  1. Hi there,

I consult with Dr Marsden on 9/06/12. I love his staff at true results. I was originally scheduled to go with Dr. Kim, but I felt rushed and pressured, and was really sure that after I had the surgery with Dr. Kim, he would not be there for me if any problems came up.

Also, Dr. Kim's staff never wanted to answer questions. I had my first visit at True Results yesterday, and they were absolutely wonderful. I can't wait to schedule my surgery and get moving towards a healthier me!

That is funny! I had my lap band through Dr. Marseden and I was not very pleased with the aftercare followup services. I was going to go use him for my sleeve procedure and even approved by the insurance but he was having issues being allowed to perform the surgery at an hospital of excellence, which was required by my insurance provider (UHC, at the time). I opted to have alternate consultation with Dr. Kim and I found the experience and the referrals to be much more rewarding and supportive. First impression with quality experience goes along way when considering such an invasive surgery. I wish you will and hope have a better experience with True Results and Dr. Marsden than I did.

  2. Lil Lo: I am also scheduled for revidiom on Oct 11. I must admit that I am a nervous wreck not knowing if my procedure can be done in one surgery as well. I do want the safest and best outcome. I have full trust in my doctor but he is going to need alittle assistance from GOD! So I will keep you in prayer as I hope you will for me...

  3. God is Great! I was browsing on the web looking at the info on fitbit and a nosey coworker was asking me questions about the product. I replied that I did not know much about it and I belong to VSG forum and is one of the hot topics. So of course that opened up more dialog and questions. To make a short story shorter. The nosey coworker brought me a Fitbit to work today!! :) . Thank you nosey coworker and better yet thank you GOD!! (One less expense for me)

  4. Newbie as well,

I am so excited about the journey. I am scheduled for October 11, 2012. I look seeking to surround myself with preop and postop AA in the DFW area? Please add me as a friend and send a shout out my way.. I need all the support I can get..

  5. I am so nervous and worried that I will have to undergo two surgeries. I had lap band surgery in Dec 2007 and scheduled to have sleeve surgery on October 11, 2012. I really want it all in one surgery but I do not want to take the risk of leakage or complications. My surgeon is NOT going to do both procedures in the same day if he feels that I have to much scar tissue, but he will not know until he is already in there if he can proceed with the sleeve. He is definitely a master at revisions and I trust his professionalism and expertise. My parents live in California and was planning to come to Texas to assist with my recovery. I am not sure if they should because there is no guarantee that I will be sleeved at that time. What do I do?

  6. I wish you well in your journey, but as stated earlier the eval is necessary for a reason. If you question one psych opinion get another and we all hope for the best in your situation. If the approval has to be delayed for your clearance then that is what is necessary. It does not have to be a permanent situation it could simply mean the timing is not right for the approval. If this was me, I would appreciate the professionals for what they are qualified and trained to do. I am sure that is not the response you are seeking but your health and safety is always first. Please keep us posted and I will keep you in prayer.

  7. I was also very fortunate to not have a long insurance wait. I think they tell everyone 2/3 weeks for a response but I have read alot of others in this forum getting their decision in a matter of days. My paperwork was submitted on July 26th and I was given my approval on July 31st. Unfortunately, I have to wait until October 11th to have my surgery because my surgeon is so awesome in with VSG procedures, the waiting list is 2 months out. I am patient and staying involved in the process. I wish you luck and definitely recommend PATIENCE!! This is a life changing experience for us all. I will also follow you along your journey... :)

  8. Looking forward to surgery. I am still trying to learn my way around on this site. It took me a week to learn how to put a picture on my profile page. I know only four members in this group so far. How many in Dallas, TX? Hopefully as the months get closer we will expanded our group!

  9. I am so excited to find this group as well. I am looking to hear from you all. I awaiting surgery scheduled for Oct 11, 2012. It seems so far away but the more I educate myself from other experiences on this site, I think the more prepared and successful I will be. I love to read and see all the success stories they are very uplifting and encouraging. I would like to here some of the challenges as well because if others have overcome them then it can be encouraging as well. I am all eyes on this site...

  10. Congrats to you Joiful. I don't think my conscious would let me go under that type of surgery and keep it a secret from the most important people in my life. They don't have to support me in the surgery but they will support me at the end of the day! (I hope). I am the same i can lose 30 to 40lbs and no one really notices because I go up and down within weeks. Keep it up.

  11. My name is Toya. I am to ready to break the cycle of being obese. I have been in denial for most of my adult life, because so many in my fan club love curves. I have weighed 200lbs since the age of 14 and now at the age of 40 I have peaked to 300lbs. I have managed to hide the shame and discomfort because I know how to look my best at any size (with over 25 years of experience). I made the choice in 2008 to have the lap band procedure and within the first six months I lost 50lbs. I must admit it initially felt great, but as usual I found a way to "work around" the band and gained it all back within the past year.

My surgery is going to be performed by Dr Kim in Colleyville, TX. I went to my initial consultation on July 11, 2012 weighing 296 lbs. I was given all the requirements of my insurance which was to have one NUT visit, psych eval, sleep study and history of any problems incurred with lap band. I scheduled all the appointments to complete insurance requirements within a week. On July 26, 2012, my package was deemed complete and submitted for insurance approval. On July 31, 2012, I received a call from Dr. Kim's office advising that I had been approved for lap band removal and the VSG. I am now scheduled to have my surgery on Oct. 11, 2012. ( :( doctor only performs surgery at my required hospital of excellence once a month and he was already booked up through Sept.) I am so ready to BREAK THE CYCLE and go from thick to thin :D !!

My family and friends are still not in full acceptance of me proceeding with the VSG because they feel I look perfect the way I am or they feel it is such a drastic surgery that I do not need to put my life in that kind of danger on the surgery table. What they fail to realize is that they have never seen me smaller than 200lbs, so it hard for them to visualize seeing me any other way, as well as them being able to understand me caring this weight around day in and day out is more dangerous than a one day surgery. This leads me to say that I love this site and hope to be embraced and supported by others that are preop and postop.

  12. This is my very first entry on the site. I joined yesterday in the hopes that I would be able to share in all the excitement on this most helpful site. I have Anthems BCBS of Georgia. I my doctor and his helpful staff submitted my request for pre cert on July 24. They where told the package was incomplete on 7/25. On 7/27 then received the required docs for submission. On 7/31 (today) at 1:04pm cntrl time zone I received that awaited call from the my doctor's office advising that I had been approved for my sleeve procedure. SUPER EXCITED!! I was prepared for the worst, reading all of the stories on here but I am so blessed that I had to share the great news!!
