How long did it take you to get to goal weight? A whole month? You say you're "a Christian" but you said some pretty idiotic and immature things in this thread. Not very Christian if you ask me.

I think it's just scary to me Frank, one of these girls was on another thread going after a fellow sleever who is at goal weight and eats healthy.
And ate normal amounts during her losing stage (around a thousand) Saying why would you get 2/3 of your stomach cut out just to eat that much!!
I know this girl must be scared because she currently has a lap band and did not lose the weight.. Nothing is perfect nothing is a miracle..
We all want the same thing at the end of the day,
    Health and happiness..
It's a sad sorry state of affairs if you ask me...

Laura, to be honest with you, I have taken a light hearted approach to this thread, especially with the comments from fatties on the fatso site telling another fellow fatty how fat he is....kind of ironic and comical actually. Anyways.....the poster BigFatLoser said it best. If someone with a 30 BMI feels that pressured by this discriminating world and resorts to something this drastic, then I SERIOUSLY think she needs to seek psychiatric help. This person has issues a lot deeper then a "weight problem." The doctor is also in question since he obviously cares more about a lousy $5,700, then potentially screwing up even worse someone that already has issues. I'm just being honest.

I think so much of these comments are uncalled for and... well.... I think a lot of things right now.
But as for not seeing anyone who has regretted it? Unfortunately I've seen many in just the last week alone! I don't know why. I'm asking those people why? Because it seems to be happening a lot more lately... I don't know if its that so many people are doing it now that the number of regrets are now higher or misinformation getting out there and taken as gospel... I do not regret my surgery at all... But there are downsides to it I won't lie... But you seem to want to know only the upsides... That's your prerogative and I am not here to stop you! I was just giving information.
I find the attacks juvenile and of poor character...

I'm sorry but if at 30 bmi you feel that you are too fat for the world, or however you put it, you clearly are in need of some professional help and should get it before you get the surgery. Just my opinion.

I think we can all have differing opinions without being disrespectful to each other...... Can't we?
There are a few posts in this thread that are completely uncalled for. Please think about what you post, posting inflammatory statements or taking pot shots at another member accomplishes nothing except calling attention to yourself.

I agree with prior posts questioning why you would have this surgery at 30 BMI. Seems quite extreme.
    But, to each their own.
There are people here who have struggled with major weight issues for their whole life, and have lots of medical complications as a result, and are seeking surgery to improve their health and extend their life. In my opinion (which, I realize you didn't ask for it, but oh well), this is strictly about vanity. I just don't understand why you'd do this to yourself considering your current weight.
I know this won't deter you, but this is an open forum, and that's my two cents. Luck for you, they'll take anyone's money in Mexico...

Rollagirl, you sound like an immature kid when you keep making personal attacks about how "big I am" or how effed up my liver was, or how I have no will power. Knock off the childish crap and read what I have written. I have not personally attacked you but have questioned your logic and the crappy information you were given.

You're right Laura. I personally believe that will power is THE absolute most important factor in this whole journey. For me personally, I think that's why I think I have been so successful. I am rigid to a point of craziness sometimes. I have lost 126 lbs in 4 months and a week for a reason. I have stuck to the fundamentals of this surgery and have not wavered off the path even once. Having this surgery is no freakin joke. For a doctor to allow a person with a 30 BMI to do this to themselves is almost criminal in my opinion. Unless again, like I said, they have some sort of serious medical condition which warrants it. (whatever that could possibly be)

I've been completely transparent about surgery with everyone who asks 'how have you done it?'
If people compliment me on my weight loss I just thank them.
I have never had a single negative reaction. Maybe it's luck? I do work in a pretty alpha male environment, not a single unsupportive comment or joke etc.
Having said that because I'm so transparent I've had 4 people start their weight loss surgery journey. One (a daughter of a work colleague actually) has had her VSG surgery. I'm pretty happy / proud to have had some input into helping others.
I know other threads have degenerated on this topic. I respect everybody's right to maintain their privacy if that's what they want to do. And, like has been discussed people really should not be so nosey to ask or assume. But they do. I'd feel uneasy having a cover story for those times.
I have a friend who gave a cover story to her new in-laws. She was worried because they're quite 'healthy and sporty' and didn't want to be judged. The cover story has started to unravel and I guess now she has been judged by them anyway, perhaps (rightly or wrongly) more harshly.
Make the decision on this that's best for you.

Well, hopefully you can get the scope ASAP so there's no delay for your surgery - the surgeon needs clear idea of what he'll encounter during surgery, so the testing is more to prepare him, not to decide whether or not you can proceed with surgery.
Good luck, I hope you get good news!!

I've been pretty open with everyone I know. I've gotten a few curious looks from a couple of people but mostly everyone is supportive. A lot of them are curious as to what the surgery entails so I explain it to them and they either look at me kinda funny ( lmao) or are encouraging in their replies. Yes - I can tell that a few think I am taking the easy way out. Like I care what they think. At almost 3 weeks out I can assure you it's not the easy way out. In fact, it's harder than I thought it would be.
It's all up to you. If you wanna keep it private then by all means do so. if you wanna let it be known and just sit and wait for the first person to give you a smart remark then so be it. All that matters it you made your choice and you make your own decisions. Anyone not liking it can go ( fill in appropriate insult ) themselves.
