It turned out that I had swelling from my band placement. I stayed in the hospital 3days and now I'm home and comfortable and losing!!! Its common I was told that after surgery you can have swelling from the band. My surgeon came all the way in to the hospital that whole weekend just to take care of me himself!! Lots of support from the staff and the best nurse!!!

I have 6. Two on my left side of my belly...one above my belly button...two on my right side of my belly...and a big one right below my sternum...looks like a giant smiley face!!! Kind of cute!! My belly is smiling cause of my band!!

I was banded Monday. I had them yesterday I had them in my left side. Especially when I layed down. I tried laying on my side and it helped. Plus sitting up more helped. I have to say I slept a lot better in the hospital bed than I do at home!!!

Thanks guys!!! I'm do shocked how well I feel! Can't wait to get to my room and put my clothes on and walk!! Ready!!

Its time!!! Very excited and can't wait!!! Getting nervous but a good nervous!!! Any advice for tomorrow?

My surgery is in 5 weeks and I'm nervous to but I'm turning it into excited nervous!!! I just think about what I'm going to do after!!!

I went and met my surgeon today and I'm scheduled for November 12!!!! I'm so excited!!! All I need is my letter from my PCP and my therapist and I'm done!!! So happy today it feels like Xmas for me!!!

I can't wait to get it done....I'm so excited....I woke up today in a better mood..guess all I needed was a good cry with my mom! Today I'm putting on a better face and will embrace my "fat clothes" with a smile because I know its only temporary!!!

I had the same fears as you. I to have severe RA and have gained an enormous amount of weight from my meds as well. But if I don't take them I'm basicly paralyzed!!! My doc at first wasn't for it when I brought it up a year ago. But since then my health had got a lot worse. I went to a seminar about the band and talked to a couple friends of mine who had it and it made my decision easier!! I then made an appointment with my doc and told him my decision! He said he was on board and happy to help!! He reffered me to one of the best barriatric surgeons and I got my appointment this month!!
My husband is nervous about my decision but in the same breath hes so supportive. He told me that he would love me no matter what size I am and he would cut any doorway down to get me out of any room!!! It was a little weird but sweet!! He told me no matter how big u get your heart stays the same size!!! So to him my size has never changed!!! Do what u feel is right!!

So I went to my PCP and had the conversation about how I'm done with being over weight for the last 20yrs....(he didn't agree with me a year prior!!) And to my amazement he actually agreed with me this time!!! But he had a problem with the surgeon o went to see....so as a comprise he asked me to go see one of the best barriatric surgeons in boston.....so I graciously said yes...I was just happy to get him on board!!!! So I left his office with a large smile on my face and a tear in my eye!!! (This is actually going to happen!!!) I called the new surgeons office from the car in the parking lot and I got a machine!! So I left s message. This was Friday!! Nothing.....then I called at 3 on Monday.... no answer...left another message.... nothing..... so...finally I called today and I got my appointment!!" I'm so happy ... I started to feel like I was making a mistake!!! I don't want to be scared at this stage!!!! Just positive thoughts!!!!

My goal after this is when its all said and done....to go shopping for a new wedding dress and renew my vows with my husband and take a honeymoon we never got and wear a bathing suit!!! Dreams right now but its a great thing to strive for!!!

Thanks!! Obesity runs in my family to! My mom is 5'4" and weighs like 350. All the females on my moms side were over weight and had bad arthritis... I'm however 5'10" so I carried it well for a while!! But from being on prednisone for so long its gotten worse. I basicly look pregnant again and its uncomfortable!!! I've tried all sorts of diets and exercise even got a trainer... I just keep gaining and its time to get it off permanently!! My mom struggles a lot and maybe by me doing this...it will show her that there's nothing to be afraid of and I can help her through the process!!!
