  1. The first few weeks are the hardest. It will get much easier. My surgeon told me to make sure I got 3-4 cups of fluids a day to stay hydrated and work up to 64 ounces in time. For the first few weeks, you may only be able to take very small sips. Keep your liquids nearby and take small sips all day to get in what you can. If you're getting that, you should be good there. You won't be able to get the full amount in until 3-4 weeks probably. I'm 3 months post op and feeling great! As for eating, every doctor is different so I would suggest confirming with your doctor. Don't try too push it as you don't want to cause any harm.

  2. Getting your Protein in makes a big difference in your weight loss too. Mine really slows down if I'm not. I don't care to eat in the morning so I have a Premier Protein drink (30 gr protein, 2 gr sugar and 160 cal). It keeps my protein up and an easy Breakfast. I mix their caramel with ice and coffee, or blend their strawberry with half a frozen banana and both are very good. You can do this. :)

  3. I also had mine done in one procedure. He removed scar tissue and fixed a hiatal hernia. I had the t done March 14 and started at 230 lbs on date of surgery. After 8 weeks, I'm down 27 lbs. It's still early but so far I'm much happier with the sleeve and glad to have the band out. It was a harder surgery to bounce back from but worth it for me.

  4. Sorry, just came back to this site after 2 years and have forgotten how to use it. Have 2 posts in this section and am hoping for an answer to my dilemma. Am having surgery done Monday the 17th of April and am so worried that he won't be able to do the sleeve at the same time. Want this over with, but I'm sure he'll know what to do after getting the band out. Dr. Caban at Ocala Regional in Ocala, Florida.
    Thanks for any input.

I just converted from the band to the sleeve on Mar 14. They were able to do it in one procedure. He also removed scar tissue and a hiatal hernia (from too much vomiting with the slipped band).

  5. I'm 9 days post op from my sleeve surgery. Today I woke up not feeling great. Feel a little light headed, hard to explain, I just fell off...anyone have days like this shortly after surgery? Oh, even my multi Vitamin made me feel nauseous.

It could be a simple matter of dehydration. Have you tried Gatorade zero or smart Water to help?

  6. I'm 9 days post op as well. I'm having a hard time getting those fluids in. I've been giving 2 liters of I.V. fluids since surgery...ehich really helped with fatigue. The B12 & B1 shots helped with my energy. I don't feel 100%...more like 40%....BE CAREFUL with feeling light headed maybe a sign of dehydration. Along with sleeve surgery, I had hiatal hernia repair & scar tissue removal...so, this could be the source of my added soreness. I think we have a few more "yucky" days ahead of us.....I can't wait to feel like myself again. I hope you feel better soon...We're gonna be looking beautiful when all this passes....but, damn it's not an easy road to travel!

I'm 13 days post op and also had a hiatal hernia and scar tissue removal (lap band revision to sleeve) and can relate to your experience. Each day seems to bring improvements, small or big, so I'm glad about that.

  7. I would suggest you consider seeking professional help for dealing with some of your emotions behind all of this. Also, clearly eating crap isn't advisable as you need nutrition to properly fuel and nourish your body and that is leading you down a destructive path again. I've sought therapy to help with my emotions and it's the best thing I've done for myself in a long time.

  8. Congratulations!

As for your mom, could you just tell her you're having surgery because the band slipped and leave out other details? It's an honest reply just maybe not all the details.

I'm doing a revision as well and haven't told but a couple people and others just that my band slipped (true) and I have to have surgery.

This time around, I don't feel it needs to be everyone's business for me.

    Happy thoughts and well wishes!
