Feb 2017 sleevers - how's everyone doing post-op?
It may have been from the anesthesia. I have that reaction to it. Now, I tell them ahead of time and they generally give me meds in my IV to counteract and sometimes the patch behind my ear also.

Change your own username!
Can I still change my own username and password? I log in online using my FaceBook profile. When I try to use the app on my iPhone it wants my username and password and doesn't give me the FB option so I am unable to log in.

Louisville Ky... anybody?
Please share if you liked the clinic or not. I am moving to Louisville this weekend. I am post op but need to find a new doctor.

Can't afford my fills, help!
Since you had lost your job, do you have a new one now (hence, a new insurance plan)? Perhaps, if you do, your new insurance would cover this. I do like the idea of checking with a teaching hospital as well. Also, if you could find a Bariatric Clinic they seem to be less expensive than traditional surgeons through hospitals.

Keeping It Real!
Di, what a beautiful tribute to your mother and I always appreciate you keeping it real. I haven't been on here much these days and didn't see your post earlier. You are an inspiration and a great friend. I appreciate that you are encouraging and not afraid to keep it real. This journey isn't easy but you are proof that through trials and tribulations, successes and failures, it can be done!!! The picture is lovely and I am so happy you and your family were able to truly celebrate the holiday. <3

New Forum Is (Not) So Sad!
Not sure about the relogging in using the iPhone. I was frustrated at first as I couldn't log in using FB. After Alex reset my username and password, I logged in once on my phone and it keeps me logged in and I use my iPhone.

Who Got Stuck For Thanksgiving?
Had dinner at mom's and later at dad's and stuck both times. However, having a veryyyyy stressful day I think led to band being tight and mother over cooked the ham, so it was too dry... Anyway, playing games later in the evening made up for it! And, the glass of Merlot went down just fine!

Banded 11/4- Major Complications :(
Glad you're feeling better. I understand being upset and rightfully so; however, being upset with the surgeon isn't going to resolve anything at this point. Try to focus on the positive. Also, to my knowledge, the largest band holds 11 or 14 cc, I don't think there is any way there was 15+ cc in the band. I think they may have been mistaken or may have mistated or you may have misunderstood. IMO, the best plan now is to take care of yourself and focus on the positives. You have a great tool and are on your way to a healthier lifestyle. I am not trying to dismiss your concerns, just hoping you can move forward in a positive manner. Best wishes!!

Exciting new changes are coming to LapBandTalk
So there will be separate forums for LapBand blogs? I am hopeful there will be as there is a huge difference between after care, the surgeries, etc and, my experience is that people who had other types of surgery like to profess theirs is better, and/or tell me what I should be doing based on their surgery.

Leftover Candy....???
At my last LB support meeting this topic was discussed and there are actually some great things you can do w/ the candy, in lieu of throwing it out: Send extra candy to a charity: ii. Operation Shoebox – Donate to the Troops http://operationshoebox.com/ iii. Operation Gratitude http://www.operationgratitude.com/ iv. Some schools and food pantries also accept these items

Angry - no weight loss!!!
I agree that you may be taking in too few calories and also, with that minimal calorie intake are you taking in the appropriate amount of protein? Best to consult with your medical team for advise.

Embarrassed, depressed....
Can I recommend a few things? In the a.m. try having a protein drink or I make oatmeal w egg whites that goes down well and keeps me full. I, too, was doing well then fell off course. A few things that helped me is cooking a few big meals and portioning them into 1 cup containers so I have healthy and portioned dinners always ready and I don't have to cook all the time. I also keep chopped onions, peppers, ham, etc in baggies in freezer and it helps me throw together egg white omlets, etc in a snap. If you can prepare meals and snacks it will help tremendously. You're getting stuck probably from eating too fast or too big of bites. Slowing down and really chewing should help that. Best wishes to you. You only fail if you give up. You can turn this around.

Day of Surgery

Im having a meltdown
Sparkles, I agree with the posters above. In addition, I am so sorry for your loss and understand how difficult it must be. Your surgeon will not judge you and is there to help support you. You have literally been to hell and back and it's time to pick up the pieces and put the beautiful smile back on your face. You have every right to grieve, just don't beat yourself up over where you are now. I had to get an unfill earlier this year as I was having difficulty getting even liquids down, I was having some other health issues and couldn't get a fill until I figured out what my other pain was coming from. Now that it's resolved, I need to get back to my doctor. I am 10 lbs heavier than when I saw him last and couldn't bring myself to face him, feeling like a failure. Yet, I knew I needed to as the band should be helping me and it isn't (no restriction). I went to my LB support group last night (happens to be run by my dr's office dietician). I outted myself for not making the appt and she said they are more frustrated when people DON'T come in because they could have helped before it got worse, so MAKE the appt. I made my appt today, now it's your turn.

Thanks for sharing your story. Your time on this Earth wasn't up and you are here for a reason so make it the best it can be. You deserve to be happy and to feel better. How long have you been banded? Best wishes to you!

Insurance Covering My Tummy Tuck!!!
That's awesome. You may want to wait a bit though until you've lost all you wish to lose and have maintained so you get as much loose skin off you can. By the way, I heard at my LB support meeting last night that you can donate the skin they remove. I never knew that but they use it for burn victims. I think it's a great way to give back.
