Great post!!! I did not realize our coordinator would/could do all those things... I definitely wouldn't mind doing a little shopping and experiencing Tijuana when there.
May I ask where you went?

Hey, that is exactly what my husband and I were doing a little over a month ago. We did not hit the Casino though, but still had a good time with Omar shopping and sight seeing!

Congrats on your new life. Remember to get your fluids in. I glad you didn't have any complication with Dr. Kelly. He would have charged you unlike other doctors.

Congrats! I am 3 days too!! My surgery went well, aside from my high BP, I'm so elated that I dropped 22lbs just from the pre op diet, my only battle is gas and my BP, but I know both will get better with time! I feel so much better, I know you do too:-D

I see the hallmarks you were talking about, the contours in your shoulder and neck area. Your face looks much younger too. Great job!

I am also addicted to food. Food when I am happy and food when I am sad. Any kind of emotion I want food. Especially carbs. I quite smoking after 35 about 12 years ago so why can't I quit eating the wrong foods. You licked smoking and drinking, you are very strong also. It is not easy. I hope together with the help of this group and with prayer we can do it. Best of luck to you and keep in touch.

It's empowering to realize you have choices about who you allow into your "inner circle." That's how I think of it: concentric circles for levels of access and trust and influence. There are only a few in my inmost circle. It's good to sort it out. Good for you!!

Check out www.khanacademy.org . You can pick any subject and start as basic as you need. It definitely is less traumatic for me than trying to have my kids explain anything! And of course it's online so it's there whenever you feel like checking something out. Good luck!

I am with you!! Start pureed on Tuesday:) I am blessed to have a wonderful husband that cooks me the best things! In the last week I have had homeade soup pureed. The doctor gave me the okay on that only because I was having problems with liquids. Things are better now! We are on our way!! Watch out world!!

Good luck, and congrats on the stopping the smoking and drinking. The pre-op diet is a challenge but you'll be able to get through it. I am enjoying the weightloss but the limited diet is challenging but time will change that. It is a lot of change so I pray that you have a great support system you will definitely need it.

On a completely non-philosophical note, when I got the chance to go to college I was terrified of math. I had avoided it in highschool (took "Business Math"). I found an old book titled "Math Without Fear" and it walked me step by excruciating step through very simple math concepts and it even helped me really understand what algebra was all about. It gave me enough confidence in my abilities to tackle college level algebra, statistics, technical math, and even accounting (what a horrible 2 semesters THAT was !). I don't know if it's still in print but it is a great investment if you can find it. Good luck !

Years ago I read a book about this.Cant remember the books name but it is something like "The defeated perfectionist".I didnt believe it then,I sure do now!
So,I m learning to be a plodder too!

sheila2050 reacted to 300PoundsDown in Being A "pleaser"
I totally agree with everything you said!! Perfectionism is what messes up so many of us. Sometimes it is hard to see it as being perfectionistic when you didn't even start to begin with. I would often say "How can I be a perfectionist when I have not done one thing?" But so many things I will not even start b/c I know I won't accomplish it perfectly. Now I'm giving myself permission to "plod along" as you say. The scale tells me something I don't want to hear then I don't give up. I plod along. And you know what...it works?? It doesn't have to be perfect. Sometimes life is not a straight shot. It's a roller coaster. I think you have stumbled on something here!! Great post!
