  1. That does sound scary! Please let us know what your surgeon says. I hope all is well!!
  2. I think that's the healthier way to go - lots of people become addicted to that scale and getting on it every single day is not an accurate measure of weight loss because your weight will fluctuate. It's normal to go up and down each day - but if you go once a week or every 2 weeks, that's a more accurate way to see the big picture on if you're gaining or losing. THAT SAID - I did buy a scale at costco a few weeks ago because it was on a really good sale! lol but I've stuck by the "weigh no more than once a week rule" and so far, so good!
  3. You look incredible! Awesome job with the weight loss! Now it's time to update that profile pic - you're a skinny-mini now!
  4. It can mean so many things, really. Depending on how high, it could be fatty liver, hepatitis, an abscess - has your doctor recommended any other testing to confirm why it's so high? Have you had any alcoholic beverages lately?
  5. Weird... I haven't heard of that. Call her back and find out what's upppp!
  6. Yes, the preservatives used in food are ridiculous! Buying fresh and organic can be a challenge, but thankfully the post-sleeve life means we don't need as much, so we can better afford to get ourselves the very best!
  7. That's awesome, Space Dust!! Congrats! Can't wait to find out when you get your date! :)
  8. I'm definitely not trying to be critical - obviously you're doing great with the weight loss! But it doesn't hurt to be reminded, right? Plus, c'mon, FUNYUNS ARE DELICIOUS! Tho, Doritos are my fav. I've always been a weirdo who liked to dip her Doritos in cottage cheese. Now I can pretend it's healthy for me! (in moderation, of course)
  9. My advice for the pre-op diet is: DO. NOT. CHEAT. Seriously, it makes it SOOOO much harder. I was highly disciplined with myself for the first time IN MY LIFE on the pre-op diet, and my hunger pangs went away completely after about 3 days - and STILL have not returned and I'm 6 days post op. Those first 3 days were HARD. REALLY HARD. I wanted to cheat. I dreamed of cheating. But I'm so glad I didn't! When you cheat, it's most likely to be with something carb-y or sugary, and those things will put you right back in the cycle of fluctuating blood sugar that keeps you feeling hungry and keeps you craving more. So as hard as it is, DON'T CHEAT!!! Clear your cabinets now - say good-bye to that junk food life and take this part seriously. You will find so many people on here that are enablers and tell you it's okay to cheat, that some docs don't even require a pre-op diet, that it's nuts to do the liquid diet because we're obviously addicted to food -- that's just justifying bad behavior, IMO. BE STRONGER THAN THAT! You can do it! It is possible! And you'll see weight melting off and it will be WORTH IT! The more you lose now, the less you have to lose later.... Just my 2 cents. I wish you luck!
  10. I'd definitely get a repeat sleep study. Yes, most likely you've resolved the apnea with weight loss and exercise, but there's really only one way to know for sure! Sleep apnea can cause a lot of health issues if left untreated. If you used it now, with the setting you had when you were having severe apnea, it probably wouldn't work as well anyway. So I definitely suggest doing another sleep study to confirm if you still have it and to adjust your setting if you still do need the CPAP.
  11. watermelon is easy because of the high Water content. Funyuns and other carbs are considered slider foods because they pass through very easily without making you feel full or providing any nutritional content. So be careful, it's cool in moderation, but don't give in to every craving or you'll sabotage your weight loss. Weird combo - I wonder if it has to do with our hormones? Estrogen is stored in fat, so when you start losing weight, you're flooded with extra hormones, too.
  12. Congrats!! I remember that feeling, it's such a relief to know you can STOP with the insurance game. Good luck on getting scheduled soon!
  13. Don't hold onto it! You're DONE with that size, with that life! Let those clothes go on to help others who can't afford brand new stuff, and focus on who you are now. And I agree with keeping one outfit in the larger size. It will help you see how far you've come when you're having a bad day. Congrats on the weight loss! You've EARNED a new wardrobe!
  14. LMAO! I knew Ms. AntiBand would have something to say about this!!! I do like that the MD they spoke to said they wouldn't have recommended the band. I'm really surprised that he chose the band, I mean, if I can easily get info on the different surgeries myself, then I'm sure he had the best doctors advising him of the same. My surgeon said the same thing: "I take out more bands than I put in". For someone who's supposed to be such a smart guy, this seems like a misstep. Good on him for recognizing he had to deal with his weight problem, but really - I think he made the wrong choice!
  15. I called everyday. I called the day the MD said it was submitted to verify it was received. Then called everyday to check the status. It only takes a minute, and everyone I talked to was helpful and totally understood why I was calling back. I got an approval in 2 days.
  16. Lots and lots of public figures have had some type of bariatric surgery, why is everyone so concerned with him?? I don't get it. Is it just because he's the most recent one to talk about it?
  17. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Congrats on all your success, you are an inspiration to us all! Enjoy your day!!!
  18. HA! I change into comfies as soon as I'm home too, will be so nice not to be concerned with that soon enough!
  19. I agree we shouldn't be lingering, but eggs go cold in 5 minutes and there is nothing nastier (IMO) than cold eggs! I appreciate the tips, everyone - off to the interwebs for shopping I go! :)
  20. Yay!!! That's how I felt when I was approved. Bask in it, girl! Your life is about to change!!! :)
  21. I took so much stuff I didn't use, so lemme just tell you what I did use; LIP BALM - don't leave home without it!! toothbrush/toothpaste facial cleansing wipes - cuz bending to wash your face is NOT fun! my cell phone and a charger a hairbrush and a couple of hair bands gas-x strips peppermint tea bags I packed my ipod, magazines and crossword puzzles, but didn't use it. I was exhausted and spent most of my time in the hospital sleeping off the anesthesia. Congrats on your surgery!! :) Good luck and speedy recovery!
  22. welcome home! I had surgery last Thursday. I'm sure you're sore and tired - use the time to rest when you need to, that's when your body is healing. I had a terrible time getting any liquids in the first couple days home, mainly because I just wanted to sleep. But use your time awake wisely and walk as much as you can, sip your fluids and then get back to resting. I'm only 3 days ahead of you and I can tell you that three days makes a BIG difference. I'm feeling better every day and drinking now is much easier - I'm *almost* getting in all my required Water. yesterday I was about 8 oz short, and I felt like a champ getting that much in! Welcome to "the other side". It only gets better from here!

enjoy Vegas! I know I found it hard not to indulge in everything since it felt like "the last time". I think that's normal, and good to get it outta your system!
  24. I'm not at that stage yet, so I don't know for sure - but it sounds like a bit of indigestion. Maybe you're taking too big of bites? Or eating too fast? Or it just could be your tummy getting used to digesting again... I get a similar feeling when I take too big a sip of Water.
  25. ONEDERLAND!!! woooooo!! you look good, girl!
