Cravings
I know that the cravings are hard. I watch the family eat chickfila and pizza and crave it, but I know deep down that is why I'm fat. What do the feed cows to fatten them up? cor. What is a main item in almost everything you listed, Corn. Try mixing taco seasoning in with the ground meat you eat. I eat a hot dog in smal slices with chili occasionally. At this stage you have to be creative. I like Guacamole on my tuna. Working to make a creative plate helps, but of course eating the same thing daily is hard. After surgery I put a cheeto in my mouth and sucked on it crunched it twice, spit it out and rinsed. I had to have something salty, crunchy and bad for me. You can do it. Just remember your fat pix and keep a pair of the fat pants to compare yourself when you have the big cravings.

Having A Hard Hard Time
The pre op diet was very difficult for me. I sought the help of my family and tots. I felt horrible and wanted to eat everything in sight. Did I cheat, yes. Did I have remorse, yes. Yet, I did my best, lost weight and have been healthier every day since. Today I am 33 days post surgery and want a salty, crunchy experience and can't for 3 more weeks. You can do it.

Smetimes I Just Want To Have Dinner!
I am 33 days out, I think it been difficult. I eat Tuna with avocado sort of like a crab tower without the greens, turkey chili with 3 Beans, crab salad, shrimp salad, egg salad, chicken salad For dinner tonight we had hunters style pork chops with roasted carrots and mushrooms Roasted eggplant, zuke, tomatos without seeds with a sprinkle of parm cheese Pot roast with the roasted veg I eat what the family eats in smaller portions. I haven't been to eat. I just make sure that I utilize my grill, broiler and cut out the oil, butter and junk. I haven't tried this yet, I just found it. http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/cookbooks.asp?cookbook=13807

Frustration With Protien
I can't drink the Protein shakes with milk any more. It took me about 2 weeks to be able to drink a protien drink in under 3 hours. I started drinking 2 ounces, putting it back in the fridge, coming back 30 minutes later and drinking more until it was all gone. I have developed a distaste for them. I started drinking the Isopure zero carb Protein Shakes from GNC. I can drink plain milk, but the taste of the protein is intolerable. I also can not drink plain Water. It actually turns my stomach and causes pain. I talked to the surgeon and he suggested mixing up the Protein drinks with more variety including ice cubes in the blender, Peanut Butter or a bit of a bananna. He gave me a list of about 50 variations to try and suggested citrus or cukes in the water to change the make up enough. I am 32 days out from surgery now and have found that if I don't drink the protein I don't lose. I haven't lost a pound in 3 weeks because I wasn't getting enought calories. I also started using a straw eventhough it is not suggested because if helps.

Calcium Citrate
I found a liquid form at the health food store. I am able to take a tablespoon twice a day. It is a bit chalky, but I feel its easier than grinding up any more pills. They had 6 different flavors. I was able to get liquid biotin and vitamin d. A real health food granola store not a vitamin shop.

How Much Help Will I Need In Hospital Vs Home?
I posted this after I left the hospital. I hope it helps. One thing that i would add is take a pillow with you for the care ride home. I did it. I lost it on July 31. Feeling like I had another cesarean birth. I'm just glad there isn't a newborn to take care of. I've finally lost all the operative gases and can feel my bowels again. No movement, but I can feel them. Hubby had to help with the shower which made me feel so much better. I am below my presurgery weight. The tots are coping well with Mommy not being active and Dad doing the cooking. I think they are tired of turkey sandwiches and hot dogs. It has been encouraging for the tots to say I love you Mum and give kisses while I slept it off on day 3 when I got home. I was extremely nauseated days 2-4, but keeping up on the antinausea meds really helps. It has subsided. The abdominal shots aren't too bad. My hub is a former medic so it helps. I do recommend if you have any feeling to tinkle get up and go. You may think you have time, but the pain meds affect you differently. I am not dehydrated and keep a bottle or glass in my hand at all times. Not liking the unflavored unjury Protein, but the chocolate is great. It was hard to have the tots and dad eat chickfila in front of me, but I'm not going to cheat and stick with it. I want something meaty, salty, crunchy like an addict needs a hit. I know its in my head, but am finding it difficult to seperate at times. I can not say that wearing a bra feels good. I dug out the shelf bra tops and sports bras because I have an incision right on the line. I stopped taking the pain meds on day 6, hubby went to work and I'm alone with the tots and all went well. Still need to nap and go slow, but feeling much better than I thought I would.

I Know I Need To Drink More, But How?
I have a large lidded cup 32 oz, that I consume. I am able to keep track of my intake better. I use a straw too. I haven't had any gas issues from it. I drink water plain, with lemon or lime, cukes, anything to keep it fresh with out going sweet. I am tired of sweet. I was also a gulper. I probably still am actually. I used to drink a gallon of water a day with out flinching. When I'm out I keep a bottle of water with me and drink, drink, drink especially at every stop light.

Stopped Lossing Lbs
Thank you so much. I had no idea about the stall. Things were going so well. I wonder if upping my water and walking will help a bit. Good luck on your surgery.

Stopped Lossing Lbs
Good day all. I am 15 days out from surgery, I have stopped losing weight. Not an ounce in 5 days. I have been very active walking about 30-45 minutes per day. I have been consuming my protein and water. No mush allowed for another week. Is this normal? Any advice to get things going again?

August 31St - Big Day!
I was just sleeved on July 31st. I am also using the Unjury products. Loving the vitamin and the chocolate protiens, but the unflavored smells like old chicken to me. I feel like I had a cesarean birth. Its not that bad. Day 3 was rough, but I feel pretty good. At least I'm not caring for a newborn at the same time as I am healing. I wish you all the best.

Need Advice...
My spouse has attempted to sabatoge me every step of the way. From not being available to take the kids so I can attend classes. I have bcbs and they as in the prior blog accepted right away. I was required to get an upper gi, psych eval, 3 months of classes, the dr visits, pre op exam, blood work, the liquid diet. All together I've spent about $2000. Be prepared! I'm sure your breasts will decrease as they are fat tissue, but I wouldn't be concerned. We are young and as long as we make the lifestyle change they won't be deflated as you may think. Weight training will help with the saggy skin. My spouse is doing everything he can to keep me fat so no one else will want me and I won't leave. I've more powerfull than that and so are you. Find a center of excellence near you and research before you jump. My surgery is tomorrow and I am excited about starting the rest of my life.

July 31 Is The Day
My surgery is tomorrow. I've been attempting to explain the liquid diet to my 2 tots and it has been difficult. The doc gave me the reasonable expection that I maybe out of commision for at least 5 days. My spouse has been unsupportive in the whole process and I think will do anything to hinder me. For anyone that has had surgery, how long were you out of commision and were you able to take care of your kids? I don't have help and am a stay at home mom.

Explaining Liquid Diet To Kids?
Good day all. I'm going in on July 31, 2012 and am excited to share the experience with you. Does anyone have kids that they have had to explain why they no longer are eating food, but just drinking what my kids call milkshakes at meal time. I have having difficulty explaining why Mummy cooks dinner, but won't eat the salmon. I have tried the approach that Mummy's tummy hurts and it makes it feel better, but its not working.

Bathroom Question
I haven't had my surgery yet, but I can not consume sugar free products. I become a gassy gal. I work hard to avoid chemical sweetened items at all costs. I am actually having issues with the super sweet liquid diet.
