  1. Morning sleevers today is my first milestone I transition to Protein Shakes and puréed foods today! I feel a lot better today than I had been also considering yesterday was my first day I really got a lot of walking in I went to Sam's club and for those who've been in there know the walk I had. Still a little tightness, but Im ok. Glad I'll be able to try to get more Protein in today and move beyond Popsicles

  2. I assumed you're pretty far out- didn't look up your date.

I'm just going to say this because of a couple comments here. I called my Dr. because I ate a whole scrambled egg which went down really easy (at 2 weeks). Turned out my program didn't consider that pureed when other people's did. Mine considers it "soft food." Everyone is different. She said (the NP) even though it went down fine doesn't mean I'm allowed to have it. So pain or not isn't what should dictate diet. That book or instructions you get from your program should.

Not judging you at all--- but saying it for new people reading. :)

Sounds like we are on similar paths scrambled eggs are considered soft foods in my diet book from my provider also

  3. I recently started to take Biotin 5000 mcg a day because my hair is thinning really bad. Has anyone here taken Biotin for hair' date=' skin or nails? Does it work?

My worry is that once I have surgery the few strands of hair I have left will fall out. [/quote']

Yes me and biotin have been good friends for a while and get along quite well. Even before thoughts of surgery I took it just to keep full healthy thick grade of hair, and I went to Vitamin shoppe to get the chewables so I could still take after surgery

  4. oooh... i couldn't do that' date=' either.. IUD can puncture the uterus walls.. i like my uterus & that is what makes orgasms feel the way they do.. so i'm not risking it getting punctured, i don't care who i'm with. YIKES!

i also have a guy friend who was telling me about one of his past GF's.. they were having sex & the IUD she had ended up poking him right in his pee hole... needless to say, that kinda ended the mood for 'em & was very unpleasant for him.... lol[/quote']

The implant is in my arm so no scaring of my uterus. It works for me very little to no side effects. Implant and IUD are two different methods.

  5. I'm not sure if this is too personal but I'm trying to find out about birth control. My surgeon said the pill may be ineffective' date=' my primary said there are no studies stating that and at support groups most people are "fixed". I don't want to risk getting pregnant. I really appreciate all your help!!![/quote']

I got the implant put in a week before my surgery. My obgyn highly recommend and alternative since I was having the surgery. Plus can't take pills for like 2 months post op

  6. Thanks for post. Have been afraid to try greek yogurt because thought it might give me problems with fruit in it.

My surgery was 8/13. When was yours?

My Surgeon told me to stay away from fruit yogurts during my pre-op. I was also sleeved on 8/13 but im still on Clear Liquids to transistion to full liquids next week. When i was on pre-op i got the plain greek yogurt and added sweetner like sweet n low or splenda to it, an it made the taste better. you can also try some extracts that will help with taste some

  7. I am with you I am six days out and still have pain in my incision. Like the other lady said we just had Major Surgery. One thing I will say when the drain was removed it felt a lot better it was a huge relief. Just continue to walk and take you pain medicine. If its still really really bad i would say reach out to your Dr or go to the hospital, better safe than sorry.

  8. I actually found my weight management program to be very helpful preparing me for surgery. It was very informative and my dietition and nutritionist would put me on plans to prepare me for what was to come after surgery. Believe me i felt the same way, but i'd much rather me infomred educated and prepared verses just having the surgery and then having to learn what to do and not to do...

You will ultimately have to do whats best for you!

  9. In order for the insurance company to count it, your monthly participation and weight has to be documented. Unfortunately, online diets do not count...even weight watchers because you are not having your weight documented. Trust me, I tried! I belonged to and followed the Jillian Michaels diet online. It did not count. Other programs besides Weight Watchers would be Quick Weight Loss Centers or any other weight loss centers or medically supervised diets like Medifast where you were monitored and weighed either weekly or monthly.

I have United Health Care and weight watchers and individual dieting did count for me. with weight watchers your progress is tracked online all i had to do was log onto my online account and show my progress. the purpose of the 6 month program is to track your progress and dcoument a medical advised diet. Through my insurance we have Bariatric Resources who handled everything along with my Dr's office. I would reconmend you call your insurance and see whats offered. I had to submitt 5 year weights and complete the 6 moth program. when i submitted to insurance on june 20th they called me 2 days later approving me and I was givin a surgery date

    GOOD LUCK!

  10. I'm really having a lot of pain both were the incision is and the drainage tube. This morning when I woke up there was a lot of blood in the drainage cup. The past couple of days its been clear to slight pinkish. Very concerned should I call my doc is this normal please help. :(

Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using VST

I would say call your Dr better safe than sorry. I'm 6 days out and my right side where incision is still very sore. That's the side they pulled the stomach out. Just walk and take pain meds I promise it will get better. My drain was taken out before I left hospital but once your dr removes it that area will feel better. I have heard of some people going home with drains I wouldn't worry much but still ask dr about it...feel better
