Whoa!!! I think your posts should keep coming! Screw the negativity of others! They can choose to overlook it! Since we are all here for the help and support of each other I thought I may share a book that ive been reading about suplementing our craving with food for our craving for GOD!!!
Apparently GOD works for a lot of us and I'm SO HAPPY to share it with y'all!

Another one of my favorites I can offer to the one that doesn't want to hear about GOD and our inspiration he has in our lives is called "The Christian Athiest". You should read it! Good luck an because your so offended to even read about the word of god in OUR FEELINGS and HOW WE ARE GETTING THROUGH OUR ADDICTIONS....I pray the LORD ALMIGHTY HAS MERCY ON YOUR SOUL! Here is the link for you

lawson reacted to Jachut in Cardio Vs Weigth Training
In an ideal world, you do both. But I think cardio offers health benefits away from body composition and weight loss that are harder (not impossible) to get with strength training - especially the type of strenght training that most women will commit to. But strength training offers many benefits that cardio doesnt.
For pure weight loss, if you dont particularly care about having muscles, cardio wins. It torches calories and makes you thin. It also makes you not very muscular or strong but you will be very tough and have great endurance. I'm biased because this is what I value - I love to be able to run 20kms, I dont give a rats ass about being able to bench press a certain weight. I like being thin, I dont want more muscle than what I have. But I also know my bones are quite weak, and I'm not very strong and I really COULD benefit from strength training to protect me going into old age, keep me strong, agile etc. Too much running will probably end with more hip and knee problems than I would otherwise have!
But that said - to lose weight and get thin (and I lost 120% of my excess) I ran and ran and ran. And still do. Its the reason I get to eat 1800 to 2000 a day to maintain and never ever had to limit bread, Pasta etc. I also love it, so its easy for me. And I'm not flabby or completely muscle-less, just not what you'd call a curvy. Which at 5ft 10 suits me fine - dont want to look like a footballer anyway.
At the end of the day there's no point in comparisons - both have advantages, but both build different sorts of bodies and you can go either way really - its all exercise, and both will do you loads of good.

I am not being "judgmental"...but I do stay grounded in reality. There is a time to teach, a time to learn, and a time to face the reality that you are placing yourself at risk for serious complications.
If you feel that my sharing the realities of those risks is to be "judgmental", that's only your opinion and I don't agree with it. Perhaps you could share what you believe to be the proper way to alert another that they are at risk for serious complications if they don't learn how to understand the limitations with their band, learn how to work with their band and use it as it was designed to be used.
I don't believe to "sugar coat" information helps the individual who needs to learn...as a realist I tell it like it is. My profession requires/required it.
If you believe I'm being judgmental, I would say that you are clueless about how to interpret my written words...and thus you are being "judgmental".
IMHO...your mileage does vary...best wishes and hoping you have a successful weight loss journey.

That makes no sense to me...and it flies in the face of the principle of having a band.
It also indirectly says that your relationship with food has not changed. To obtain and maintain a healthy weight, we need to control our portions, and accept that we eat to live and not live to eat. Holidays, or other "convenience" excuses are not a valid reason to request an unfill.
My surgeon would refuse...however I would not ask.
    IMHO...your mileage may vary...

I have 5 scars and they are ugly..... But worth it!
I only vomit by inducing it. The ony time I have vomit was when I ate too fast and did not chew and eating big bites too fast. I never vomit unless I make myself to get the food out because it was too big to go past the band.
I do not feel the band but I can feel my port when I push hard on my stomach.
Befoe you get the band, you need to want it and be ready ......not to do it because someone asked or thinks you need to. You have to really want it and want to change. It's not easy! A lot of complications comes from people not doing what the doctor says. You will need to follow diets and exercise like any other diet! I thought when I got my band that the weight will just fall off sadly it don't!!! Work work work!! Totally different life style and you gotta be ready for it!
You will have an appetite curve, but your mind still wants the food! I had to give up carbonated drinks..... That was really hard, but I don't want a slip so I gave them up!
You will have to learn when to stop eating, slow down when eating and not eat big bites. Chew chew chew your food so you don't have complications.
Protein is very important! Your hair will fall out if you do not get enough protein!

lawson got a reaction from greeneyedangel in Am I Crazy To Get Banded?? Only 25-30 Lbs To Lose.
I am with the group as well! You think this is a fix, but it's not! I payed cash for mine also....I I was 197 and I am now 169. The only reason for me to have the surgery was because I've gained weight and all on my back. I injured my back several years ago and I started gaining weight and not losing. I gained so much weight that it was hurting my back more and I knew it would help some to get the weight off. The band helped me psychologically but I am still doing all the hard work that I could have done if I would have just followed the same rules as if I didn't have the band! I guess it took the band to give me motivation..... I don't regret getting it done and if that is what it takes for you also then do it
I have learned with the band a new way of life and I don't know why it took the band to show me!
It took the band to get me off carbonated drinks, bread( I love bread) and exercise more!!! Don't know why I couldn't do it before??? Oh, I also am still learning to eat slower ..... Still working on that!

I just bought my first scale and I also think that is why I was so large because I let my weight creep up on me by not checking my weight..... Not now.....on it day and night too!!

My doctor said NO and NO carbonated drinks at all! This is the hardest thing I've done!!! I have to keep in mind that a soda isn't worth me wasting all the money I have put into the surgery.

You can buy tea that is all natural in the tea section of the grocery store that helps!!! All natural! Drink a cup of this warm tea before bed and the next morning you should go! The tea is called, Smooth Move. Look at HEB and I know Brookshires have it with the herbal tea.
