  1. Hi.... Congrats on your pregnancy... I was sleeved on 2/4/13 so ima about 7months in... I just found out yesterday that I'm prego... I have very mix feelings.. I'm super happy & extra scared! So I totally understand how you feel...I'm trying to see my gyn ASAP... Cuz my surgeon has no opening till December!! That's nuts!! She will prolly be upset anyways.... I'm 18lbs from reaching my gold & it's very hard for me to conceive.. I have a miracle baby girl she is 6 now :) she is my everything..... One thing my dr. Stress was waiting 2yrs before u try to conceive & it happy to me this fast... It's unbelievable... I'm still shock can't believe it till I see it lol but every question you asked I would like to no myself if anyone reply to your forum please forward me some info... Thanks ... Ps what prenatal Vitamins & other pills do u take for now?

Congrats to you! If I get any info I will forward it to you. As far as Vitamins. I just switched to New chapter prenatal vitamins. They are a little pricey but supposed to be easy on your digestive track. So far I haven't had any problems with them. I also take B12, Calcium + vit d, coqu10, garlic, phytophanare & fish oil. I need to go get a folic acid pill as well.

  2. I know how you feel. I keep saying the same thing I wish I had some negative reinforcement to help me.

The only thing I've eaten thus far that's made me sick was not peeling the skin off a cucumber. I wish I had more self control or better didn't push my boundaries to see what I could eat. This is hard. But I wouldn't change it for anything. Down 98lbs! Wouldn't of been able to do that prior to surgery.

  3. Preferably my Dr wants you to wait 12-18 months postop. I am 8 months postop and just found out we are about 5 weeks pregnant. Called my surgeon he was not mad at all. Said congrats, told me to take my Vitamins, get my Vitamin levels checked and of course prenatal care. He did say typically they would of liked us to wait, however it was an oopsy. It happens when it's supposed to happen is how I look at it.

    Good luck to you.

Oh in my fb sleeve group we had a girl get pregnant at 6 weeks postop. She is very healthy losing a little and is having a healthy pregnancy.

  4. Hello all!

I was sleeved 12/10/13, down a total of 98lbs including preop. I consider myself a slow loser but I'll take it over the alternative. I recently found out i am pregnant. About 5 weeks. I am so scared that I am going to stop losing. And I am so scared to gain. We were planning on waiting until next year to try figuring I would be at goal then. My dr also says to try to wait 12-18 months postop before. But it happens when it happens.

I guess I just want some info from ladies who have been in this boat. How did it go for you? Did you lose while pregnant, did you gain? How much did you lose before being pregnant and how much did you gain? Was there anything different that you wish you would of done while being pregnant?

I started a good prenatl pill that i take 3 times a day. Its nice that it doesnt make me sick. With my daughter the prenatals made me so sick. I am also taking Progesterone at night before bed. it makes me so sick. I get very dizzy, almost feel like i am drunk and i just have to go to sleep about 40 minutes after i take it.

Here's to a happy and healthy pregancy and baby!

Please note I'm not trying to be debbie downer about it, trust me i am very excited, i am just nervous. timing is off but i am embracing it!

thanks in advance to those that respond.

  5. i got sick 11 days before my surgery with a sinus infection. i felt it coming on and called my dr right away and asked for an antibiotic. normally i wouldnt of done that an i would have fought it out for a bit. but i was on a time crunch trying to get my surgery before the end of 2012 and did not want to reschedule. i know mine was a little longer time than yours but it cant hurt to call and ask if you can get some meds or find out what protocol is if you have a cold.

  6. Can a doctors office with hold your medical records? In the morning, I'm going to call another WL center that's 1 1/2 hours away, to consult with their weight loss coordinator. Thanks all for the helpful information. I believe this current surgeon has his heart in his pocket. Best of luck to everyone in their weight loss journey!

no they can not withhold them. however its typically quicker to have the new dr request them than it is for you to request them. just my experience though. you will have to sign a paper giving the dr rights to get the results. but they should be able to do it via fax or electronic fax through computers.

  7. i'm starting to feel like i am done losing and i still have 74lbs to go to goal. i started at 332, dos i was 300, today i am 238.

the last few months i have been traveling a lot for work and its starting to take a toll on my weight loss. its hard to stay on track. especially when i sit in the hotel on the weekends. we are in a bad area and have a rental car or 4 people to share. i go to the gym but i am just not motivated to do anything and i talk myself out of a good workout.

my weight loss is SLOW. the middle of may i was 244, today i am 238, almost 3 months later. i have let carbs slip back in a bit. i just don't feel like that is the problem with how little we can eat. but maybe it is. i just feel like i am done losing and it freaks me out. i do get all my Water in and my Protein. just feeling really blah and i miss my family.

i dont know what to do to reset? go back to basics? do a 2 week liquid diet again? any thoughts or suggestions would be great.

  8. for me personally i would not do this as an outpatient. like a few have stated so much can go wrong after and i personally would rather be at the hospital. after i woke up from surgery i was very sick and throwing up for a couple hours after. i am glad they didnt ship me out. i was scared because i was throwing up blood from surgery. and it honestly freaked me out. i actually ended up staying for 4 days due to my new tummy swelling so much that i couldn't get fluids down. so i had to stay until i could pass my leak test. i was sleeved on a Monday and was discharged Thursday night. i completely understand the financial aspect of this. the hospital charged my insurance almost 72k for my stay!!! however i dont think i would of felt comfortable going home right away. also having a small complication i couldnt go home.

  9. Ok, so I've thought about WLS on and off for years, I tried to get gastric bypass 10 years ago when I was 26, and 90lbs lighter. I went through all the requirements and got denied. I appealed and got denied again. I was upset, but I lost some weight on my own and was feeling good about myself, I then unexpectedly met my husband and I forgot about WLS. But over the years I gained weight, which wasn't an issue for my husband, but bothered me. I would talk about WLS but never really felt ready, then within the last 4 years, I've lost a lot of family and loved ones, to cancer, heart attack, or complications from their illnesses.

I started thinking of my life and my health, I have hbp, but nothing crazy, I'm on a low dose of hbp meds, sleep apnea, and of course I'm fat. I decided I wanted to get WLS.

So I researched and found a Dr. On the list provided by my insurance, found a Dr. I liked and my insurance had a designated center for excellence for bariatric surgery, so I felt good about my decision, started my requirements to get approval in January. Met the surgeon, Dr. Hilaro Juarez and he took his time going over my options and history. I felt good. Did my 6 month weight lost attempt, ekg, pulmonary testing, and got my family Dr's support. My paperwork was submitted on July 9, got my approval 5 days later, got my surgery date 3 days later. I'm scheduled to have surgery on August 19th, do my pre-op testing tomorrow August 5, and start my 2 week liquid pre-op diet tomorrow too.

With that being said, I'm scared. I'm freaking out. I'm aware of the complications and everything, but I'm scared. I can't help it. My brain is going through so many scenarios and I am worried. I have been so confident with my decision up til now and with it 2 weeks away, I am so scared and don't know what to do. Anyone else have some crazy anxiety before surgery? I need some feedback, I have a great support system, which is my husband and kids, but they don't know how scared I am, and I don't feel right putting them through my fears when I know they have their own. Ok. Done spazzing out for now.

what you are feeling is perfectly normal! i think part of doing all your research is knowing all the complications that could happen. and for me that is what was creating anxiety. also for me i had never had any type of surgery so the whole thing was a new experience for me. for me personally i was a basket case the 3 weeks leading up to surgery. the day before surgery i gave my 3 year old a hug and a kiss and i was balling. i was convinced i wasn't going to see her again. but the morning of surgery i was completely at ease with my decision and i knew i was making the right decision. i trusted my surgeon and the place i was going. i knew i was in good hands. also if you feel it will make you personally feel better. tell your hubby how you are feeling. for me it helped to talk about it and i learned my husband had some of the same fears and worries.

hopefully this helps you a bit. if you have any questions feel free to pm me.

  10. i would definitely get a second opinion. there are so many doctors out there. is he not comfortable with performing the sleeve? how many sleeve gastrectomies has this surgeon and practice performed?

there is a reason he is pushing the band. according to my surgeon and his group they claim the band with will taken away in the coming years do to its inefficiency and complication rate. a lot of band patients end of converting to the sleeve or rny.

definitely do research and i would definitely find a different doctor and see what they say. that is just my opinion of course but i wouldn't be comfortable with that response from him.

also i have gerd prior to getting sleeved. mine actually got better since being sleeved. i know some people who did not have reflux prior to getting sleeved get it after but mine seems to have gotten better. i do still take a ppi but preop i did as well but i still had bouts of reflux. now i don't ever have problems unless i eat and then lay down too soon. i have woken up choking on acid 3 times from doing that.
