. 30 with Dr. Almanza for $4,000. It was super easy, no problems. They were very sterile and professional, and I was only out for about 30 minutes. They pick you up at the SD airport and drop you back off there. You don't really leave the hospital, unless you elect to stay in a hotel, and then they drive you there, too. In other words, you aren't running around TJ loosey goosey shopping or anything, so yu aren't really exposed to danger. I live in Orange, CA, so I drove myself to the airport and back, and found a good Dr. in Huntington Beach to do the fill. I had minimal pain or even side effects. Laura

August 2012 Lapbanders - Roll Call

Wow! You've dropped a ton! I'm down about 20 pounds. That priofile picture is old - more of a where-I-want-to-be. I wish I was down that much. I haven't been putting heart and soul into it - I've been operating on more of an eat less of whatever I want system. Give yourself a big pat on the back!

    Funny Nsv

I just got the new Zumba for Wii, but they make it for Kinnect, too. It's a pretty awsome workout. You get a hip belt that holds the remote, and measures the hip shaking on the richter scale, and then awards you points. I just want to look like Gwen Stefani from...well, head to toe. Oh, different subject, but I also just got a scale that measures body fat, bone density, lean muscle mass and all kinds of stuff. Tres cool!

Has "hunger" Changed For You Since Banding?

I've heard that said before. I have two flavors of Isopur, and they both have 50 grams of protein. Curious.

    Having Trouble After Fill...

Thanks, guys! I went back Thursday, and he put more Fluid in my band. I may be a tiny bit overfilled, but I'm just figuring this thing out one step at a time. I'm going to hang tight for now and let everything settle down. So glad to have support. Laura

    Feeling Down After First Fill

Me! Me! Me! I just got my first fill today, and I can already tell there isn't going to be any restriction. I'm supposed to be on Clear liquids. I had my fill about noon today. He said he put 2 ml in my 4 cc band (what's the difference between a cc and a ml?), but I don't feel any restriction at all. I'm not very good at following direction when I'm not having any symptoms of restriction. I ate some soft serve frozen yogurt, a few bites of steak, some dry Cereal, a plum. I can drink anything and as much as I want, and it looks like food is not going to be a problem either. I just paid him $350 today because I'm a new patient, and follow up fills are $165. I'm pretty bummed. Laura

    Having Trouble After Fill...

Well, I am feeling a little jealous! I just got my first fill today, and I can't feel any difference. I'm supposed to be on clears for 24 hours, but I can just tell I can eat just fine. I ate some frozen soft serve yogurt, and a few other things without a problem. I can drink anything hot or cold, just like before. I have a 4 cc band, and he said he put 2 cc's in, which should have given me good restriction. I'm going to be so bummed if I have to turnaound and go back right away, especially if I have to pay him $165. Boo hoo. Laura
  15. I posted this question on the post op forum, and didn't really get any answers, so please pardon me if you are seeing it again. How does band size (4, 8, 10, 12, 14 cc) affect the pace of weight loss, and the fill amounts. Obviously, a 14 cc band holds more Fluid than a 4 cc band, but what does that mean regarding the amount of restriction? Does anyone know? Thanks for any info. Laura

What Difference Does Band Size Make?

Thanks, Sohpie. I have no idea how much they're going to put in. I was just wondering if the comparison was correct. Interestig that you had 2 ml, and went back for another fill just to get it unfilled. It's a learning process. I'd be tickled pink if my first fill landed me int he green zone, for sure. Laura

What Difference Does Band Size Make?

I have a 4 cc band, and I'm having my first fill Monday. So if they put 2 cc's in, it would be like putting 5 cc's in someone that has a 10 cc band. I'm guessing it will take me fewer fills to get to the green zone. Thans for your input! Laura
  18. What is the difference between the two, other than the obvious? How does that affect weight loss and fills? I have the 4 cc band, so I would think I'd need fewer fills. Thanks for any info! Laura
  19. Please fill me in. I'[m four weeks post op and getting my first fill in a couple of weeks.

    What Is Bandster Hell?

Thanks! What does pb'ing stand for? I know what it is, but I can't figure the pb out. I had a weird first month. I gained 12 pounds immediately after surgery, it took about 2 1/2 weeks for that to go away, and then I went down another 8 or 9. I'm not complaining because I was so worried something was wrong at first, I'm happy with my 9 for now. Thanks for the responses! Laura

Fill Dr. In Orange County, Calif.

I just talked to them again. They do fills, but you have to "become a patient" for $1,000, which entitles you to get a fill for $150. Ridiculous.

I talked to them earlier today, and they said they did not do fills. I'm going to try again.

    How Is Everyone Doing?

Hi people! I wanted to hear how everyone else was doing, too. I've had probably an unusual journey comparatively. Pre-surgery I was about 206. My pre-op diet was three days, so I don't know that I lost anything on that. My body is extremely resistant to weight loss, BTW. Surgery was on 8/20, when I got back the next day I was heavier, and the scale kept going up until I was 220. Mind you, I found myself able to eat just about anything, but I didn't haqve an appetite, and took in just enough to make my Protein. After about a week, I happened to get a stomach virus and seriously couldn't keep anything down for a week. So 15 days after surgery and I'm about 214 - 216 and CRAZY over it. I started going down all of the sudden, and yesterday got to 204. Today, about 18 days post-op I was 206. Jeez, what a rollercoaster. Now that I can eat again, I'm pretty much just eating what I want, which is pretty good food, and my quantities are 1/2 to 1/3 of what they were. I'm taking in lots of fluids so if it is Fluid build up it will flush out. I love the feeling of being banded and the reduced emphasis on food. Very happy about my decision. I just wish my loss path was closer to what everyone else's has been. Laura
  24. I had surgery on 8/30. What could be going on? My calorie intake is way down.

    Is It Just Me?

Has any6one else gained weight post surgery with the swelling? I've had really no side effects, and feel great. My incisions are kind of itchy, and I do feel like I'm healing from within now. My surgery was Thursday and I'm 8 to 10 pounds up.I don't feel like I have gas, I just feel a little bloated. Come on guys, any input?
