wOW.... 27 POUNDS IS AMAZING. I'm losing like 3 pounds a month now, talk about going nuts!
Every single pound is a victory in my book! Don 't let it get you down cuz that won't help anything.

27lbs is great, considering 6 weeks out of the 8 you were in healing mode and not alot of people lose during those 6 weeks. You weren't eating enough for your metabolism, so that pretty much shut down. I was told first 6 weeks don't expect weight loss. I think 27lbs is good. I also think that you should have had at least 1 fill.......bring it up with your dr.

If you were just banded 2 months ago, 27 pounds is good. That's an average of 3.4 pounds a week. The band is average is 1-2 pounds a week, so you're already losing faster than expected.

I had surgery August 1, and they put NOTHING in my band at that time. My first fill was yesterday, and they put in 1cc. In one month, I can get another 1cc, then they go to 1/2cc's every month after that until I'm between 4-5cc's. So you're moving much faster than me! I'm sorry you're so hungry... that's tough. I'm hardly ever hungry. I eat mostly Protein, is that what you're eating? One of my new favorites is tuna, 1 oz cubed cheddar, 3 tbsp light mayo, and finely chopped pickles. No bread. That keeps me full for 4-5 hours.

How are you doing with your motivation??? I hope you found yours again... Maybe if you try a not so severe approach? Start by stopping one thing and then the next week stop something else??? I had to have my bad completely reopened today... I stretched my pouch and now have to start over in a month... I am mad at myself for letting my eating get back out of control. I will start over and I think I found my motivation... Failure is not fun!!!

I've been eating more than I know I should, too. I'm trying to stop, but I feel guilty, which makes me want to eat more because I feel bad. So I'm trying to stop the negative spiral. I was doing so good the last few weeks, I want to get back there. Just gotta do it. Urges are so frustrating, and I've been quite cranky lately! This forum has helped me so much and encourages me to keep pushing forward.

I had my first fill yesterday, and had no idea that they do fills in baby steps. I have yet to try "normal" food after this first fill, but I know that in the last week leading up to the fill, I was also feeling like I was eating too much and feeling like a failure. I wasn't focusing on my successes at all though. I love how you pointed out to remember our successes. For me, that would be not eating any sort of chocolate candy bar since prior to July 31. I didn't know I could go that long without dying!!! or at least feeling like I was gonna die or hurt someone. I am enjoying feeding my body with quality food instead of whatever I feel like eating. I get a strange sense of satisfaction by not eating near the quantity that I used to, and eating healthier. Makes me feel much better emotionally!

Had my first fill and am still eating. Not crazy amounts but enough to make me feel like I'm a failure. I realized I'm being too hard on myself and only focusing on the negative. Successes? I am hungry less, make better choices and eat much less. What's wrong with that? NOTHING!!! Feel free to share any insight.

I too had my first fill recently, 8/23 to be exact. I am ashamed at my eating habits right now!
I started off strong (239lbs down to 211lbs) within the first three weeks of surgery. 16 lbs down just from the preop. At this point i have been fluctuating between -26-28 lbs.
I already know i need another fill because i have been eating a little more than i think i should. Granted it IS less than what i used to eat pre-band. But i also have ate Pasta and have used flatbread with my tuna. I have also snuck in a piece of apple pie with reg vanilla ice cream two nights in a row this week. I feel horrible for making these choices!!
My Dr said at my first fill apt to come back in two months and we will see where im at but i think I'm only going to go a month and try to get back in for a small fill the 1st part of October. At least i hope too!!
As for my food choices, i will continue to fight the urges to the best of my ability.
    Good luck to you!

I don't think there is any normal, since every surgeon and center is different. For me personally, my first fill at 4 weeks post-op was 3 cc's. My second, at 8 weeks, was 1.5 cc's because I had been doing so well. My third fill, at 12 weeks, was another 1.5 cc's. I'm at 6 total, and feel that I'm in the Green Zone.
My surgeon gives me a range of cc's and asks me at each fill appointment how aggressive I want to be, and we go from there.

I had nothing in at time of surgery. Fill 1 and 2
    were both 2cc. Fill 3 was .5cc and fill 4 was .2cc.
It sounds like your Fill specialist is doing what my surgeon does. I was a little skeptical at first when i found out my practices fill schedule, but I really only felt true restriction the last .8cc.
I guess I'm saying don't worry too much about the number.

Yes, I did gain a few pounds post op with my band surgery, and 2 weeks ago gained 4 pounds post op with my gallbladder surgery which is also gone now.
Your body is likely retaining fluids...that's what it felt like for me. This is a time to focus yourself on healing, and not your scale. Do your best to remain compliant with your post op instructions, and the weight will come off.

If I don't chew, food gets stuck. It's weird learning how to eat again. I have thrown up plenty of times. But like she said, it doesn't burn because the food has not reached the stomach yet. I walked a mile yesterday. Better than I have in the past. I'm learning to cook, because it is easier to prepare foods I know I can eat. My first fill is next week. I'm excited about how that will go.

I had surgery 16 August. I'm still really gassy inside my body. people don't talk about that part. Other than that, I can barely tell I had surgery. He went through the same incisions as my gallbladder removal and removed a hernia. I can't wait for the next 3 weeks to be over so i can start eating real food again. i miss biting into food. I'm also thinking of joining Weight Watchers to help with my weight loss. I didn't realize how many people were so against weight loss surgery, so i have to keep it a secret. I have just been telling people I had hernia surgery. I'm thankful that this forum exist so I don't feel so alone in this journey. i was thinking of starting a scrap book to see my journey through the years.

I was banded 8/3/12 and have lost 25 lbs. Amazing!! I go in for my first fill on Tuesday 9/4. Hoping to lose another 25!!!! My eating/ interest in food has gone wayyyyyy down but I am still having moments where I have cravings or eat something bad. I am also hoping my first banding will help more with that. People have been commenting on how great I look and it is SO nice to hear. I still have a LONG way to go, but I definitely think I am on the right track and just have to keep making small goals and daily successes. I call my band my Willpower. GOODLUCK TO ALL, we can do it!!!!

Hey y'all! I'm Jessica. Guess I am a part of the class of August 2012 now! I was banded a few days ago, and still recovering. The day of my surgery was probably the most painful day of my life (just being honest here), but every day I get better and better. I honestly believe that this was the best decision I ever made.
I have my own YouTube channel where I am tracking my whole journey. You should subscribe if you are interested! My username on there is the same, Jessicakesbanded

This Friday is my big day!!!! I am so excited!!! I need to do some shopping this week and get stocked up. I have to do Clear liquids on Thursday so I'm going to make some yummy homemade chicken broth. (always better than store bought)
I took all of next week off and am preparing done small craft projects to keep me occupied during my recovery. I know I'll get bored with TV/movies/Internet pretty quick.
    I just can't wait!!!!
